electronics. those like laptops that have these babies. lithium ion batteries. the f.a.a. wants a global ban on checking electronics such as laptops. the concern, lithium ion batteries in close contact with aerosol cans such as hair spray and deodorant. potentially combustible combination. >> it could explode. stephen: it comes after a various suggestions regarding electronics and air travel. >> you hear different news of what you can and can't do. there is a lot of confusion and whatnot. >> the current recommendation follows studies which indicate an overheated battery near an aerosol can could cause an explosion large enough to bring a plane down. many passengers say they already carry their laptops with them. so the ban if adopted won't

>> her father was avid runner that taught her and her siblings everything they know about the sport. he died in an accident. his passion lives on in the three kids. >> i'm excited. nervous. >> they claim to have a dozen marathons. >> he has always run them with us but to do it start to finish and earn the medal will be an incredible day for us. >> they will meet up to the mothers here to celebrate a milestone for their family and honor the man who got them here. >> some people looking o

can see d.c. police on scene. we were told by the students at mckinley tech just down the street from this. they got out of school the way it happened. the investigation. shorter at the shorter of the two brick apartments up the hill. they are looking at the dogs in that area. according to a neighborhood i talked to, she heard three shots when this happened this afternoon. we don't know the exact age of the victim but we know a teenager apparently shot in the back. who has been taken to the hospital. we don't have a condition at this time. we'll find out more as we stay on the scene. this happened in the middle of the day in the eckington neighborhood. a block or two from mckinley tech down that way to the west. reporting live in the eckington neighborhood of northeast, i'm tom roussey. abc7 news. michelle: tom, thank you. new video showing the act of heroism as th

michelle: wild moments caught on video in germany, where two wild boars went on a rampage and one even got in a bank and even bit a customer. the customer was able to put one down and the other ran off back to the countryside. jonathan: right now there is a hunt for the person who hung up a noose at a gaithersburg post office. they found the symbol inside a garage that services all of the mail trucks. tonight, the postal inspector office going through the surveillance video looking for the person responsible. michelle: family members are outraged after a nursing home billed their loved one after she died. albertina we have ga was one of the residents who died when a florida nursing hm

aftermath. despite that, the facility automatic billing took nearly $1,000 from the woman's bank account. adding insult to injury the fees were taken out on what would have been her 100th birthday. >> i hate to say that but they killed her. they still charge her. michelle: a spokesperson says since the nursing home is closed, employees didn't have access to the computers and couldn't stop the billing. she says a refund is on the way. jonathan: maryland pepco cust pers are paying more for electricity but not as much as pepco wanted. they signed off on a rate increase that will mean $4 more per month for average customer. pepco wanted close to double that. the in rate took effect today. you will see it on the next bill. michelle: touted as the next giant leap

than it takes to get a pizza delivered. brad bell has already given the green light for construction on elon musk's hyper loop. brad: governor hogan made the surprise announcement yesterday. maryland granted permits to begin digging the first ten miles of the super fast, underground hyper loop dreamed up by tesla founder elon musk. the underground vacuum tube and pod system promises to take people from d.c. to new york in 29 minutes. >> it's real. brad: maryland transportation secretary was with the governor in the tour of the initial boring site in jessup yesterday. still short on detail, the planned initial d.c. to baltimore link is a game changer and won't involve tax dollars. >> the idea that one can travel unimpeded at very high speeds, i think will offer the benefit to a lot of p

search of a new manager. dusty baker is out after two seasons in washington. his contract has not been renewed. his time in washington now finished. the nationals will now have the seventh manager in 14 seasons. the lerner family and g.m. mike rizzo clearly starting fresh for the 2018 season. now dusty baker told "usa today" earlier today, "shocked and disappointed by the nats decision. it's hard to understand." back at the centreville high school, high school football game of the week. the wildcats of centreville taking on the rivals westfield. two of the best teams in the area. centreville, starving for a win against the rival. 2014 was the last time the wildcats beat the bulldogs. centreville head coach knows this is a big game for his team.
