>> well, you can see it and hear it here. a sideshow breaking out overnight in oakland, but this wasn't the only side show of the night. a big rig joining in and a separate shell at one point, several people in the crowd start to hop on the back of the truck in oakland. police say there were at least 2 others across the city late last night. quite a scene. good evening. and thank you for joining us for kron. 4 news at 10. i'm dan thorn and i'm noelle bellow. oakland police were busy last night. not just with those sideshows, 3 deadly shootings unfolded within hours of each other last night. >> and they were just mere blocks apart. kron four's gayle ong spoke to the president of the police union about what happened and what's being done about the violence. tragic. >> low tonight on the streets of oakland, investigators remain at the scenes of 3 separate friday night shootings throughout saturday

afternoon. sergeant barry donelan, president of the oakland police officers association says man was shot and killed around 07:45pm on the 7200 block of international boulevard. that's about 5 blocks away from the coliseum. bart station, a second deadly shooting happened about an hour later. just 2 blocks away again on international boulevard. 2 hours later, a 3rd shooting not far from the first 2 on 67th avenue. all 3 victims died before they could be taken to the hospital where at the same. >> number of homicides that we had last year. and that's because last year we had more than 200 for the year and this space. it's not good for the city. sergeant donald and says there are too many guns on the streets and too few officers cities awash in legal firearms. there are only 712 uniformed police officers of all ranks, which is considerably less than when i started 20 years ago to respond to violence. oakland

recently lost its 10 police chief in as many years when she floor on armstrong was fired by mayor sheng tao. >> but sergeant donald and says that hasn't impacted the work ethic of officers continue to come to work every day diligently and going to work to try and reduce crime and improve public safety for our residents. in a series of tweets, district 6 city council member kevin jenkins wrote in part, quote, i am truly saddened at this level of violence is persistent in our city. i pray for the families of those that lost their lives for the community as a whole dealing with trauma associated with gun violence. >> it is imperative that we do not become desensitized and would violence in our community become the norm. the council member also wrote he spoke with the mayor and she reiterated her support to keep communities safe. >> and get guns off the streets. >> and police have not said if the shootings are connected, the names of the victims have not yet been released. anyone with information is asked to contact oakland police in the

newsroom. gayle ong kron. 4 news. >> developing now, a 17 year-old from oakland is in jail tonight for the murder of a man in alameda county. the victim. 35 year-old lamar converse was killed late last month in ashland. police believe the suspect attempted to rob converse and then shot him multiple times. family has set up a gofundme to help with his burial costs. the 17 year-old is booked into the alameda county juvenile center. >> 3 people sitting in a cafe working on their laptops, found themselves the target of an armed robbery attempt this week. that happened just before 02:00pm tuesday. 2 men entered san francisco's lake cafe. just delay and tried to make off with those laptops. police say at 1.1 of the would-be robbers pulled out a gun in the end, those men were able to steal anything. but one of the victims was injured in the scuffle. people in the area say they were not expecting something like this to happen. >> it's really shocking to

>> when expect that and i think crime in general has been pretty. pretty on the team. so that's kind of a shocking development. >> city's district attorney's office kron 4, they have a major crimes team that focuses on prosecuting cases like this so far, though, no arrests have been made. >> also in san francisco, wild 94.9 radio host jv is still missing tonight. san francisco police say 54 year-old jeffrey vandergrift hasn't been seen since leaving his home on king street thursday night around 10. he's 6 feet tall, bald has tattoos on his arms and above his right ear. he was last seen wearing black sweatpants wild. 94.9 sent out a statement saying that they are deeply concerned and that staffers are working closely with san francisco police and vendor crafts wife, anyone with any information is asked to call san francisco police now to the north bay where a massive fire engulfed a docket

