hitting those critical burn areas. >> as you can see that, there are fears of mudslides, flooding and other debris flowing off the ground that was damaged by fires. thousands of people have already been ordered to evacuate. donya baucus is on the west coast. >> reporter: in california, belongings left behind by wildfires are now drenched with rain. burned-out areas from northern to southern california being tested by the season's biggest storm so far. mandatory and voluntary evacuation notices being issued for parts of los angeles and ventura counties that were charred by wildfires. many filling up sandbags as the rain is expected to cause flooding and potential mudslides. >> my fear is it coming up and over the sidewalk into the front yard and into the front door. >> reporter: in the east, frigid temperatures making it dangerous for drivers on the road in georgia where one person was killed in a four-car crash. and in tennessee. >> boom!
