fire was made possible by something called a bump stock. it's a device attached to the gunman's rifle. michelle: as we come on air a big surprise. the n.r.a. wants to talk about toughening gun laws. "7 on your side"'s nathan baca is tracking it for us. nathan: the n.r.a. says the bump fire stocks should be subject to additional rellations -- regulations. this is from the leading gun rights lobby unique to call for additional government control of one time of modified weapon. it's attached to a rifle that place say stephen paddock used in vegas to allow a person to put their finger on trigger and rapid fire the fun. the stock or the rear shakes back and forth. the recoil of the gun. that increases the rate of fire simulating automatic gun. the a.t.f. says they are legal and does not prohibit the sale in any way. the white house supported looking at the law.

jonathan: we have learned that the gunman was firing rounds into aviation fuel tanks at the las vegas airport. huge tanks. conflicting reports whether they were intentional. the biggest question tonight is what motivated the attack? that remains unanswered. michelle: whatever the motive, though, in the attack, 58 innocent people lost lives. in minutes west virginia community will mourn one of the lives lost. denise burditis. and tom roussey joins us live where a vigil will begin shortly. tom: this is scheduled to start in what -- in half an hour. >> she was in las vegas and the tragedy happened on sunday. denise had gone out there for the country festival. with her husband tony. a lot of the

to here said they had planned go with her. a lot of members of the class of 1985 were going to go but it didn't work out for the rest of them. her was not hurt but de -- her husband was not hurt but she was shot and died almost immediately. we asked friends how they remember her and they will remember her this way. >> never ever entered a room without speaking to someone. she knew everybody. even if she really didn't, she knew you. she was always smiling positive. always gave a thumbs up. tom: she met her husband here at hedgesville high school. they grew up here and moved away but moved back a number of years ago.

and they were instantly worried and they found out that she had been shot and killed. a lot of folks will come out to remember her for how she lived and they say she lived in a way because that was simply unforgettable. reporting live in hedgesville, west virginia, i'm tom roussey, abc7 news. michelle: behind each victim there is a community in mourning. thank you. we will monitor all the developments from las vegas as new information comes to light on what happened. jonathan: amid the ongoing debate over gun violence, district leaders say they will not appeal a ruling on the city's concealed carry law. remember in july a federal appeals court ruled that part of the law infringed on the second amendment rights of people. that provision required the d.c. residents to show police a good reason in order to get a concealed carry permit. city leaders say they didn't think that the supreme court would rule in their favor. >> opening up the case and taking the chance that the supreme court puts us in the remainder of the concealed carry law also in jeopardy.

the city is committed to ending gun violence and will continue to prosecute illegal gun cases. attorney general jeff sessions says he is relieved or he will revive a policy first launched in 2001 that emphasizes aggressive prosecution of gun and gang crimes. under project safe neighborhoods gun crimes were sent to federal courts which impose harsher sentences. they are asking for money to trace guns quickly that are used in crimes. michelle: intense video showing the moment after a logan circle condo exploded to flames. maybe you saw this site on your own. the fire sent black smoke in the sky. everyone inside got out safely. firefighters had minor injuries. dozens of homes are damaged or even worse. >> they said it's uninhabitable at

we are hoping for the best to salvage things. michelle: fire investigators blame the fire on an electrical problem. jonathan: tonight a falls church woman accused of endangering her children by leaving them in a hot car. 26-year-old alexa faulkison left her children ages 5, 6, 7 inside her car in a parking lot while she was working inside a law office on tuesday. the temperature inside the car hit 150 dries. would be of the children pushed a hole through a taped up window to get air. a bystander immediately called police. michelle: shocking video. a teenager sucker punches a man without warning and what place blame for the attack. a burglar with culinary flair. the move that impressed the victim and what he left in the tip jar next. steve: something we haven't seen here in a long time. a few shower
