washington.. where a man was shot and killed overnight. the victim was found near 24th and skyland place around 11:30 last night. still very few details about what happened but we know police are investigating this as a homicide. and also breaking now.. a search for a two-year-old boy in the district. he was last seen tuesday with his father, sherrod twitty in the 24-hundred block of alabama avenue, southeast. police say the boy isn't in immediate danger, but they note the father does not have custody of him. call police immediately if you see them. shocking new video out of baltimore this morning - a patient - confused and clearly in need of help - left outside in the cold by hospital staff. a man nearby saw the woman and started recording as he tried to help.. even confronting the hospital workers. ryan hughes is live in baltimore with what happened next.

spoke about the affair. the report came just hours after grietens state of the state address. right now rescue operations continuing in california after those massive mudslides devastated southern areas of the state this week. today we're learning santa barbara county officials chose not to send an emergency cell phone alert to residents' warning about the mudslides until after the destruction had begun. it's not clear how many got that alert but when they did it would of been too late. the death toll from the mudslides today stands at 17. dozens more are missing. at least 400-building were damaged or destroyed. right now - branch avenue is back open after a deadly crash in prince george's county. this is in temple hills -- just before saint barnabas road. we're told a man was killed when he pulled out to cross branch avenue - and was hit by an oncoming car. george washington middle school in alexandria - will be closed again today. the school has been shut down since tuesday... when a pipe inside burst. contractors fixed the pipe and water line... but there's still no water or

there's some relief on the horizon for drivers... who find themselves frustrated --- at the end of those i-95 express lanes. governor terry mcauliffe -- announcing that those lanes will extend ten more miles -- from fredericksburg to route 17. construction won't begin until 20-19 though -- and the lanes won't start seeing traffic until 20-22. once they're complete, express lanes will total 50 miles from fredericksburg... all the way north to the pentagon. that announcement -- one of the governor's final acts before leaving office. and last night he delivered his final state of the commonwealth address as governor. mcauliffe touted his accomplishments in the past four years... but also discussed his most difficult moment. with the governor's wife were the wives of two state troopers who died in a helicopter crash that day. as well as the mother and stepfather of heather heyer, who

the iran-iraq border. eight quakes -- all struck within an hour of each other. seven of those quakes registered at least a five magnitude. there are no immeidate reports of injuries or damage. these are believed to be aftershocks of november's quake that killed more than 500 people. an update on that mess in fort washington -- a broken water main over the weekend -- flooded basements with water, mud, and sewage. crews are now working to clear debris and strip walls. w-s-s-c says they'll compensate the owners of the eight affected homes. but as people get their first look at the damage... there are things like family heirlooms and photo albums -- that can't be replaced. wike and her family salvaged a few items... but nearly

it will also host concerts, conventions and other entertainment events. construction is slated to finish in september. today - target is looking for new team members. the company is hiring 35 employees for it's new small-format store opening in march in falls church. a job fair will be held starting at nine this morning at "the lincoln at tinner hill". that's the same development where the store will be. dozens of dogs from central virginia now have a second chance thanks to one rescue group in our area. meet the newest guests at the "homeward trails animal rescue" these four puppies and seven dogs arrived from "rockbridge county" where a hoarder had them tied up in the freezing cold. members at the rescue are now feeding the pups and working on making them a little more social. they'll soon be vaccinated,treated and looking for a forever home. the hoarder had more than 60 dogs. for more

last february. and now, chilling video of a police interrogation -- is shedding new light on that crime... and what iraheta said moments before the attack. according to court documents -- a group lured the victim to the park... because they believed she helped set up the murder of iraheta's boyfriend. iraheta faces up to life in prison. today a town hall will be held at howard university to adress the damage to buildings on campus following the recent cold weather. the start of the spring semester for undergrad and graduate students was pushed back until next tuesday due to ruptured pipes and heating issues.

at least 17 people are confirmed dead in the mudslides. family and friends are joining in the search for loved ones. one man was out all day looking for his mother. his sister and father-in-law managed to escape.. officials say most people didn't listen to evacuation orders. more than 100 houses are destroyed -- another 300 damaged. this comes just weeks after wildfires burned vegetation that might have prevented the mudslide. that same storm system is now moving across the u-s -- this is a live look at the stormwatch seven radar. winter weather alerts are in effect right now from new mexico to wisconsin for up to a foot of snow. by late tonight it'll be drenching rain here, and it could impact your commute tomorrow morning. we'll have much more from eileen coming up in abo
