>> live look at storm scan3, snow falling across the area could make for dicey commute depending where you are as you can see from the cbs-3 mobile weather lab those already starting to stick a bit there on the roads and temperatures have fallen slow it down. >> i'm ukee washington. >> i'm erika von tiehl. we start things off with traffic and weather together can katie and jessica. >> good morning, starting to see some snow in some of my cameras over here, katie. how serious will this storm be? >> i won't say serious not major storm, but it is a big headache. and i think specially for you it will keep you on your toast just this morning, because we are dealing with pretty much the worse possible timing, straight in the middle of our typical morning rush. and we start things offer just by taking quick peak outside here. you're going to find you got to look closely, look through the headlight there little light dusting actually view from our very own rooftop here. , facing south, you can see no mixing, it is all snow. we continue to get a lot of reports this is now moving and actually verifying on radar, a little bit further off to the north and the east at this point. so pretty much everybody is getting in on it, at this point. say for maybe parts of burlington, ocean counties, but it will be with us generally through the better part of the morning before it begins to quickly retreat. meantime we have winter storm warnings, as well as winter weather advisories.

team three coverage continues with eyewitness neutral reporter justin finch at 69th street terminalment thank goodness you wore the big code today. -- coat today good morning. >> good morning, yes. snow began falling here, about 6:30 or so, coming down pretty heavy, steady, ever since. looking hine me, you can see how the snow is accumulating somewhat by that septa police car. and as you see on the roads kind of there, too bad part, cars should be slowing down, which penndot has been asking to do, asking drivers to take it easy out there. >> familiar site and sounds, the crunch under your foot, and then the feel of the cold. >> it is cold, nose is freezing, ears pretty cold. >> school bus driver, doris downing, missed her first bus to work. and though she'll be driving later, she happier to see the salt out for her walk. >> good that they're taking time to make sure it is safe. >> good chance penndot keeping close eye on your commute. traffic cameras, aimed at state road so penndot knows where to focus its effort. >> we're ready set go. we've been red. >> i district executive lesser says, more than 200 trucks will be out clearing streets, well into the afternoon. >> we urge motorists to be very careful, to drive at reduced speed to also allow additional time to get to their destinations. >> in preparation crews began salt brining state roads at midnight. ahead of the below freezing temperatures, that have triggered code blue warnings in our area.

20th street around 11:30 last night. witnesses say they saw two mask men running from the scene after shots were fired. anyone with information is urge the to contact the police. a south jersey grandmother is behind bars this morning accused of kidnapping her grandchildren. forty-two year old cinnamin kelly was arrested overnight in prospect park delaware county. middle township police say she took off with her one and two year old grandchildren yesterday after leaving superior court in cape may county after the judge denied her custody. another scare for the nypd, just weeks after two new york city police officers were murdered in their patrol car. last night two officers shot while responding to robbery call. manhunt for the suspect is still underway. dawn champion with the latest for you right now from new york. >> new surveillance video could help identify the men involved in this shooting of two nypd officers. and investigators say the video shows one suspect opening fire on the officers, who were responding to grocery store robbery in the bronx. >> this is absolutely a case officers going above and john the call to protect their fellow new yorkers. >> officers and three partners getting offer duty when they heard the 911 call and went back out to investigate the robbery. officials say the shoe g happened when the officers approached two men matching the description of the suspect involved. >> one is a 30 year old male suffered gunshot wounds to the left arm and lower back, currently in the operating room and is list in the

critical but stable condition. the other officers is a 38 years old shot in the chest and left arm and is also list in the stable condition. fellow officers swarmed the area searching for the suspects, but both got away. this happened two weeks after wenjian liu and rafael ramos sat in their cruiser in brooklyn. one of the funerals just took place sunday. >> we depend on them to keep the city safe. >> the mayor praised the nypd for helping to reduce overall crime in the city in 2014. >> don champion, "eyewitness news", on the "cw philly". >> happened today the fraud trial of don tollefson is to happen in a bucks county courtroom. yesterday the former philadelphia sport caster rejected a deal, it included two to 20 year sentence with treatment program that would have reduced his jail time. tollefson is accused of stealing $340,000 intended for sports trips benefitting charities. tollefson does not regret his decision to withdraw his guilty plea, last month. there is now bad guys in this case. this is real a story of how you reach for the stars and fell to the earth. i just look forward to the opportunity as mr. goldman says to tell my side of the store. >> i tell of son a recovering drug and alcohol addict spent most of last year under houssay necessary treatment programs in north philadelphia. congress goes back to work today with republicans in charge. the first day includes swearing in of new members and installation every leaders and committee chairs. house speaker john boehner

