feds say gang members were hiding guns and drugs if local play ground. >> sabina kuriakose is live in chester tonight for us with the details. is a bone in a. >> reporter: dawn and lucy we're talking big numbers here. more than 30 people arrested. 40 others charged and just under $2 million in drug money taken off the streets here. now the feds say the operation targets members of a violent organization known to prosecutors as the rose and upland drug trafficking group known for the neighborhood they allegedly operate in. now officials say the group hid drugs and loaded guns in chester playgrounds. they were known as stash locations prosecutors say the bust is aimed at releasing the choke hold this group allegedly has on chester. the people who live here, who work here gone to school here. >> they stash locations included playgrounds, abandoned houses. alleyways, trash cans, mailboxes, windowsills and other locations in the neighborhood. throughout the conspiracy, the

defendanting sold and distributed drugs in protected locations including widener university, the frederick douglas christian school, the chester upland school of the a arts, sun village park and the 11th upland streets play ground. to further their drug trafficking operations members used juveniles and drug addict to package, sale and distribute drug. >> reporter: and you heard there just how insidious this group was. the dea, fbi local and state police all involved in this operation. they say they took down the hierarchy of the group. they're hoping the rest follows. >> dawn, back to you. >> sabina, thank you. developing now a development in the search for the man cued of killing a pennsylvania state trooper. investigators uncovering a computer hard drive that this man used authorities say he shot and killed corporal brian dixon and wounded his colleagues two weeks ago. it happened outside the state police barracks in blooming grove and what they have gathered they say he has been

planning this a tuck for few years. they say, they also discovered he's been reading up on ways to avoid police and survive. >> i've said in the past he was someone who was very prepared and who believed probably hid things out in the woods or other locations other structures. >> officials say the dense and rugged terrain is making it particularly difficult to find eric frein. >> trap dee on the job as roofer is electrocuted and another seriously injured. it happened in havertown. let's go live to our dave schratwieser outside hup where doctors are treating that surviving worker. dave? >> reporter: lucy, that victim is 23 years old in stable condition night and he is conscious he has spoken with detectives and investigators from osha as they try figure out exactly what happened here. >> very unfortunate. shocking to see friday morning somebody lying on the ground. >> reporter: when bob strickland looked out his front door friday morning he was stunned to see police and

emergency workers right outside his neighbor's home and a man on the ground. that's when he found out the man had been electrocuted. >> no one wanted to touch hem because he could have been charge width electricity. >> police after 9:00 friday morning workers from a private roofing company were putting up this ladder at a corner home on winten avenue when it made contact with the power lines. >> at this time we're investigating as far as how contact was made with one of the wires which would be the upper wires. >> reporter: investigators say the 55 year old worker from philadelphia died at the scene. his co-worker was taken by ambulance and then airlifted to the hospital of the university of pennsylvania. >> it's an unfortunate incident that at this time we are investigating. >> reporter: peco crews cut power at the area causing 1600 customers to lose electricity for a couple of hours. osha, detectives and peco safety experts arrived on scene to investigate. >> that lump numb ladder, you

know, most guys are getting over to the fiberglass because it doesn't conduct electricity, you see. >> police say the cracking company was roofing by gerald rfffo from south philadelphia. osha investigators arrived late friday afternoon at hup to speak with the surviving worker. >> a money died. god rest his soul and rest in peace. >> the surviving victims told detectives think afternoon that both men were on the ground adjusting that ladder when it made contact with those high power lines. the investigation could took several more days to complete. lucy? >> all right, thank you very much, dave. a deadly fire in chester the flames broke out just before midnight on a row home on the 2900 block of west tenth street. it took firefighters about an hour to bring it under control. one person -- no word on cause. >> dramatic cell ton video captures a fire erupting after car crashes in a gas pump where a young mom was filling her tank. this happened last night about

11:30 at the sunoco gas station at aramingo and somerset streets in kensington. police say a woman pulled in behind 21 year old jacqueline lopez's car and accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake. she slammed into lopez's car and the gas pump. witnesses say lopez started screaming that her baby was in the back seat as the pump erupted into flames. that's when the man in the other car sprang into action. >> he didn't hesitate to jump in that and save the baby. he put the baby's life before his own. >> i was hearing the car was going to blow up before the baby out out the car. >> that little girl jamari was not hurt were you her mom suffered serious injuries. second and third degree burns on her hands and her legs. she is in the intensive care burn unit at temple university hospital in fair condition tonight. >> thank goodness that man was there to jump nap action. my goodness. >> a four year old girl is just won the heart of the nation it is the pep talk her daddy a

lucy and dawn. >> thank you very much, bruce. magical foundation is whisking dozens of children to the happiest places on earth. >> they are headed to disneyworld. 36 children from all across the country two from our area flying to florida today for a fun filled trip to disney. the something magic foundation teamed with american airlines, kids in need program to send the children who all suffer from serious medical conditions. one parent from rowan new jersey says it means the world to his son. >> zach is my son much he's four years old. born with cystic fibrosis but so far so good. he's been doing great. his health is good and he's really really excited to go. as he calls it dizzy knee world. >> the children should be a welcoming party at their hotel followed by a splash party tomorrow and off to dizzy world.

>> reporter: dr. trauma surgeon. >> we have add dull emergency department, a pediatric emergency department and a trauma center. all at once, you can deal with whatever emergency medical situation arises. >> reporter: he serves as major in u.s. army reserves medical core. >> i felt as a trauma surgeon how better to really use my skills than to help our wounded and as a trauma surgeon and civilian world i thought, that would be wonderful thing to hopefully add or at least contribute to the military and our country. >> reporter: he has completed three tours of duty in iraq and afghanistan between 2007 and 2012. >> just like tie yet or iraq our helipad is outside the receiving area. >> reporter: he says he learned fast and he can tiff medical technique on the battlefield he brought home with him to the delaware valley. >> i carried one of these on m

my -- on my battle uniform. >> reporter: the doctor has launched a tourniquet program at cooper. >> you just spin that around, and that slowly constricts the inn flow. >> reporter: old technique used to stop severe bleeding. >> i brought this back from overseas and now we stock this in the hospital. we distribute it to the emergency services. >> reporter: he says he also learned that blood transfusions are more effective than iv's for the severely wounded and that these hemo static dressing bandages introduced to the military in 1999 are now used on local patients in the cooper trauma center to block heavy bleeding. the doctor says, his experience on the battlefield has made him a better person, a better doctor, and an even more appreciative money citizen. >> care for any of our soldiers everyone were you notable experience. everyone of them is deeply touches my heart g jennifer joyce, fox 29 news.
