rwepo outages totaling 35,000 customers right now. over 80% of the outages are over the peninsula. that is where we begin our team coverage with suzanne in daly city. >> we are in daly city where you can see the tree continues to block the street. pg&e says at one poi 7 three customers in the peninsula were without power. gusty wind across the bay area. it means a lot of crews. they had their hands full dealing with trees that have toppled over. like the wind keeps blowing, the trees keep coming down and we had more customers out. >> in south san francisco, it is a mess in the backyard of this home. >> it broke a power pole and obviously it affected this homeowners house. >> fierce wind is to blame. >> we saw peak winds over 65 miles an hour in the bay. >> the tree that came crashing

down in this neighborhood knocked out power to 100 34 customers. a cell phone tower and a school were also affected by this particular outage. >> not having power or heat is not a great thought. she was home yesterday when the winds whipped up. >> it was weird. i think some rooftops came off of our house. i heard something crash and then the power went out. question in atherton, crews were busy clearing away falling -- fallen trees. pg&e cleaned up the property. an in san carlos, more trees toppled over, keeping tree service companies exceptionally busy today. >> i've never seen a situation like this before. because this neighborhood continues to wait for tree crews to remove this downed tree. some relieved the tree fell away from homes and into the street.

the record temperature that it broke was 49, sat back in 1880. it was a very cold system. you can see by the speckled clouds just how cold it is, producing thunderstorms in sierra, nevada right now. those temperatures, if you stepped outside, it is clearly cold. 30's and 40's right now. temperatures this afternoon well below average for this time of year. you are seeing some dark and threatened clouds out there. cold showers overnight. frost and freeze warnings going up. widespread rain and low snow level. you do get a brief break on saturday before we bring in your wet weather. spotty showers, windy, not terribly strong. isolated thunder is still possible. snow over the hills between 1500 and 2000 feet. it becomes level two.

a moderate strength storm tomorrow morning into friday morning. brief downpours expected to 500 feet. be prepared for just about anything. tonight, it is very isolated to spot in nature. tomorrow morning you start to see some snow showers appearing. then. it will be a rain and snow mix at 7:00. this is when it will be not only our best opportunity for snow but also some thunderstorms developing in the afternoon and evening, going into friday morning, you will notice it is still a wintry mix. it eases a bit, onl again tomorrow evening. through late friday night. the rainfall totals will range anywhere from a third of an inch to about 1.5 inches. the santa cruz mountains here, a

you will notice lucas valley road. we are seeing that wintry mix. the same thing is happening across highway 84 at across 35 around the peninsula. they are seeing snow showers up around woodside. very light showers across 280. we'll keep this theme going. a light level in storm producing snow in the sierra, nevada. you will notice those scattered and spotty showers tonight into tomorrow morning and picking up in intensity and coverag eveninn california, a rare blizzard warning from friday morning to saturday afternoon. anywhere from one to five feet expected between 3500 and 4000 feet. gusts to 75 miles per hour. this is something you want to keep in mind if you are traveling. in the bay area, your afternoon highs will struggle to get out of the 40's and 50's. it will be windy. spotty showers around tomorrow

no matter what goes on on the field, if we can find a way to scratch them out every day, hopefully at the end of the year we can look back and see more wins on the board and getting a chance to be in the world series. across the play started here on saturday against the diamondbacks and then march 30, the regular season opener, that will be in oakland. chris alvarez, abc 7 sports. >> the giant struggles from a year ago can largely be attributed to so many defensive lapses. a renewed focus on attention to detail and the most focused player in cap is the play with the most experience. three golden gloves. he is going all out from the job and that has really set the tone for their camp.

he is very enthused about the giant prctpeosingos g forward. as is gabe kapler because they really need to tighten it up defensively. that was a big problem for the giants last year. they have 10 more homeruns. one more warriors not because gary payton the second spoke to the media for the first time since the trade at the deadline, there is all this controversy, did they get damaged goods? he did not get pills. the hope is maybe a month or so that he will be ready to go. the warriors will get stuff back at some point. gary peyton the second as well. hopefully they can make a playoff run but andrew wiggins is out tomorrow night because of personal reasons. it has been a struggle for them to get their starting unit on the court. >> coming up tonight on abc 7, it is the o'connors, the goldbergs, abbott elementary and not dead yet and then a million little things is at 10:00 followed by abc 7 news at 11:00.
