alison: broken pipes, freezing classrooms, parents outraged. >> abc 7 news at 11:00 starts now with breaking news. alison: a sad update in the search for a missing man. nancy: the police confirmed they have found the body of daniel dehaven.

the discovery. anna-lysa gayle has the story. anna-lysa: the police say that somebody went out for a walk when they spotted daniel dehaven 's bonnie in the woods off dorsey road near bwi airport. dehaven was last seen january 2. he suffered from dementia and was nonverbal. the police are investigating a tip he may have been picked up by a driver on route one, and the driver may have dropped him off on the 800 block of annapolis road in anne arundel county. the search expanded since the tip and residents help search for mr. dehaven. he was the brother of a retired montgomery county firefighter. at this time the police do not believe there are any suspicious factors linked to his death.

in from northwest washington, a shooting leading to a lockdown at george washington university hospital. shots werel said the fired nearby and the victim walked to the emergency room. his injuries are not life-threatening and the police are looking for the shooter tonight. operations at the hospital have returned to normal. alison: angry parents pushing back about school closures lingering from the winter blast. classes are canceled at george washington middle school and abbajay to read because of a burst pipe. nancy: and all the schools dealing with the broken pipes in the face of the freezing air. jay korff was at the meeting where the parents weren't amending answers. what are school leader saying? jay: they have a lot of work cut out for them and they need money to improve infrastructure. wrappedast hour, crews up

problem at george washington middle school. a short, go, frustrated parents gathered for the pta meeting. crews are working late into the night to repair the water break breakg -- the water pipe that forced the closure of george washington middle school. students also complained about cold classroom conditions. >> they were wearing hats and gloves in the classroom. it is appalling and something should be done. jay: a school person spokesperson said when the temperatures dipped in a few classrooms into the mid-50's, children moved to warmer parts of the building. in the systemols were closed because of heating systems that were not working so well. >> oh, my gosh come it is appalling. jay: parents question the school system's schools are brenton at about the various issues. >> we are doing everything we can to keep the systems up and running. jay:

why we are here. anna-lysa: this third-grader spoke out tuesday night and columbia heights against turf, something the department of general services has been closely examining because of concerns expressed by the community. tests failed2 turf on surface hardness. since then they have been repaired, but the parents want to look at the big picture. rubbery banned crumb fields last year, but many of the field have not been replaced. >> they have not done anything to remove the existing crumb r ubber field. they are considering hardness, and temperature, but not other effects. ana-lysa: the city hired community relations firm that is conducting a public survey that will be used to draft policy on how turfs are handled by the city. >>
