nick: you know what i mean. i would be comfortable having the same yardage and thinking all i have to do is rotate it more rather than going to a new spot and it is another guess. >> i believe he will drop it in the semi rough. the semi rough. nick: yeah. >> i have him right around 70 yards. nick: as long as he does not jam it and lands it at the top
6:31 pm
level. >> 72 to the flag. 82 to the top of the hill. nick: yeah. all systems will be on full right now. >> that jumped. nick: that will stay up there. jim: he has to 2-putt from there to win. , we have seen this before. the number one thing to do on this putt is not to leave it short. it is a brutal read. if you leave it four feet short, it is way tougher than if you went six feet past. jim: tell people why he took the drop there in the first cut as opposed from the fairway. nick: it takes the spin off. but that is what i was kind of saying. it was a guess again.
6:32 pm
i would have gone back to exactly where i played my third shot. i know it is going to spin. i would have done something to take the spin off of it, at least knowing that it is a bigger margin of error landing it pin high to 5 or 6 yards behind the hole. i can land it anywhere there and it will stay there. now, it was, you know, he was not 100% sure how that would react. jim: david feherty, how hard of a 2-putt is it? >> right here and right now, yeah. it is hard. nick: tough. i am trying to think who has done this. we had quite a few guys at the top here who 3-putted this. you could easily get over cautious. just not hit it. >> you are right. it is a much easier putt if he

hunter mahan. >> and i don't know if that helps or hurts, nick. nick: i quite agree with you. it will raise your emotions a little bit. now he has to switch on or just get completely focused. the read is the easy bit. it is all about the speed. jim: things have gotten very quiet here at the 18th. encircled by thousands. >> definitely so. jim: one in the gallery here is his father. >> that will have to go.
6:35 pm
nick: that was the short one. jim: run it out. that won't be easy. >> we need one more gut-wrenching four-footer. nick: he saw john huh's putt right in front of him. sometimes when they place that hole location down on 18 you can't read it. it goes left and right. >> snedeker has the club back in his hands. never would have imagined that. kyle stanley's father and mother and sister, it is washington state family. he was a great junior player. he played all of those events all over the country. at that time he realized that he needed to have a winning environment down in the southeast. he chose to go from the great northwest down to clemson.
6:36 pm
john rollins will have this for birdie. nick: he moved his marker. this will give him a good boost if he sees a nice, pure. look at his caddie leaping in there. that is what it does. >> kyle immediately going back in to replace the mark. but he does not need much more than right half. >> this is the worst nightmare, this putt. nick: he has to hole this putt to win. jim: to win by one. john rollins, a third place

finish. 71 on the final round. now there is only one on the golf course in regulation. trying to close the deal with a lot more drama than we could ever have imagined. just inside of four feet. for the win. my goodness. it is go to a playoff. if you think that was quick, the whole routine that , is what he has been doing all along. nick: i am going back to the second shot in the fairway. if you can get there, you can hit it in the right-hand bunker. splash it across the green. jim: this is for an eight. three-shot lead going to a birdie hole. the 18th.
6:38 pm
we have to get the century club off the fairway. there were people ready for the presentation. it is a formality it seemed. and a triple bogey on the closing hole. that will extend this farmers insurance open. they will go back to the tee at 18. nick: it is not good. it did not look good, did it? that is a big four feet. jim: did you see anything there? nick: i think he just -- jim: waled man in disbelief, too.
6:39 pm
brandt snedeker hit this beautiful lob wedge. nick: he had the freedom. he was just being aggressive. simple as that. if i can get it close i can have a good finish. no real pressure at all. jim: led to a little tap-in birdie, matching the low round of the day. a 67. still he exitted the green trailing by three. never imagining that there would be more golf action this afternoon because this was the one that made all of the difference. the third shot. nick: i said that this is the professional handicap or the hazard for the pros on this golf course. it bites too much. they grip into the ridges and it comes back. for it to happen and be so costly is incredible. jim: only needed to get down in

three from this point from inside 100 yards to win it. nick: he has adreniline running through his fingers now. he is running hot right now. jim: and this putt, needing 2-putts for victory. it would come up 3'8" shy of the cup. the one for the win. the nervous side. the left side. how you can blame him? at that point, it completely numbed him. nick: he that's fix it really quickly and get back to the 18th tee. >> snedeker is ready to go. everybody will be retreating to the 18th tee and we the playoff coverage when we know continue in a moment.

