pregnant woman was dead and a baby now fighting for life. good evening, i'm czar bloomquist. i'm walter perez. big story is search for gunman who killed a mother to be as investigators sort through what had happened, doctors continue to work to save the baby's life. "action news" reporter kenneth moton is live at philadelphia police headquarters with the very latest, kenneth. >> reporter: well, sarah, that premature baby is still listed as critical tonight, at temple university hospital, and i can report to you, that homicide detectives have spent the evening, sorting through those conflicting witness statement about this shooting. they are trying to figure out who was the the target and who fired that deadly shot. shell casings littered this block in the frankford section of the city. police say intended target was never hit but 26 year-old pregnant megan doto could not escape the gun fire. >> i was sitting next to her and, next thing you know, you ke was shot in the face.

she was laying face down on the ground. >> reporter: this friend said they were near victim's home on the 1500 block of adams avenue watching after a neighbor's two small children around 11:00 a.m. a block away on griscomb street police say someone started firing shots. investigators are working to figure out circumstances surrounding the shooting. >> they should be punish at all cost and if they have a conscious they would turn themselves in. >> reporter: young woman was almost eight months pregnant was pronounced dead at temple university hospital but doctors were able to perform an emergency c-section. the baby's father was interviewed at police headquarters. he told "action news" that his baby had died, but the victim's family told us that the new born girl was still hanging on in critical condition. >> the young girl that is supposed to have a baby and then all of a sudden stuff like this happens. it vice bad. she was a nice girl. >> reporter: they happened to be victim's former landlord and they say their daughter lives next to the scene. their grandchildren typically play on this street. >> they said there were shells

a state trooper vehicle overnight. it happened at 3:00 a.m. this morning on the schuylkill expressway at montgomery drive. investigators say two troopers park their vehicle in the left lane while responding to an accident when another vehicle slammed into their car. the troopers were taken to the hospital, with relatively minor injuries. pennsylvania state trooper who was ambushed outside a barracks on friday night is conscious now, and talking for the first time. investigators are hoping he will be able to provide details about the gunman who shot him and killed one of his colleagues. the the troopers were ambush during a shift change at barracks in blooming ton grove, blooming grove in pike county. corporal bribing dickson who used to work at, philadelphia belmont barracks was killed. shooter is still on the lose. police are following good leads based on tips. troopers have set up a checkpoint near the scene of the shooting and asking motorist if they saw anything. a $50,000 reward is offered for any information. it was an emotional honor for fallen police officer,

plymouth township police officer, brad fox, whose family helped unveil a plaque renaming a portion of the york road in warminster. he was shot and killed in the line of duty two years ago this road was often traveled by fox in his youth. he would commonly take york road to localize rink where he played hockey for william tenant high school. plymouth township's police chief says fox was a living embodiment of the general famous quote from general george path the on. >> it is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died, rather we should thank god that such men lived. >> fox was also a marine who served two tours of duty in iraq. a trip to the amusement park ended with a rescue for some visitors in new jersey today. several rides got stuck when the the power went out here the at six flags great adventure in jackson township. some thrill seekers were left stranded in the air a short time. everybody was safely unloaded within 20 minutes. nobody was hurt. park officials are trying to figure out why the power went