lake berryessa at least 23 boats were destroyed friday night. kron four's amanda hari. >> spoke to people who were there when those votes went up in flames. >> right now it's hard to see behind me in the dark. but friday night it was a different story when the lake was lit up with flames. >> close to 2 dozen boats went up in smoke along with the dock at markley cove in lake berryessa. the calls came pouring in. local firefighters by the time cal fire arrived. doc t looks like this was a challenging situation and >> potential dangers for firefighters get to coming down and darkness walking down the boat ramp not knowing the structure that the fire presented. some unique challenges for cal fire on the water. >> firefighter jason clay was there friday night. he says at one point some flaming debris started floating away or fighters. >> we're able to get on some boats in and. do some fire suppression efforts for the

out at sfo wondering if some folks flying in tonight might have a little shape the city by the bay. >> all right. kron 4 meteorologist rodriguez joining us now with a look at forecast. a recent. yeah. and we're tracking very dry. calm conditions out there right now in the bay area. and even for those of you in the east bay over berkeley, starting to notice an increase in that blanket of storm cloud cover relatively dry for most of the bay area. but as you can see to our east over stockton and modesto, widespread rain showers. but we're getting still a mixture of snow showers for the highest peaks in our east bay hills. so we're still seeing another round of that winter wonderland bringing some light snow showers there just to the south and east of livermore, but barely dry, calm weather pattern. but to our north, we're tracking the first of 3 storms going to make its way into the bay area as early as sunday morning. first arriving for those of you in the north bay for the rest of us. it's

going to arrive during the early afternoon hours where we are going to see some pockets of some moderate rain throughout the san francisco peninsula around one 30, but around 4 o'clock in the afternoon, that storm is going to exit the south bay of san jose by around 4 o'clock in the afternoon with drier and clear conditions by sunday night. just about a quarter of an inch of rain or less with this stronger atmospheric river arriving monday tracking that storm with another storm right behind it. hour by hour, my full forecast in just a few minutes stand. well, back to you. the reason thanks a lot. this week marks the first week of the second year >> of the russian invasion on ukraine. supporters of ukraine rallying this afternoon on the steps of the lincoln memorial in washington, d.c., rallygoers held signs in support of ukraine. they condemned russia as well. reporter dave legal has more. >> s a >> thousands of people mostly ukrainians delivered a message saturday night to the home of the russian ambassador to dc

>> welcome back. snow in the bay area is a spectacular sight to see a cold week day storm system covered mountains and snow and it's lasted all into this weekend. and with this system, as we've been saying, it's not just the higher elevations that are. >> getting snow rowena shaddox shows us what it looked like today in napa county. >> beautiful lake tahoe with snow on the mountain tops above. it's not tahoe, but lake berryessa. it's crazy. don't get to see this much. it's a couple times in a lifetime. so it >> just really need it. super we haven't had snow like that. we've lived there for over. 25 years, though. this is the first heavy snow we've had in 26 years.

reporting for us. we do want to get your 4 zone forecast is a live look at i-80 at donner lake. really slow wind down there. some big rigs moving very, very slowly. >> everything, right? when the big truck and tractor trailers are out cars behind them slow crawl along. this was the sweet spot to get up there. before now now they get up there number. it's a. >> yeah. just today alone we saw anywhere from a foot to a foot and a half of fresh powder. slightly lesser amounts at sierra at tahoe. but the four-day total 2 to 4 feet of snow. and we're going to see more than double that amount in the coming days starting sunday morning through wednesday afternoon in this year. so let's take a look at the sierra snowpack. they said that fresh powder we're tracking about 173% of normal out there right now. and we are going to see though, smooth sailing right now. i-80 at castle peak. so

drier conditions for the most part in this but we are seeing that fresh powder off to the side of the roads. but there are those pockets in lanes where you are seeing traffic flowing a little bit smoothly this evening. but by around sunday morning at 10 o'clock, all of that is going to change because we're going to be under a winter storm warning that's going to continue through monday morning at 10 o'clock in the morning and replaced by a blizzard warning because several feet of snow is expected not just for the valleys, but also for the highest peaks of the sierra. so radar for tracking some light. scattered snow showers out there right now. but future cast for going to see widespread snow showers arriving by sunday afternoon with a stronger storm were arriving by monday afternoon. this is going to be one of the strongest of the atmospheric rivers. and as you can see, those blanket of snow showers going to continue through tuesday afternoon and wednesday morning. that is