win or lose for kyle stanley. sitting back to watching him to the finish line you never expect an 8 on the final hole. he can still win the tournament. these are the final regulation standings. mahan and huh, these are all eighth place showings at -10. singh starts the group at 9-under, tied 13th. that includes last year's winner, bubba watson. you did some history on how 18 has had drama through the years. nick: i was trying to think about it. kyle stanley, you know, you are trying to win your first tournament. you need a crash course to deal and get rid of all of that. the best word now is determination.

here is determination. he will be spinning inside. nothing will feel normal. i haven't seen him drink any water for ages. >> you draw and determine the order. >> two. >> kyle, you are leading off. gentleman, play well. >> dailey the c.e.o. of farmers. >> jim, when i was waiting to do the interview with brandt, he said no problem. my work is done for today. it will be a challenge for him. nick: he may have switched off. how quick is this? you walked off 18 with an eight. you are back on the tee. get on with it.

head. and then later on off of a birdie-birdie start. snedeker had a good go of it too. it was five. trimmed down to three. kind of stayed right around that time. brandt bogeyed 17. recovered the shot with a beautiful wedge into the 72nd. now he is in the bunker. i don't know how difficult it will be. what do you see, peter? >> he has 267, two yards farther than he had in regulation. i imagine he has a clean lie. it could be an 8-iron or something. make sure you just find the fairway. nick: probably a 70 or 80-yard shot.
6:50 pm
jim: big question is what will stanley do after ripping a big tee shot here. nick: he has 241 yards, jim. you have to go. nick: you have to go. >> you have to go. nick: yeah. >> that will be fine. nick: that is perfect. jim: oh, divot. nick: it is. that is straight in a divot. up against one. oh, my. is that a loose divot? jim: i think it is a loose divot. if not someone should be fined for leaving one like that. >> here is the thing. he has either a 1-iron or a 3-wood. the right club is somewhere in between the two. nick: you are right. 1-iron is not enough. this is too much.
6:51 pm
back of the green for safety. jim: didn't take long. nick: has he hit a high cut that looks gorgeous. nick: sit down. >> that is where you want to toss your extra sand wedge off into the distance. jim: that divot has to be totally detached from the ground. let me ask you this, nick. who has the better chance of getting down in two? assuming that divot will be tossed aside? nick: that is a tough call. i would have to say one is about landing and the spin.
6:52 pm
the other is purely about kyle's chip from the back of the green all about the speed. he just faced it with a putt. jim: brandt will be playing a similar shot. peter kostis, what does it look like on the divot? >> it is probably an inch away. it is an old divot. he will be able to move it. he will have a perfect lie. nick: snedeker has justice done it before. kyle may have a tricky lie. the landing point three or four paces in front of you. if he mis-hit its, he can leave

6:54 pm
how good is that? jim: inside of three feet. inoue he has a little bit more experience on how to control his nerves and the adreniline and the heart beat. i am sure something had to be dialed in to calm him and bring him back down to normal. jim: david feherty inspected the lie for kyle. temporary is ok in relatively short grass that is growing straight upwards. he can predict the type of contact that he is go to make. nick: he literally just has to get it over the ridge with an extra yard of pace and it will get to the hole.
6:55 pm
a slight downhill lie would help you. >> i would think he would be hard pressed to get it inside of snedeker. jim: exactly. snedeker's putt is pretty routine. >> yeah. there is not much to it at all but for the length and the situation. nick: the putt he had six or seven minutes ago it will come up short. he has to be careful he does not lean into it and jam it a touch too hard. jim: tell come back? if he holes it he wins it. it won't go all the way in but it is a superb play by stanley. nick: you have to love him.
