nbc bay area marianne favro live at the still very active scene in east san jose and marianne. what else are police telling you? well, there are about a half a dozen investigators still out here tonight. police say that no officers were hurt and that this all started when they got a call that a man was firing a gun in the neighborhood. and neighbors here on karma drive tell us they heard several shots fired around four this afternoon. san jose police say they were called to the area. officers responded to the 2700 block of kohlmeyer avenue for a report of a person actively discharging a firearm. when officers arrived on scene, the suspect was still actively discharging a firearm, prompting an officer involved shooting. police say the man shot suffered life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital, and no one else was hurt. investigators are not saying how many officers fired shots. we've been just out here waiting, dante avila says the shooting happened right near his apartment. it's a little concerning because they're both little girls and we were constantly taking w
