tied up in a garbage bag, he died later. he was charged with animal cruelty and a judge agreed to drop the case if he performed community service at the spca. >> this is a violent case, it's a disturbing case and we don't want someone like that near our animals. report the maryland spca director will deny the volunteer service out raged that the prosecutors and a judge would allow an animal abuser to work at the facility. >> if the judicial system wants rehabilitation, that's wonderful, but counseling makes more sense. you wouldn't do that if you had someone violent with children working with children. >> because of a court recorder that's in place now, he may have to ask a judge for a new

they assaulted her with a stun gun and a hammer. anyone with information, call the sheriff's office. lawmakers are ready to grill the executives from two egg companies about the changes they made since the summer's recall. 1600 people got salmonella from the tainted eggs and joel brown has more. >> reporter: the owner from an iowa company at the center of the egg recall is ready to tell congress and the public he's sorry and he was horrified to learn his eggs made thousands sick. he's been called before a house panel looking into the august recall of half a billion eggs. lawmakers want to know what changes his company has made since the out break. the fda investigation hasn't turned up a specific cause to the out break, but they found

evidence that the string was present at the plant and at wright county egg, it's a provider for the company. records show, he saved millions of dollars in fines over years for health, safety and immigration and environmental violations. after the recall, the inspectors visited the company. during those visits, they found live rodents and mice at the farms and they also found manure piled deep, it was leaking into a building's foundation and they also found maggots and flies. the head of the county will tell they made changes after the recall. and he plans to remove the chickens that haven't been vaccinated against the string of salmonella. in washington, joel brown, wjz- 13 eyewitness news.

out of the south. here's the next front moving our way. we're on the southern side of it. notice how it continues to get broken up. as this moves our way, it's the chance for a shower or a thunderstorm. and the storm prediction center put us at a risk for a severe storm. it will be a close call. we have a chance for a shower and thunderstorm. that front gets out of here and here's the next one. while it does, the temperatures will sore. then, the front comes through saturday. there's a chance for a shower with it. it gets knocked off to the south and it will bring the heat back with it. out on the water, this is meandering around. it's going to turn around to the northwest and winds are at 46 miles per hour. you have to highlight this, it could be the next organized tropical storm system. and it's matthew and we'll keep you updated on that one.
