it's going to feel like temperatures are in the triple digits today everybody. good morning, i'm aaron gilchrist. i'm eun yangment we're in weather alert mode because of all this heat. we have your "news4 today" team up early working for you. >> let's get to meteorologist sheena parveen on what we can expect for the weather today. >> it's going to be a hot one. don't say we didn't warn you. temperatures feeling from 100 to 103 degrees. we knew it would be a hot one today. but the other thing is, we're really not going to have rain relief in the forecast. we tend to see pop-up thunderstorms not so much today. stay hydrated, stay in the shade. but the other thing is, we're

through tomorrow. big cooldown ahead for many, many days. i think a lot of people may really like this extended forecast. we'll look at that in a bit. 76 degrees right now. it's warm and humid. it's dry. that's good for the commute. already feeling around 100 degrees. you want the air on in the car today. not much in the way this afternoon either. how cool is it about to get. let's check the roads with rob stallworth with wtop. good morning, rob. >> good morning, sheena. the roads are dry. that's the good news. the bad news is virginia. northbound i-395. the first problem is the hov lanes are blocked from the 14th street bridge. after king street, we do have the crash blocking the left lane. use caution. delays northbound back to the springfield interchange. on route 4 northbound after wayson's corner. still with a crash and response. only the right side of the

roadway is getting by. live from the wtop traffic center, i'm rob stallworth. back to you. >> we're following breaking news. four people in critical condition after a train crash. the train was filled with people and ran into an empty train outside philadelphia overnight. >> one passenger said people went flying into walls. when the trains hit, there was blood everywhere. another said the train was experiencing issues before the crash. septa officials have not confirmed that report. it happened in upper darby, pennsylvania. 42 people were hurt. no one died in the crash. >> we're getting an update object breaking news. new details coming in, in just the last 60 seconds. out of bwi marshall airport. a security investigation had been under way. it was slowing down travel plans, we understand, from the airport. we just learned the all clear has been given. the investigation is now over and all the checkpoints at the airport are

calls from the naacp in prince william county for the controversial board chairman to step down are getting louder. >> the civil rights organization says in the wake of charlottesville violence, they're damming to the country and the county. they're accusing stewart of caring more about his campaign seeking nomination for senate than the diverse sf prince william community. >> he provides to those folks. again, the explicit, i don't agree with neo-nazis or white supremacist. but i agree with their right to say what they have to say. typically, they're white supremacists and racist and horrible people. what i don't want to do is label everybody everybody who wants to support our sprum si. that's what the left is trying to do. >> the county board has been on an august ee

september. the congress map will be at the center of it as usual >> don't do it. >> get the camera out. anger outside of the prince george's county courthouse. this is video of the suspect in the triple murder mother attacking our photographer monday afternoon. before the confrontation, a judge ordered a mental evaluation for the suspect. antonio williams repeatedly yelled out during his hearing. prosecutors are not convinced he's actually mentally ill. prince george's county police admitted to stabbing his 6-year-old sister and two cousins to death. the mother found the girls friday at a home in clinton. this morning, dozens of families will wake up to find out whether they'll have to find a new home. >> this is not the first time they've f

in the lind hill condominiums. justin, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. things are not the way they used to be. in recent years, the condos have fallen into disrepair. take a look back here. one, two, three floors of windows covered in plywood. fire dj seen outside the outside. squatters have moved in here as well and now there are maim juror fire code violations posted inside their building. family may have to move out in two hours. prince george's fire department was here back on friday doing a walk-through. we were here with them as they posted notices of nonworking fire alarms and standing trash and debris in the building. also unsecured fire doors as well. fire officials saying right now, about 100 people are now living in this two building complex here.

many are -- many have young families. all wondering what's next. a condo association lawyer said there's been talk of a sale of the two-building complex. that would help cover some of the debt. they're now working to see what theng do to make -- they can do to make do. >> you cannot please efrp all the time. we're trying to find a collusion best for any of them. they extend beyond the recent ir issues. >> again, that work and comment will come in less than two hours. >> justin finch, thank you. one, two. smile.

