>> now many of them are off the street. police and federal agents launch several raids thursday morning going after 48 alleged members and associates of the green montgomery bgt. investigators say the gang is connected to 13 murders and 12 shootings dated back to 2005. one of those killed, carlos williams. he was targeted because he opened a drug rehab center near the place gang members sold drugs. it's a violent street that's kept neighbors indoors. >> i walk my dogs and i take my butt in the house. >> the commissioner said the raids in this neighborhood are just the beginning. >> this is where we start cutting the head off this organized group and thing them to justice. >> this sweeping indictment against bgf gang members will dismantle their organization. >> they open that's true. >> this round up and the an

anticipated convictions, if they hold stud steady, steady, it's going to be good for everybody. >> reporter: prosecutors said they only used that special statute three times before. reporting live, mike schuh, wjz eyewitness news. >> thank you. the family is said to be the sae gang that led a contraband smuggling operation at the baltimore city detention center. an over night car crash in hunt valley leaves two people dead and four others injured. it happened just after 10:00 at the intersection of york road and thornton hill road. there's no word on who or what caused the wreck. the accident remains investigation. city police made an arrest in the upper fells point murders that left two brothers dead. devon ferguson is charged with shooting and killed carl and kert berain. he shot both men in the head because he was upset that one of them had spoken to his girlfriend. it comes as the city sees its 200th murder of the year. another person has been robbed near towson university.

it's the third time in four days. police say a woman was walking on fairmont avenue when a tan nissan pulled up alongside her. two men got out and demanded her purse. her robberies follows robberies of a towson university student and goucher student. police have not said if the person is a student or not. the fda is ready to take a bold step to out law trans fats. here's is jessica kartalija to report, many local a restaurants support the move. >> years after several major u.s. cities, including baltimore, banned trans fat from restaurants the food and drug administration is joining the move against trans fats, calling them unsafe. now the agency is considering a nationwide ban on the artery-clogging oil. >> there's absolutely no redeeming quality to trans fats and every reason in the world to

get them off our shelves. >> trans fats are considered the worst kind of oil for your heart. they're tasty in muffins and cookies and allow them to last longer on shore shelves. they linked them to higher risk of heart attack. >> they increase inflammation throughout the body, which we saw as a precursor for many of these entities. >> the cooks at jimmy's restaurant made the switch 5 years ago, months before baltimore banned trans fats in restaurants. owner jimmy said some of his customers asked for the move back then. he moves the fda will make a swift move to get the ban in place. >> i have no doubt it been improved. people are health conscious and they've been linked with serious issues. >> new york was the first state

they see that their command may be bias against them, may favor the perpetrator, favor pushing it under the rug. >> senators have written a bill to take the responsibility for prosecuting serious crimes out of the hands of military commanders, giving that authority to military lawyers. 47 senators from both sides of the aisle have signed onto cosponsor the bill. others agree with military leaders who say such a change could weaken the chain of command. >> investigations will be independent. at the end of the day if we let commanders off the hook we have never solved a problem in the military without holding the commanders accountable. >> debate on the bill is scheduled to be begin later this month. at the washington navy yard, tara mergener. >> the sexual assaults does include the assaults by civilians on military personal.

condition the day you slobbered on it. >> half price for it. >> this is fas nateding stuff. cinate -- that's fascinating stuff. that brings us to dean. what's the one thing you took away from season when you were compiling and talking to people? >> well, i think i took away the title. none of it was pretty or easy. from game one to winning the super bowl they played the same way. when they looked up at the end of the game they would have more points than the opposition. i think it was something that happened the same of what happened in 1958. it was a city, the team, the fans coming together to make it happen. i think the fans had a part of it as well as the team. >> i think you made an interesting statement. keep in mind our friend stan charles wrote it forward for a lot of people, my son's generation. he's 18. the way it came down and with the way the super bowl came down it was the 58 game.
