rain totals very impressive, especially in san francisco and along the i 80 corridor, san francisco behind me, you can see that 5 46 got 5.46 inches of rain in under door in 24 hours. that's the second most rainfall ever. to fall in the city of san francisco. why is that so impressive records go back to 18 49. so that is a massive event, especially right along the i 80 corridor places around concord got four or five inches of rain. lots of rain to the north and the south of the i 80 as you went further north was less up in marin county. not as much rain as we saw in oakland. same thing as you went further, south santa cruz mountains got hit pretty hard as well. rainfall accumulations, ben lawman seven and over 7.5 inches. oakland hills coming up on six inches, scotts valley about 5 4.5 inches and then some city totals. these are 24 hour totals. we're going to break tomorrow. fortunately had a breakthrough that we're gonna break tomorrow. and as we go into wednesday and thursday, we're back on it with a pretty aggressive storm system. i don't think it will be as productive as this last one.

13 san francisco firefighters just warning everybody. the ground is not stable right now because of freezing storms. yesterday they rescued two people at fort funston, using ropes to repel down a cliff to get them. no one was hurt. chp helicopter helped out with that rescue. several families are looking for a place to live now after fire spread through to san francisco apartment buildings. it happened at lower haight district at the corner of divisadero and hay street. when firefighters arrived, they found flames coming from the roof of one of the three story buildings and those flames quickly spread. the fire grew to two alarms before firefighters gain control. rescue companies have gone through both buildings twice now they have confirmed that we have no civilian casualties. one firefighter did suffer a minor injury that firefighters been transported to a local hospital and will be okay. the full extent of the damage to both buildings isn't yet known, but firefighters say it is extensive 25 people have been displaced in the red cross i

ktvu photographer captured these pictures in san francisco within the past hour. our chief meteorologist bill martin, is here now. so bill is this a fast moving storm is exactly right, julius. we've been fairly quickly and we've already had a quarter of an inch up around the santa rosa area 10th of an inch in other areas. 100th of an inch. in some other areas. it's been kind of widely varied but light for the most part of quarter of an inch is nothing after some of the totals that we've seen. you can see the bay or the golden gate bridge, kind of kind of wet out there like dread and missed falling right now, um, there's a little bit breezy at times, let's take a look at the latest computer radar imagery and you can see the yellow areas representing the heaviest rainfall and again it's moving pretty quickly. i'll move it up. this is three hour loop right here, so that's over the course of three hours and you can see it's moving pretty quick. this system now is just working its way into the san jose area you can see down here down towards san jose, not wet there yet

fewer outages in san francisco in the east bay. the big one it's in the south bay were more than 17,000 customers remain in the dark ktvu south bay reporter lamonica peters live tonight in san jose, where pgd is working to repair a transmission tower that came crashing down early this morning, lamonica. pg and e says they've already rerouted power coming from this tower, and they told us that much of the power outage was due to power poles coming down and trees, toppling on top of power lines now as a five p.m. today, they said about 2100 customers here in this area, we're still out of power. we had a very large eucalyptus tree come down and strike a transmission tower . now the weight of that tower brought down power lines and three different polls that serve electricity to the world oaklyn area. this is what the transmission tower looks like after wind and rain brought down a large eucalyptus tree nearby, destroying the tower. pg and e says the amount of water in the ground weaken the trees foundation, making it easier to topple.
