the front has sliced through the bay area. it's gradually lifting to the north, but marching to the east, and as it does so, the front has passed the bay area, but behind it that's when you get the thunderstorm activity, because there's a lot of unsettled air mass behind this. so right now we're seeing the precipitation in the north bay. you can see that we have a line of showers and pretty heavy downpours occurring around highway 29 in the napa and yountville area. we're hopping on over to the east bay. we focus in on that pink area. that's mount diablo, the temperatures now at 33. so it's a combination of snow and rain mix. at 3800ft. we also have some light rain showers in and around the fremont area. there's that pink area i was alluding to, and then the santa clara valley right now is void of most precipitation, except right around saratoga where that has moved out as of now. i keep updating these images, but as precipitation slides through, it changes very rapidly. but we do have the rain showers around the san mateo bri

this afternoon, north bay saw a cool down across the bay area today, and the inner east bay saw a warm up because you didn't have to deal with some of this fog here. we see just lingering off the coastline tomorrow. i think we were we most of us are going to wake up with at least a little bit of fog and low cloud cover. the ridge is breaking down ever so slowly to be replaced by this system here dropping out of the gulf of alaska going to bring us not only the wet weather, but cooler weather. and i'll show you in the extended forecast first, let's time this out. wednesday is going to be a cloudy day. a cooler day but mainly dry. don't really see scattered showers in the forecast on wednesday. maybe a little bit of drizzle. here's a look at thursday morning. it's on our doorstep. looks like in time for the morning commute. it's going to be on and off. periods of rain could be unstable enough to even trigger a thunderstorm. we'll be fine tuning it as we get closer. here's a look at friday morning. it's still kind of hanging on. notice that trough just right over the west bringing the uns

taking a live look outside across the bay area. get ready because a cold storm is expected to sweep across the region, bringing chilly temperatures and rain this weekend. let's get over to meteorologist jessica burch. >> it is a dry day throughout the bay area but we are gearing up for some rain gearing up late tonight, early tomorrow morning. ahead of that, we will see clouds in the forecast. it is not until midnight tonight where we see the first band of rain impacting the bay area near san francisco, stretching up into the north bay with some heavier pockets of rain isolated in the center of that first band. watching the storm track off into the east into the early morning hours tomorrow, many of us will be sleeping during this time but it is worth noting if you are an early riser on the weekend, you will be dealing with really active weather. here we go all the way into the afternoon hours. notice how the first band moves off into the sierra and we are left with some hit or miss showers around 1:00. this is a pretty impressive

this stretch of road is an eerie reminder for one bay area mom. not a day goes by that ana reynoso doesn't think about her twin boys know every day, and i celebrate them every day as if they were still alive. michael and mark and a third teen, javier ramirez junior, died on christmas night in 2021 on foothill road as they were driving to help a friend. the twins were 16 at the time. this morning, ana heard that another family died on the same road on wednesday night. ana calls the news triggering. it was shocking and emotional. yeah, it's, very emotional. you just. your heart breaks, she had really hit the foothill on foothill road. the coroner has not released the names of the victims. only saying they were a family of two adults and two children under 15. investigators say speed could have played a role as the car hit the curb. and then a big oak tree before bursting into flames. police also identify the car as a vinfast electric vehicle
