victims of the deadly mudslides in montecito. hundreds of homes and businesses are damaged or destroyed, and more than a dozen people are still missing. jory rand has more from montecito, california. a deadly crash in prince george's county is under investigation this morning. this is along branch avenue in temple county is under investigation this morning.

avenue in temple hills -- just before saint barnabas road. we're told a man was killed when he pulled out to cross branch avenue - and was hit by an oncoming car. the road was briefly shut down but is now back open. in fort washington -- the clean up continues after a broken water main -- floods basements with water, mud, and sewage over the weekend. crews now working to clear debris and strip walls. w-s-s-c says they'll compensate the owners of the eight affected homes. but as residents get their first look at the damage... there are things like family heirlooms and photo albums -- that can't be replaced. wike and her family salvaged a few items... but nearly everything else was salvaged a few items... but nearly everything else was lost. w-s-s-c says crews have dealt with more than 400 water main breaks in the past month.

mogul harvey weinstein is heading for court-- divorce court. tmz reports weinstein and estranged wife georgina chapman reached a divorce settlement. the couple hashed out both a property settlement agreement and a custody arrangement for their two children. neither party filed a divorce petition, but that should be coming soon now that they have settlement. coming up-- a traffic stop turns into a running gunfight, with dozens of drivers caught in the crossfire. plus, you won't find this taco on any value meal. whats inside this dish, that makes it more expensive than a steak dinner.

ms-13 gang. venus iraheta admitted to stabbing 15-year-old damaris rivas... at a springfield park last february. and now, chilling video of a police interrogation -- is shedding new light on that crime... and what iraheta said moments before. according to court documents -- a

victim to the park... because they believed she helped set up the murder of iraheta's boyfriend. iraheta faces up to life in prison. new dash camera footage of an intense chase and firefight between a man and deputies on a utah highway this all happened last month. deputies pull over arturo gallemore-jimenez for firing his gun in public when all of a sudden he begins shooting at them. jimenez then takes off down the highway... injuring two innocent bystanders along the way. eventually one deputy catches up with him using an assault rifle to stop the vehicle. deputies arrested him and later learn of why he's on the run. no deputies were injured in the exchange.

today jimenez is facing mutliple felony charges including three counts of attempted murder. remember this scene earlier this week at a louisiana school board meeting. a teacher is forcibly removed after she questioned why the schools superintendent received a pay raise when teachers did not. well -- the video went viral. now the school board president says they're receiving death threats from as far away as australia. those threats have been reported to the f-b-i. the teacher was later released without charges. we've been talking about the nationwide increase in flu cases - well today one north carolina school is cancelling classes after more than 100-kids came down with flu-like symptoms. carmel christian school in matthews cancelled class today and tomorrow after more than 160-students were out sick yesterday. it's a first for the

hope the long weekend will allow those sick students extra time to recover. it also is a chance to make preventative measures. school officials hired contractors to sanitize every hallway, bathroom, and classroom -- in addition to wiping down every surface. experts say this flu season is the worst in years - with nearly double the amount of cases nationwide compared to last year - today, d-c mayor muriel bowser will attend a topping off ceremony for a new entertainment and sports complex in the district. the venue is being built at the st. elizabeth's east campus in southeast. it will eventually be the new home of the washington mystics and a practice facility for the wizards. it will also host concerts, conventions and other entertainment events. the arena is expected to have a 90 million dollar economic impact over the next 20 yeras. construction is slated to finish up in september.
