there is not a break for the north bay. look at 3:00. rain returning to the north bay and to santa rosa and clear lake. we will see the rain continue there until it spreads across the rest of the bay year by 11:00 saturday morning. off and on rain into sunday. as we measured a high amount of rainfall, that will come on an already saturated ground. our storm total at 2.25 for santa rosa. same for san rafell. concord at 1.25. the rain in hayward will continue. palo alto with 1 inch of rain and 1 inch in san francisco. we always warn especially with the rising waterways and water covering the roads that ponding left on the roads. turn around, don't drown. it takes a little bit of water to knock you off your feet and carry you away. also carry away a small car or suv. the wind advisory still in effect. 30 to 40 miles an hour winds. we go hour and hour with the wind forecast and it shows 20 to 30-mile-an-hour winds this morning. we will see conditions improving, but still quite breezy out there. looking ahead to saturday, the next round of ra

we are definitely seeing that in parts of the north bay where this rain is starting to taper off. as we get a closer look, morgan hill, gilroy getting the last little bit of this rain, but it has been so rough this morning. we've seen some very high rainfall totals in those spots. and the next storm is gaining steam out there in the pacific. we can see the clouds coming together and the national weather service picking up on a lot of lightning within this cluster set to arrive by about 3:00 to 4:00 in the morning. let's talk about how much rain we measured. because as we mentioned, all of that flooding in morgan hill, we've gotten over 3 inches of rainfall, which is very significant. but as we typically see with these storms that are low in the horizon, by the time they make it to our coastline, the mountains just wring out all of that moisture. take a look at the rainfall total in the santa cruz mountains, nearing 7 inches of rainfall. and it was very high as well. but we also typically see some rain shadows, what we call much lower rainfall totals. by the time the storm makes it

some of the heaviest rain is right now falling in parts of the north bay and san francisco. it's moving to oakland and danville as well pushing into the east bay. as we get a closer look, the radar is lit up with the rain getting a lot heavier in parts of the tri-valley. it's just now starting to move in to san jose with lighter rain. we'll see it continuing to get heavier as we go throughout the rest of the morning. as we zoom out, we can see all of the storm that has to work through the bay area, this atmospheric river, with that tap of the tropical moisture extending all the way over to hawaii. that will enhance the rainfall. but as the center of the storm gets closer, we will see those winds increasing as we go into this evening. going hour by hour, once again it's just widespread across the bay area. we are going to see that continue but at times it will break up around 11:00 to noon, even by 1:00 we could see some breaks in the rain but take a look at that big wall of water coming in at 3:30 to the north bay and then once again getting heavier as it moves across the re

we have thunderstorm activity in the north bay. it's pushed through just north of bodega bay, sonoma county and in the last couple of minutes it's pushed into areas such as davis moving on into sacramento. the winds were also very, very wild last night, gusting anywhere from 30 to 50 miles an hour up in the mountain tops, but now we have calmer conditions from the south and that's how the rest of the day will go today as we subside from this storm. as we take it on out into stormranger, i wanted to show you that activity i was talking about. those thunderstorms have just pushed into sacramento. otherwise the rest of the bay area starting to get a little bit more calmer conditions. there are a couple of cells that i'm watching right now just around sausalito, a few pockets of light rain have just pushed over richmond and berkeley as well. i've noticed that one of them has stalled a little over the santa cruz mountains as it tries to push into morgan hill and gilroy, but how much rain did we get over the last 24 hours? a very active

in the north bay, a 2-year-old boy died. as we reported late last night, a redwood tree fell on this double-wide trailer in the town of occidental while the boy and his father were inside. today we've learned that the boy, aeon tocchini, that's the victim. we spoke to his mother about what happened. she didn't want to show her face on camera, but she did tell us she was walking toward the home as the tree started to split apart. >> and i saw the house. i saw the tree just snapped off 30 feet up and dropped on the house. it just dropped on the house, right in front of me. and i thought my husband and my son were dead. and then my husband, he jumped out of the trash, and he just screamed, oh, my son. he said that he was right on the crouch, and that's where the tree was. so i just knew there's no way that -- there's no way that he's going to be alive. >> so difficult to watch this story and even for the first responders who responded last night to this scene. we thank the mother there for sharing some of her time with us. we a

in the north bay, 2-3 inches. we add on some of the rain tomorrow and you can see how most of the bay area is good for about 1-3 inches when it comes to the storm. right now it doesn't look nearly as strong as what we had this past weekend. but don't let your guard down. up towards the north bay, this looks like what could be one of the more serious events coming out of the series of storms. russian river in guerneville looking like it's going to hit 35 feet as we head through tomorrow and friday. look at this. new information tonight, sunday and monday, the potential for the russian river to hit 40 feet which is considered a major flood. we know a lot of you up there in guerneville and surrounding communities near the russian river are used to it when we get stronger storms. you have to have the flood plan in place. make sure you're thinking about that right now. everything shows more storms are going to be on the way for us. other spots we're checking in on, napa river going to 20 feet as we roll through the nex
