thank you. 25 minutes from now, we'll hear from the sheriff of san mateo county. of course, we'll get more information because this is all happening as we speak in terms of developing. >> somebody who broke the story is jackson jaxon van derbeken. he joins us now by phone. you've been speaking with your law enforcement sources all afternoon. you got first wind of this around 3:00. what are you learning? >> reporter: well, basically, we understand that there's this -- a mushroom farm is quite sprawling and they have two separate crime scenes there involving two victims, and then the secondary -- the other location, there were three victims. two had been confirmed dead at the scene and one was transported to the hospital. it sounds like he may -- or this victim may have also died. but we know of at least six confirmed victims at the scene plus a seventh who was wounded possibly fatally. we know this is a sprawling crime scene in two separate locations on the farm and that the person who turned themselves in is in the process of being interviewed almost as we speak.

now, just about 20 minutes ago we saw four san mateo county sheriff's office vehicles, they had lights on, and they came right down this dirt path and went into where the farm is. they tell us that they also brought the forensic lab van with them so they are right now processing. they have set up tents back there. i know it's difficult to see. but we have seen several tents put up there for their investigation along with the forensic lab. to give you some perspective, highway 1, which is cabrillo highway, is still open at this moment. cars are passing through no problem. we're right next to the caltrans maintenance yard, to give you some perspective of where we are. now i talked to one gentleman who's uncle worked at this farm and he said that often people live on the farm as well. he didn't know how many, but he thought at least more than a dozen people loved back there on this mushroom farm and, of course, san mateo county supervisor david canepa told us that he believes that they were also farming cannabis here as well. the gentleman i talked to was not aware of the cannabis farming