when the bulk of the snow is expected to exit this year up so sunday through monday, heavy snow, 4 to 8 inches for most of the valleys elevations above 7,000 feet. you could get up to a foot and a half of fresh powder. but 46 feet with that blizzard warning is expected for elevations above 7,000 feet, south lake tahoe, upper 20's with low 30's for truckee. and then temperatures cooling down with the approaching storms monday into tuesday. mid 20's for this so if you are heading out, you are going to notice some areas where it is going to be a dangerous commute. but overall, yourselves because sunday morning through wednesday morning. that's when we're really going to get the brunt of this year's snowstorms. so much snow up there november act. well, i feel like they forgot their first bit of snow almost in october, something that's crazy. how much they perceived. i know. but the lakes and reservoirs looking great. so we really need it. yeah. >> thanks, guys.

>> take a look at this. terrifying moments for motor home owners in southern california when the ground they were parked on just gave way happen in castaic. you can that rv just falling into the santa clara river below 2 other rv trailers also fell into the river. well, a 15 trailers were evacuated from the valencia rv travel resort to avoid being damaged. fortunately, no reports of any injuries. meanwhile, visitors at the st. louis zoo got a bit of a shock when they were told to shelter in place after a bear escaped. zoo staff say a

and a black and lee has previously served in the state assembly and state senate in oakland, philippe all kron. news. >> take a look at >> a rolled over tanker truck on interstate 80 spilling several gallons of fuel on this morning. that's according to the truckee meadows fire protection. district officials say there it is. oh, wait. this something completely different. actually, this is a story involving a deadly nevada medical plane that went down tonight. yeah, the ntsb is trying to determine what caused a medical plane to crash in nevada, killing all 5 people on board. this small prop plane went down near stagecoach, which is southeast southeast of reno. the area was under a winter storm warning late last night when the plane went down. it took emergency crews about 2 hours to find the wreckage. the passengers included the pilot, a patient, a family member, a nurse, and a paramedic. the plane is owned by the nevada-based care flight, which is an air ambulance company.

>> now to that rolled over tanker truck on i-80. it spilled several gallons of fuel this morning, according to the truckee meadows fire protection district officials say about 40 to 50 gallons of fuel leaked out of 2 tanks being hauled by that truck. crews were able, though, to create a diversionary dam in order to prevent fuel from flowing into the truckee river. the driver, however, was taken to the hospital with some minor injuries. meanwhile, for the second day in a row, the grapevine along i-5 in southern california had to close due to a winter storm. the california highway patrol says crews are working quickly to remove snow and ice from the roads. >> john leo has the latest from the back. >> for the second day in a row, the 5 freeway north and south through the grapevine is closed due to icy conditions and almost 0 caltrans and chp closed the to hone pass from parker road in castaic to grapevine road in kern county. just after midnight saturday following another blast of

winter weather. the highway was closed most of friday and only open for several hours overnight with chp escorts friday, part of window for almost 11,000 people. and nobody was cleaning the roads or anything. marcia cohen owns a home in pine mountain club, a remote community roughly 20 miles west of interstate 5 at gorman with the weather hit hard last night, he became stranded snowden with with no food and no running water knotting. not the water would not not not him. >> literally else like you bumper to bumper, big rig stranded by the side of the road. traffic backed up for miles. yeah, i was thinking about getting about 2 chicken soup and selling it on the 5 freeway to people stuck in traffic, you know, maybe make a little fortunate, you know, had a caltrans snowplows and salt trucks are out in force trying to clear the but mother nature is still calling the shots. and chp says with another storm cell moving in.

