too. we are rilling hoping -- really hoping it is not destroyed in the water. that is stuff you cannot replace. is putting all customers in hotel rooms and said they will cover the full cost of replacing all items lost. a spokesperson telling me we will make things right. kimberly: just heartbreaking. we have heard from people wondering is wssc really staffed to respond to all of these troubles? kevin: the utility company told me they have been working 24/7 since wednesday with 26th emergency crews during the day shift, eight during the evening, one overnight. this is a 24-hour operation. kimberly:

now the weather related problems at howard university keeping some students from class tomorrow. the semester pushed back because the heat is out in some buildings. a water main break. tonight come a firsthand look at some of the damage with q mccray live near campus. now we are hearing that mold will be a big concern? q: one of many concerns, kim. a live look at what is going on on campus, the workers have been hard at work all day long, doing every thing possible to get things fixed as soon as possible. >> this is what it looks like on this entire floor. of the manyust one buildings at howard university shut down because of the extreme cold snap. the freeze snapped several steam pipes. massive plumes of vapor filled the campus skies and fills buildings, causing a major hazard. >>

raising the alarm about a dangerous tree in her neighborhood she said could fall at any moment. catherine brown called 7 on your side. she has lived in southeast since 1962. she said many people walk right under the tree. it is just about coming out of the ground. despite calling city officials, brown said nothing is being done. >> i need some help. i want somebody to care for these trees. if that tree falls, it will cause a whole lot of problems. somebody could get killed or hurt. i don't want that to happen. kimberly: the city said the tree is on private property and they cannot intervene. it is not clear whom the land belongs to. new details, much attention before anyone has read it, michael wolff said his book "fire and fury" was supposed to show the world what it was like inside the trump white house. >> donald trump is divided.

kimberly: now a 7 on your side consumer alert -- more than 3 million takata airbag inflator's are being added to the massive recall. we have been reporting on the fall the airbags which can explode and send shrapnel flying. at least 20 people have been killed worldwide. more than 100 people injured. so far 19 automakers every called up to 69 million inflators in 42 million vehicles. the latest recall effort started 2013 cars.10, and we have all of the makes and models on the abc 7 news app. yourclosures may affect morning commute tomorrow. one of the northbound lanes of rock creek parkway near the kennedy center will be closed from 6:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

kentucky, head of that freezing rain and snow. as the moisture moves east, the cold air will retreat, but the timing is such that we may get those coming together. the morning rush is not an issue. sunrise at 7:27, no issues. by about 11:00 am a little snow on the mountains come hagerstown north and west of town. freezing rain is a liquid that freezes on contact. through about lunchtime, a little bit around the city. even if you are above freezing, even as much as 35, because the ground has been so cold, there could still be a glaze of ice early lunchtime, especially areas that have not been treated. that will carry into about 3:00, 4:00, the freezing light rain mixture, then it tapers off. south of town not as much of a concern.

kimberly: if you work out at life time fitness, they are getting rid of cable news channels. said that members don't want to see negative or politically charged content. they have several locations in virginia and maryland. we hope they keep the local news on 24/7. golf galaxy in rockville is now closed. the store in the montrose crossing shopping center offered golf equipment, apparel, and lessons. the reason behind closure is not apparent, but the store is urging customers to visit nearby locations especially if you have gift cards.