perfect. >> mayor bowser celebrating the first day of school here in the district. she was in continually down where she took a lot of pictures with parents and students. making it a priority this year. she launched a safety campaign to get drivers to slow down and watch for students. >> nice to see the smiles on the first day. a lot of these kids walk. watch out for them. >> while you go to the bus stop, you can see exactly how long they have to wait there. prince george's county is reminding parents you can track your kids, but when school begins by using an app, the app is called bb district by -- several people use it. if you want to give it a try, you can do that. the first day of school is september 6th. this is a warning near the u.s. botanic garden. the second of three corpse flowers here in the district is blooming now. >> how far do you think the smell goes? >> there's only one more of the

storm team 4 will be checking in with the national weather service on a possible tornado in southern maryland. this video is in charles county around route 234 between leonard town and clements. as you can see in the video, that large cloud mass appears to be a funnel cloud on the ground. >> this morning we're hearing the denseville area saw a lot of damage. there weren't reports of anyone getting hurt. if confirmed, this would be the third tornado to hit maryland in the past month.

the beltway as you pass through prince george's county. looking pretty good so far. no real big issues there. wtop traffic center, i'm rob stallworth, thank you. it's 6:17. it looks like the purple line is back on track this morning. >> larry hogan expected to sign a funding agreement tore that project soon. this new agreement would free up millions of dollars already appropriated and a total of $900 million over the life of the funding arrangement. the purple line would connect montgomery and prince george's counties. state officials estimated a potential opening of 2022. an eclipse watch party left a woman dead in kentucky. that 23-year-old woman was killed when a car hit her as she was standing on a sidewalk looking at the sky. two other people were hurt there. the cause of that crash is still under investigation. many of us had our eyes to theki

there were some just opening their eyes for the first time. >> we're talking about the babies who were born yesterday. how sweet are these little people. meet the two babies. they were born minutes apart at washington hospital. the moms gave birth during the middle of the eclipse. >> the proud parents say they're ecstatic to have the newborns become a part of history. >> i guess she was ready. yeah. >> said he wanted to come into the world on a special day. >> definitely talked about the idea that it would be -- it would be funny if she came during the eclipse. >> shout out to their moms for doing interviews after they gave birth. seriously, that's a lot of work. these parents may be happy to learn that many astrologers believe that babies born during the eclipse may be destined for leadership. one other famous eclipse baby is britain's prince william who was born in 1982. very cool. congratulations. just about

new research out about when and how often women should have a mammogram. cornell university researchers looked at the three most common screening recommendations. they disdiscovered that the yearly screenings reduced deaths by 40%. for some kids, back to school means making a big change. for my little girl, that meant a haircut. not any old haircut. look at that. you see the ponytail. my daughter cut off 12 inches her hair to donate to locks of love. that is a nonprofit which provides hair pieces to children in need who are suffering from medical hair loss. now, she's had really long hair. it was her thing. she was a little nervous to part with it. but she ultimately decided she wanted to help a child who might need the hair more than she does. >> so thoughtful. your kids are conscientious and

family is finally getting answers. prince george's county police arrested two men for shooting and killing this man in oxon hill in june. the two men had an ongoing dispute with him. this is not the type of abduction story we're used to hearing. a 13-year-old is charged with trying to abduct a 36-year-old woman. on saturday, the teen grabbed the woman as she was walking her dog on elm farm road in wood bridge off prince william parkway. the woman told police the boy ran off when she screamed. police are not identifying the suspect because he's a juvenile. a first of its kind interchange will be dedicated in hay market where route 15 meets i-66. it's northern virginia's first diverging diamond interchange. what that means. instead of looping vehicles off route 15 on to 66 via clover leaf

a scary scene just outside of philadelphia where two trains collided. >> one was filled with people and four people are in critical condition this morning. matt delucia from our sis ister station in philadelphia is on the scene in upper darby, pennsylvania. >> the transit agency that overseas. they're trying to find out what caused this crash early this morning. that is one of the damaged cars as it sits and the investigators are poring over the evidence. trying to figure out what caused this early this morning. 42 people were injured, four critically. video here from the scene a little earlier. authorities, witnesses on the scene tell us this crash happened after midnight. the inbound high-speed line train was coming into this hub. it's called the 69th street transportation center. the train crashed into another train parked and unoccupied. it was filled with ambulances and police. the moments following the crash as you can imagine. we spoke with one oth

code, that means the families who live here, children, seniors and others will have to find another place to live. fire officials should be auto arriving for another walk through of the complex here. on friday, they posted violation notices after finding several hazards, including nonworking fire alarms and standing trash and debris here. the condo association was given until this morning to make the repairs. if they are unmet, fire officials will post eviction notices. we just met one neighbor who says he's just now hearing about all this. >> you hear this news, what are you thinking? you have to leave? >> yes. i may have to leave. >> reporter: if that eviction is called around 58 or so this morning, those living here have 24 hours to -- the red cross
