"action news" reporter eva pilgrim. >> definitely it has come down to the wire, but it appears that septa and union workers will be able to make some sort of a deal. they are still inside talking at the table right now. we were just told by those inside that the deal is about 85% done. right now they're working on tweaking the language, specifically about pensions. and they are hopeful they will be able to come down in the next hour or so and announce that the deal is done. it appears that a strike will be avoided and service will continue as normal. riders can hopefully breathe a sigh of relief now. it appears that union workers and septa will be able to make some sort of a deal and a strike will be avoided. we will, of course, continue to follow the story and bring you the information as soon as it becomes available as soon as they come down to announce that deal. live here in old city, eva pilgrim channel 6 "action news."

>> thank you. the scene as eric frein emerged from his preliminary arraignment this morning at the pike county courthouse in milford, pennsylvania. it almost seems the police escort were holding him in place so everybody could take a look. he confessed to shooting two state troopers and killing one of them. and the report first appeared on channel 6 bringing relief to residential communities in the poconos and almost certainly a sense of enormous satisfaction for the pennsylvania state police. david henry is live at what has been the police staging area during the 48-day search. and vernon odom live in frein's hometown. and david, you were the only local reporter to have spoken with the federal marshals who captured frein.

>> that's right, jim. they have quite a story to tell. it took ten days -- i'm say 48 days, $10 million but they finally got their man. speechers tightening the circle for days. and late yesterday eric frein spotted by a u.s. marshal. >> i caught movement in this area. it was high grass, weeds. >> scott milkowski and his team with searching an abandon airstrip and he spotted frein by chance. >> i turned towards me. i identified myself as law enforcement and i told him to get on the ground. he proposed out. and he was about 5 feet away. i said who are you, what is your name? he said eric frein. >> the end of a manhunt that gripped the nation. arraigned in the court this morning charged with killing the state trooper bryon dickson and wounding alex douglass september 12. the seven-week manhunt that followed kept the community on

edge and tested the resolve of multiple law enforcement agencies nut -- but they never lost their resolve. >> and i heard over the radio they got frein and it is satisfying. that at least in some way they can bring closure to the families of trooper dickson and douglass. >> and searching the hanger where frein was arrested they believe they found the murder weapon. behind the bars in a cell in the prison isolated from the other prisoners. the marshals who caught him thought he seemed disappointed. >> defeated. >> he was unarmed. >> he knew that it was over. >> when frein was brought in wearing trooper dickson's handcuffs riding in his patrol car he appeared to have a cut on his nose and bruises on his face. and the marshal says it happened as he secured frein on an asphalt runway.

soothing. >> we can get back to normal now, get back to life. >> how is it different? >> everybody is on edge and worried, nobody knew. >> and carrying the high-powered guns and helicopters overhead for more than 45 days has taken its toll. now they are gone, it's over. and seeing frein in custody is an early christmas gift. >> difficult. difficult at times. >> because? >> you have to watch where you are going, what you do. happy the police got him. they did a terrific job. we gave them a lot of support. >> and not exactly back to normal. where he continued to hide, is it safe for people to go back? >> when the hunting will resume in the woods and what is the safety fact or for any catche h has for pipe bombs and

their ballots beginning at 6:00 a.m. and polls open at 7:00 in develop and delaware, and all three states the polls close at 8:00. it was a day to celebrate innovation at the university of pennsylvania. across south jersey and delaware. and then we will be drying out saturday night. sunday morning the sunshine is back. however, sunday is when the winds are really whipping up. the low pressure will strengthen and bomb out near halifax. that means wind gusts up to about 40 miles per hour. the morning wind chill, 32 degrees. if you're running the ben franklin bridge run i will be dressed for 32-degree wind chills. ment -- the afternoon not much better, wind-whipped through sunday. and the clouds in place, hours arriving by midnight. overnight 40, 48 in center city. and the forecast, not a pretty saturday. raw and rainy with periods of rain on and off throughout the day. looking at about a quarter inch to three-point-quarters inch of rain. it will feel cooler with the
