>> good morning, it is 5:30 on this saturday, october 25. here's some of the stories we're following on "action news." a man is beaten and shot on a south philadelphia street. he may not be the victim of what police say could have happened. we're learning about the gunman who opened fire inside a washington state high school killing one classmate. >> a strike for septa workers

pulling away. clear skies across southeastern pennsylvania, high clouds pushing into western pennsylvania as i speak. we're expecting a nice day, lots of sunshine. here's the morning outlook, temperatures climbing into the 50s, 9:00 a.m., 55 degrees, 10:00 we're up to 58. as we look ahead looks like a nice weekend overall. it will turn windy, the wind will gust tomorrow, back to the 70s we go next week. i'll have the details in the seven day when i come back in just a bit. >> new this morning, a man is recovering in the hospital after being hit with a baseball bat and shot. police are trying to determine if the couple that did it, because the man was trying to break into their car. it happened in the queen section of the city. the 36-year-old kensington man was hit so hard with the bat that the bat broke. when he tried to run away from

the couple the women pulled a gun and shot him in the left leg. police say it looks like someone broke into a car on the street. the couple ran off, officers are trying to find them. now to the latest on the deadly shooting inside a washington state high school. more details are emerging this morning built alleged gunman jaylen fryburg. he was not a loner, very popular on the football team, as this video shows recently named homecoming prince. a media social account says he was struggling someone, possibly an argument over a girl. he killed one classmate and wounded four others before turning the gun on himself. >> possible shooting at the high school in the cafeteria. >> reporter: that police scanner describing the scene at

mariesville high school. >> we have two involved, two deceased. >> reporter: two at the local hospital, the other two at harbor view medical center. on the scene, motive is unclear. were they targeted specifically. that is something police here are trying to figure out. but eyewitnesses and law enforcement sources identify the shooter as jay rent fryburg. during a lunch session he opens fire in the cafeteria. >> i hear four gunshots, i looked behind me and i saw a gunpointed at this one table. >> the school in lockdown, students huddled in classrooms after -- only let out until

after the threat was gun, a girl was killed. the weapon used was acquired legally. abc news, los angeles. >> police are investigating a deadly crash involving a pedestrian. chopper 6 was over the scene in trenton. police say a pedestrian was hit by are a car before 9:30 p.m. the driver stopped shortly after the incident no word if the driver will face charges in the accident. chopper 6hd was above the scene of a shooting of a 16-year-old boy in northern liberties. it happened at 9:00 p.m. on fairmount avenue. no word on his condition. police are looking for two men seen leaving the scene on foot. a storied high school football rivalry did not takes place at central bucks west high school because the football season was canceled that meant no homecoming game against

central bucks east. the decision came following hazing allegations. the district found several freshmen on the team were forced to perform humiliation acts. most of the students we spoke with were disappointed how the decision and the acts that prompted it have affected it. >> to go to the biggest game of the year and find out it's canceled is definitely disappointing. >> every member of the coaching staff has been suspended for allowing the situation to get out of control. as the manhunt for accused cop killer eric frein continues a man is charged by police for lying to police saying that frein asked for entrance into canada and needed false

i'm matt o'donnell. channel 6 "action news." >> as you heard matt mention you can watch more with his one on one interviews with candidate tom wolf and governor tom corbett that's tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. on abc. septa union workers in the city may hit the picket line. 234 will meet tomorrow to take a strike authorizationing vote. there's no word on when they might go on strike if approved. a press conference will be held sunday afternoon to discuss why the union is unhappy with the current contract. they have been working without a contract since march. they will continue working toward a new agreement. the struggling casino

the milder ocean temperatures. satellite and radar showing cloud cover across the great lakes. but really that's about it. across eastern pennsylvania, most of new jersey the delmarva getting into the virginias and carolinas as we look further down the road there's not much going on. this system here up into canada that will stay to the north. the air behind the front is pacific in origin it's not arctic. so the air is not going to drop off all that much. today we're ahead of it winds out of the southwest 70 degrees, a ton of sunshine, it's going to be a terrific saturday. as we head into sunday, the low off to the north, high pressure buildings in we get the wind tunnel effect. that will bring the winds, we'll say anywhere from gusts 30 to 35 miles per hour. combination of sun and clouds, temperature wise we're in the mid 60s, sunday is a nice day, but with the wind it will feel chilly. here's the pattern next week, once again we'll see the 70s
