continues. >> hello again. here what happens is happening on "action news" tonight. a massive wildfire continues to burn in northern california leaving thousands out of their homes. and the man accused of starting it goes before a judge. the latino community in philadelphia is taking selfie everywhere. and hundreds of service members becoming heros. and fighting to contain an explosive wildfire forcing the evacuation of 3,000 people. moments ago the man accused of starting the fire went before a judge. and abc news reporter joining us live from los angeles tonight with the very latest. >> hi there rick. the firefighters have been able to save each and every building,

but we just learned that several homes burned. the man who they say purposely set the fire appeared in court moments ago pleading not guilty. fast-moving flames tearing through northern california are more dangerous than firefighters say they have ever seen before. the king wildfire exploded to 119 square miles southeast of san francisco threatening homes. and they say this man, wayne allen huntsman is to blame. >> a career criminal. >> he has a history of arrests including car theft and battery, and now charged with arson and putting a dozen firefighters in dangers when forced to deploy fire shelters. >> i can't understand what the guy was thinking. >> starting behind ralph lauren's house after one broke in. huntsman sister says it is all a misunderstanding.

and the photo of a maryland man a warrant for kyle price from maryland. he and another man were riding bucks comi -- bikes coming up b the women. and they knocked her on the ground, demanded money and went through the pocketbook stealing pepper stray. and holding up a peat is that shop caught on surveillance cameras. the male suspect simulated a weapon under the shirt and told them to empty the register. and he fled on a bike with an unknown amount of money. if you recognize him call the police. the district attorney looking to try a police officer on theft charges. a mistrial in the case against charles gibson seen in the blue shirt.

the jury was unable to reach unanimous verdicts on any charges against him. gibson, the former son-in-law much corbett accused of stealing money under an undercover narcotics sting. and every month removing the uniform and getting back to every day life. it can be a challenge and a program allowing the veterans to continue to serve while building up the community they live in. a major building project underway in philadelphia's point breeze neighborhood. six homes worked on in one weekend. the manpower behind the project centers around former military members. it's called boots for building and it is kicking off right here in philadelphia. >> this is a great place to demonstrate veterans and the brotherhood we have in service, coming together in the city of brotherly love. >> partnering with habitat for

other news, residents and staff at one delaware retirement community are fighting the flu. they administered flu shots today in glen mills. studies show people 65 years and older are at greater risk of serious complications from influenza. the seniors given what is described as a higher-dose vaccine providing significantly more protection for this age group. flu season starts in october and peaks in january or february. and welcoming new students today, the traditional white coat ceremony. family and friends watched as each was cloaked in the first official doctor's coat. it demonstrates the student's commitment and dedication as they begin the journey in the medical profession. a new campaign to get latino residents have community pride. encouraged to take selfies and share them on social media. and we have that story for

this is the scene in unionville last week. the corresponding sergeant and captain didn't hesitate to hop into the burning vehicle and pull the driver to safety. one week later the victim is doing fine and was actually able to shake hands with the officers who saved him. a woman in the final stages ever bone cancer seeing her dream come true. moved the wedding date and location so her mother could take part. when she was told she had a sort time to live she planned the wedding in the hospital chapel in 48 hours. she will have her planned wedding in may since many couldn't make it to the hospital, but mom was there. >> how sweet. sports, the nfl commissioner said problems with the league begin with him. >> jeff skversky live in the "action news" sports center tonight with more on goodell's news conference. jeff? >> hey guys. the nfl commissioner, roger goodell, says he is working on a new personal conduct policy for