are going to be closed to any snow here in the bay resort rig a look at. >> what's been going down going on down in southern california as well. yeah. let's take a look at radar for with i-five grapevine conditions. >> looking pretty good at this hour are still tracking some light rain showers over butler, frazier park starting to dry out as a santa clarita as well. but just south of it, we are still seeing that snow and ice make sure still impacting parts of i-5 there. but for us here in the bay area, we're tracking drier weather for the most part, even those snow showers in the east bay hills starting to dry out at this 10 o'clock hour for your saturday night with future cast for tracking a weak fast-moving storm arriving sunday morning. first for those of you in the north bay and that storm track going to shift south and east for the rest of us by sunday afternoon. bring us about a quarter of an inch of rain or less with this stronger second storm on monday. this one could bring us about a quarter of an inch to three-quarters of an inch of rain or less

just monday alone with gusty winds, 40 miles per hour or less. and then the coming days, we do have a slight chance of pop-up thunderstorms because round 3 arrives tuesday morning through wednesday morning. we could see snow levels dropped as low as 500 feet with another round of snow showers for east bay hills and even santa mountains, getting anywhere from 10 to 20 inches of snow. rain totals looking pretty impressive in the coming days, anywhere from half an inch to an inch and a half of rain. at least one. it is all said and done by wednesday afternoon. so high temperatures today, noticeably drier day. hope you got to head out and enjoy it low to mid 50's when we should be in the low to mid 60's this time of year. so easily 5 to 15 degrees below average livermore only warming up to 48 degrees when you should be at 63 degrees. but relatively dry. calm night out there. wind speeds back in the single digits out there at this 10 o'clock hour. and temperatures for the most part, widespread

low to mid 40's. those of you pacifica. 41 degrees. alameda the mall, the city at 48 degrees. but check out calistoga in kelsey bill already cooling down into the upper 30's with overnight lows mid to upper 30's for our coolest inland valley. so it is going to be a relatively chilly night milder than last night, though. they thanks to that blanket of storm cloud cover. but high temperatures tomorrow very similar to today. so we're going to stay below average with the rain and snow showers through wednesday afternoon. and then we're going to see another round of rain showers by next weekend. so let's enjoy thursday and friday of this upcoming week when actually going to be the mildest for the next 10 days in the mid 50's. back to dan and noelle thanks. a lot to 70 national park is closed because of severe winter conditions >> travel along all the roads is restricted to administrative use. only the closure will last until march. 1st, this comes as a winter storm. watch for the area went into effect this evening. and

mysterious boom or shaking was all across san diego county. we thought it was just basically the wind hitting up against the doors. it was somebody working on the rule for. >> i don't probably a fell out the i don't know. it was like a rumbling sound. there was 2 different rooms. i came with the first time we just heard from me and sauna. like someone was knocking on our windows inside the house. it was he was really strange. when looked, nothing thought maybe it was the win. so about what? 2 minutes later, another one like twice the size of i just came in and just was rattling the holes. i everything was rattling for maybe 3 or 4 it was just it felt like an earthquake, but it just went so fast. we can rule out an earthquake. the usgs did not report an earthquake in the area around that time after contacting several military bases, county and police officials. >> the only explanation we've uncovered so far lies in the north county, a marine lieutenant at camp pendleton says although they cannot

caribbean, the increased by 15%. this report includes deaths occurring because of pregnancy or childbirth related complications as well as during pregnancy or within 6 weeks after pregnancy ends. the report also found covid was a contributing factor in 25% of maternal deaths in the united states in 2020 2021, about 70% of the estimated maternal deaths in 2020 occurred in sub-saharan africa. >> new at 10 o'clock iphone thieves are using a simple trick to steal phones off suspecting unsuspecting victims. first investigators say they spy on the person's passcode before stealing the smartphone. then they reset the victims. apple id in the settings app they will turn off, find my phone to prevent the owner from tracking it. then remove other authorized devices from the account. an apple spokesperson said the company is working tirelessly to prevent new and emerging threats. next. in sports, the