through, morning kate. >> i like that, hello miss albert a what do you have in store for us? little headache this morning? here we take you out to "skycam 3". look for you right now out in atlantic city, very obvious that we've got some snow that's currently covering the sand, you can see it on top of the roofs at this point. and it is just a grayish-blue start to the day. so visibilities, may be hampered as a result of this. you want to make sure that you're just giving yourself that extra space between vehicles slowing it on down out there but it is a relatively light fluffy snow. so it is blowing around pretty easily. let's take you to another neighborhood network camera, school buses roll through on cue. no delays up here at broad heads ville specking certainly some snow, but not into the winter weather advisory criteria, although it is very cold out there. check it out. 15 degrees normally we see mountains in the distance, can't make them out because of the poor visibility. system at hand, not major storm, absolutely not but it is a system that's going to mess with us here certainly. it is classic clipper. a, it is quite b it doesn't have ton of moisture, c, this is big one what they're phone for, it will reinforce the cold in it wake, which you will see. so already doing that for us, in fact, tell temperatures feeling more like the teens in most spots you know what? it could be a lost worse. let me show you why. brutal. you know it is bad when you run out of colors to show on the core tour map. feeling more like 28 degrees below zero, up through the hudson bay area, more like it is almost 40 below zero, and those are your feels-like values. but the vicious wind chills coming for us as well, as we look ahead to if the your

weather here generally the brunt of this system is here right now. it will last the next couple of hours, but you know what? bark bark is a lot worse than the bite. not looking at a lot of accumulation out of this, even by the early evening evening rush looks a lot better than the a.m. rush. by tomorrow we have to deal with additional northwest wind cranking, to help create couple every wind driven snow showers, but shouldn't accumulate anything. here's one more quick check for you though on how much we're talking here, general one, 2 inches is the expectation, model run so, its guidance, not gospel, but real good guide what we can spec here as the day progresses again the brunt of it is starting right now underway, as we speak. and, i know we find some flakes flying out here as we send things out to meteorologist, justin drake brick, liver in the mobile weather lab. good morning justin. >> reporter: hey, good morning, katie. that's right actually at longwood gardens right now weaver light snow going on currently, temperature right now at 17 degrees, and we want to take you outside right now see what's happening here at longwood gardens. snow covered parking lot right now as we speak some of the roads around here, same deal. that's been a problem that coating to half inch on some of the roads. so we talk about that tuesday travel. and show our weather graphic. here we go the morning we give it a red light. as we see that steady light snow, the afternoon, gets little bit better as the snow begins to taper off. and then even by the evening not full green light because still could be some slick spots, even though the snow has ended. so again those temperatures stay below freezing, currently

at 17 degrees, and again i want to bring you back here live from the cbs-3 mobile weather lab, we have the light snow continuing to fall, traffic is picking up, with rush hour, buck you can see snow covered roads that's the latest here, in longwood garden, we send it back to you guys in the studio. >> buddy, thank so much. slow your roll coming to up those stop signs. >> no kidding? >> you can definitely slide on that. >> inch died. morning. >> no one's prepared, but fortunately not ton of snow, un for the lip exact wrong time. rush hour beginning to kick underway. exactly what i am talking b few cameras picking up some snow here. right now just going to start things offer out on the blue route. where you can see some snow covered roads there and everything still kind of moving along okay, and but you can see some brake lights right over here in the southbound lanes right around route one northbound, moving along just fine there, as well. but we can't urge you enough to use some caution take some time. little extra time in your morning, because we will hit roads little slippery. same thing out in new jersey, you can see some snow starting to accumulate on the roads there, 42 at creek road. so the northbound lanes starting to be a little bit slow. gathering in a little bit of volume headed toward 295 or possibly in to philadelphia, the surround area bridge. you can see the southbound lanes, with salt truck actually pull over to the side here waiting to spread some salt around, fortunately, and that's a good thing because we want to be safe when traveling, as well. over on the schuylkill, blue route to the vine, 20 minute trip, just little bit slow. 422 eastbound from oaks into 202, really heavy trip there

that's going to take you about 18 minutes. erika, back over to you. >> thank you the west coast is also dealing with some wild weather, just of a different nature. hundreds of people in washington state in this neighborhood they're being told to evacuate, to leave these homes after a landslide damaged several houses. >> just terrible, that was the moment the grounds gave way above all of those homes. the houses outside seattle crumble under the weight of all of that dirt. >> forecasters say the threat of landslides going to last a few more days. >> fully loaded exploded after crashing into utility truck at intersection in st. petersberg overnight. you can see those intense flames lighting up the night sky. the driver of the tanker by the way was flown to area hospital with serious burns. >> and investigators in san francisco, are looking into a suspicious fire at the famous mrs. doubt fire house. see the burn marks on the house used in the late robin williams comedy. the man who owns the house told police, he's having problems with a former client but he's not sure who set the fire. >> two more women have joined a defemation lawsuit against bill cosby. in a amended federal complaint, theresa and linda say that cosby publicly branded them as liars through statements by his representatives. the women have separately accused cosby of acting inapropriately with them in the 19 70s. they're joining the defemation suit filed last month by

