♪ welcome to our world ♪ kids: word world! ♪ word world ♪ kids: word world! ♪ it's a beautiful world ♪ ♪ word world. ♪ kids: yay! narrator: it was another lovely day in word world. not just any day. picture day. that's when all the wordfriends get together in bear's cave to have their picture taken. yup. it's one of my favorite days of the year. what you doing? i'm trying to... to comb down my feathers so i'll look totally terrific for my... picture. oh! and now the comb's stuck! quack, quack. (laughs) here, here, let me help you. oh! (groaning) boy, it's really stuck! (grunts) oh, i'm just trying to look terrific for the picture today.

aw, don't worry, duck. you look terrific! but i want to look totally terrific. say, where'd you get that t-i-e tie? i built it all by myself. well, it sure looks terrific, bug. hmm... i wish i had a tie to wear for the picture today. well, i could help you build one, duck. you can?! (quacks) i bet if i had a hat like that, i'd look totally terrific, too. i can help you build a hat, duck. we'll need a letter t. (sighs) well, i have to agree with you there, frog. i do look terrific. this top hat goes great with my tuh-tuh-tie, and my tuh-tuh-tail. thanks, frog. don't mention it.

see you at bear's for the picture. yeah. i am one terrific-looking duck. (quacks) but i'm not sure if i look totally terrific. hmm. (gasps) sheep will know. she always has terrific things to wear. (laughs) narrator: so duck went to see sheep, who was also excited to have her picture taken. hooray, hooray it's picture day! duck: incoming! sheep: ooh! (duck quacking) ooh. (sighs) oh, i'm sorry, sheep. i was having trouble flying with this top hat and tie on. oh, that's okay, duck. how can i help you? i'm just trying to look totally terrific for our picture today. (gasps) like you in that thinga-madoodle. oh. my tutu? what two?

my tutu. two to who? who to who? exactly. what? my tutu. i'm going to wear it in the picture. oh! well, that's one terrific-looking tutu, sheep. and it's a terrific-sounding word, too. don't you think? tutu. oh! (laughs) and do you know why the word tutu is so terrific, duck? uh, 'cause it has the letter t in it? exactly. (quacks) and you know what they say about the letter t. oh, i know that song, sheep. ♪ the letter t, tuh-tuh, t ♪ ♪ the letter t, tuh-tuh, t ♪ ♪ it's a totally terrific letter ♪ ♪ the letter t, tuh-tuh, t ♪ ♪ the letter t, tuh-tuh, t ♪ ♪ this letter will make you look better ♪ ♪ you can wear a t-t-tiara and a t-shirt, too ♪ ♪ and i'll be totally terrific with my own tutu ♪

thanks, sheep. see you there. yeah. in this tie, top hat and tutu i finally look totally terrific. picture time! oh. narrator: with all those totally terrific items to wear, duck was having a hard time walking. okay. problem. um, tie here uh, top hat there, tutu-- oh, everywhere. (quacks) (gasps) oh... oh... (quacks) (sighs) oh. i'd better fly. (grunting) oh. whoa! (quacks) oh! no! narrator: flying wasn't any easier for him. (weak quacking) (strong quacking grunting) narrator: the rest of the wordfriends were at bear's cave getting ready to have their picture taken. okay, let's see. you there, sheep

and you back there, elephant. ah, perfect. say, where's duck? duck: incoming! don't take the picture. i'm coming! (gasping, duck yelling) oh! (quacking) ow! (quacks) what happened? duck, are you all right? i'm okay. (gasps) where's my tutu? (gasps) (whimpers) oh. sorry, dog. uh, and where's my top hat? bear: uh, over here. aah! boy it's really stuck. (muttering) (bug yelling) ah. where's my tie? (duck gasps) has anyone seen my tie? um, is this it here? oh, no!

my tie! oh, it must have broken apart into letters when you landed. oh! oh, no! (quacking) all i wanted was to look totally terrific for our picture today, and now i broke my tie! we'll get your tie back, duck. we'll just... all: build a word! yeah! all: ♪ it's time to build a word ♪ ♪ let's build it, let's build it now! ♪ t... i... e... tuh... eye. kids: tie! all: ♪ yeah, we just built a word ♪ ♪ we built it we built it! ♪ okay, everyone ready? say cheese. wait. how do i look? how do i look?!

all: totally terrific. (barks) (whoops) all: cheese! bear: awesome! narrator: totally terrific indeed. the end. kids: duck! that's me! guess what time it is. all: it's snack time! ♪ i got bananas a tasty treat ♪ ♪ and i've got apples juicy and sweet ♪ ♪ i've got candy, cake and more ♪ ♪ sodas, cookies, sweets galore ♪ sweets galore, indeed! you've got a sweet tooth my friend. which one's his sweet tooth, crab? he's got lots of teeth you know. get your head out of there. a sweet tooth means that you like to eat foods that have a lot of sugar. but too much sugar isn't good for you. you might lose a tooth. but i love my teeth!