i'm ukee washington, let's get right over to the weather center and check in with katie on the snow falling around the region. >> good morning, that's right. you know the storm is certainly coming in, just weak little clipper system. but coming in with snow for everybody. we're all spec to go see modest accumulation out of it and if you haven't seen it begin yet you're one of the very few. storm scan3 obviously enveloped with snow right now just one example of it outside beach patrol headquarters in margate. no sand visible other than what you have got there, which is just strictly a light dusting of snow. but our general expectation one, 2 inches across the board, by the time it is all said and done, basically all said and done as we approach the evening hours but this is a slipper that's absolutely going to reinforce the chill. so do you have budged up. not just today but all week, jess. >> yes unfortunately coming at the exact wrong time. right when our rush hour is beginning to be at its heaviest here, 95 around washington avenue, you can see, some snowfall here, starting to accumulate over into the shoulder, the northbound lanes moving along just fine still. we still want to urge to you use some extra caution give yourself a little bit more time. outside in chester county, as well, by the 30 bypass right around 322 see a lot of heavy snowfall right here, starting to accumulate in the shoulder, everybody has slow going headed eastbound the westbound lanes doing fine. ukee? >> jessica, thank you. next update at clock 55, up next on cbs this morning how a hacking group says it could fake your fingerprints. we're on the "cw philly" on these channels. gogood morning. we thought our cable internet was fast. but, our uploads are half the speed of our downloads so our internet is really half-fast. so half-fast.

"eyewitness news" reporter justin finch outside 69th street terminal right now, to kick off our coverage for this morning justin, good morning. good morning ukee, yes the it began falling just about 6:30 this morning, as you can see still holding steady at this point. now penndot began it preps just after midnight. they have been continuing to stand at the red think morning ever since. now, septa has been working on the salting here, too they began salting early this morning, about 4:00 in the morning, paying special attention to the curves around here at the 69th street

terminal. they also gave the bus wait here several salting. now, penndot as i mentioned earlier, got early early rather start as well. focusing on the 76, 676 and the 95 this morning. they also have some 200 trucks out, salt brining and plowing roads, as well. they'll also be watching the roads, and traffic cameras this morning looking for any trouble spots out there that might be caused by any slick roads this morning. >> if urena good driver, everything will be okay. take your time. don't rush. take your time, everything should be good. >> good that they're taking time to make sure that it is safe. because, who wants to fall in this cold? i don't like to fall when it is hot. >> this morning, no matter if you are driving or walking the salt out here, is a welcome site. >> began salting began at the term qual early and on the roads, as well. penndot is advising drivers out here to stay slow, on the roads, take it very easy, and keep at least two cars between you and the car in front of you. we are live, in upper darby there is morning, justin finch, "eyewitness news" on the "cw philly". >> thankfully this won't be major system for us, but you know it, comes with a big headache, i think involved just because the timing so much is what it is all about right? and we have less than ideal time willing since the morning rush now currently underway. but, you know it, looks as though this is just going to be in and out and get out of here and then just leaves behind the chill.

95, around cottman see snow accumulating in the shoulder there as well, complete slow going, just string every brake lights headed southbound, towards the center city area. but we do have school bus accident out in new britain so upper state road, near county line road, with police activity on the scene there. and septa dealing with some delays, up to 20 minutes both directions on the trend ron regional rail line due to signal problems, and on the lansdale doylestown delay there up to 15 minutes inbound due to equipment problems. otherwise, the rest of the majors are really starting to be real heavy. the schuylkill expressway eastbound into the vine, 22 minutes, heavy trip oaks into 202. that will take but 19 minutes. erika, back to you. >> philadelphia police have charged the alleged triggerman in the murder of limo driver. investigators say that alone so dillguard and two others from yeadon plot today rob a driver. they randomly chose this man of the la premiere car company. he was shot yesterday during a confrontation at his car in cobbs creek. police released second person they questioned without charging him police have a reportedly identified a third man and now looking for him. the victim's fiancee saw it happen, but was not hurt. it took place the 6100 block every bayton street the dawn a after christmas, two of those men were armed. investigators say they got away with $2,300.02 sell phones cigarettes, anyone with information is asked to