♪ "s" and "t," "s" and "t" ♪ ♪ they're terrific friends, you see ♪ ♪ put them together and here's what you found ♪ ♪ "stuh"-- a whole new sound. ♪ stuh... age. all: stage! ♪ "s" and "t," they're all the rage ♪ ♪ look... we built a stage ♪ ♪ "s" and "t," "s" and "t" ♪ ♪ make a perfect blend ♪ ♪ you see ♪ ♪ though i may stammer ♪ ♪ i'll stand tall and state ♪ ♪ s-t, "stuh," that sound is great! ♪ all: stuh! ant: okay, backstage, everyone. let's get our costumes on, let's go. (sheep humming)

(sighs) what a beautiful voice you have, sheep. how do you remember all those words? w-well, duck, i... all right, everybody, take your places. we have to practice for the show tonight. all: yes, sir. okay, places everyone, places. and hit it, bugs. a five, six, seven, eight. ♪ twinkle, twinkle, little star ♪ ♪ how i wonder what you... ♪ whoa...! oof! (gasps) sheep, sheep! are you all right? uh, uh, uh, well, uh yes, that is, um well, i think so. i could use a hand though. here, sheep, let me. (grunts) (exclaiming dizzily)

oh, dear. ooh, what's the matter, sheep? well, uh, well you see... well, well it's just... i think i've sprained my hoof. sprained your hoof? (gasps): you need a cast! pig, quick! (frantic gasping) oh... well thank you. well, well, yes, that feels much better. uh, but, uh, well, i don't think i'll be able to be in the show. (loud gasp) but if you can't be in the show, we'll have to... (gulps) ...cancel it. what?! we can't cancel the show. maybe someone can take sheep's place. don't be ridiculous, pig. no one can take sheep's place. i can. what? i can do it. i can take sheep's place. "twinkle, twinkle, little star"

is my favorite song. eh, i'm not so sure, duck. we've never even heard you sing. sing? (clears throat) ♪ quack, quack, quack, quack, quack, quack, quack, quack. ♪ see? i sing like a bird. well, um can you dance? dance? (grunting) ♪ hee-hee-hoo. ♪ see? well, uh, well, if you want my opinion, i think duck can do it. okay, if sheep says duck can do it i say we let duck do it. ah-huh! goody, goody, goody, goody. ♪ i'm going to be a star. ♪ ♪ i'm going to be a star. ♪ ♪ i'm going to be a star! ♪ (quacks) narrator: that night, everyone got ready for the big show. and all of duck's friends gathered to hear him sing "twinkle, twinkle little star." (all chattering excitedly) (gasps) why is everyone sitting out there?

that's the audience, duck. audience? (gulps) no one said anything about an audience. well, who did you think would be watching our show? well, i'm sure i don't know, ant, but i can't go out there with everyone watching. they're going to laugh at me. (quacks) you'll be fine, duck. those are your friends out there. (gulps) ant: psst! are you ready, bugs? hit it! (trumpet fanfare) ladies and wordfriends our super-silly singer of sweet songs, duck! (applause, music begins) (music stops) (applause stops) (banjo chord plays) sheep (whispering): um, duck... it's time for you to sing.

♪ twinkle, twinkle, little... ♪ ♪ ...little... ♪ (gasps): ♪ ...hippopotamus ♪ ♪ how i love your big gray bottamus. ♪ (quacks) (all laughing uncontrollably) (laughter continues) where is he? duck! what happened? i couldn't remember the words to the song. i just said the first thing i saw. (quacks) i'm sorry. you know, it's... okay, duck you're just a little nervous. that's perfectly natural. it is? sure. just remember, the line is "twinkle, twinkle, little star," duck. star. (barks panting)

hey! that is a good way to remember, dog. star starts with a "stuh" sound. yeah, yeah yeah. just like... st-age. and, uh... st-airs. and stupendous. which is what you will be when you sing the right word. ah, of course. st-ar. star. star. okay. star, star, star. mm. psst! bugs! we're ready. hit it! (trumpet fanfare) ladies and wordfriends once again, that silly singer, duck! (music begins) narrator: duck just kept on trying. (music stops) (cricket chirping) oops. sorry. (music resumes)

♪ twinkle, twinkle, little... ♪ ♪ little... ♪ (crunching loudly) (gasps): ♪ ant! ♪ (blows raspberry) ♪ i have purple underpants. ♪ (laughter) (laughter continues) oh, dear. poor little duck. i'd better go check on him. oh, that's it. i give up. i thought i could take sheep's place but i can't. (quacking) (snuffling): i was wrong. wrong, wrong! (quacks sadly) no, you weren't, duck. you were absolutely right. you can do this. you just have to keep trying. don't give up. but... (sniffling) i see all those

faces out there, and my mind goes all... (cuckooing, quacking) all i can do is sing the first thing that pops up in front of my face. that's a great idea, duck. what's a great idea? well, if, uh, duck needs to see a star to help him remember, well why don't we build him a star? yeah, a star will help me remember. hmm... can we do that? oh, well of course we can. you know what that means. i sure do. that means it's time to... all: build a word! (music playing) ♪ it's time to build a word ♪ ♪ let's build it, let's build it now. ♪ st... ar. kids: star! all: ♪ yeah, we just built a word ♪

♪ we built it, we built it! ♪ a star. oh, well, what a stellar idea, if i, uh, if i do say so myself. huh. now i'll remember to say "star." whoo-hoo! (quacks) now, pull yourself together, duck. word world needs you. you're going out there a duck, but you're coming back a star! narrator: so, duck kept trying and with the help of his friends he remembered the word "star." psst! bugs! ah, here we go again. hit it, boys. (music begins) ♪ twinkle, twinkle, little... ♪ (band continues playing) ♪ star! ♪ narrator: and finally, he got it right. ♪ how i wonder what you are ♪ ♪ up above the world so high ♪
