announcer: this is a stormwatch7 severe weather alert. jonathan: a severe thunderstorm watch going on right now until 9:00 tonight. nancy: it's oppressive hot. another heat advisory issue that expires around 7:00 this evening. abc7 has team coverage. stormwatch7's meteorologist steve rudin tracking the storm. jonathan: with the storm track and the mobiletrak7 keeping an eye on the road conditions as well but right now let's kick it off with steve rudin. the storms, steve, where are they and when do they hit? steve: they are moving in part of the area. we have known about this for 24 hours. the cold front advancing from the north and west is going to trigger showers and thunderstorms. they contain storms and downpours. area in pink, district, alexandria, all of southern maryland, montgomery county, loudoun and prince william county until 9:00 tonight. within the area we'll see severe thunderstorm warnings pop up over the next couple of hours or so. already right now fauquier county and a sliverer of

another 15 minutes to go. the cell is not moving fast to the east. only around 10 to 15 miles per hour. it's capable of producing gusty winds and heavy downpours. but the power of the storm, you can see how tall it is. 40,000 feet. all of this advances to the east. we will see the storms begin to ease as we move in the 8:00, 9:00 hour tonight. let's show you what the temperatures look like now. it's 92 degrees at reagan national. make it 94 degrees. the heat index values are hotter than that. that is why we have a heat advisory in effect right now until 7:00. we will continue to track the storms should any additional warnings be issued, we will jump right in and show you exactly what is going on. but for the next two or three hours if you have the outdoor activities planned keep a watchful high to the sky and keep it here on abc7. jonathan: thank you, steve. we can see rain coming down no gaithersburg area alo

yet. but again, there is severe watch in effect until 9:00 tonight. meaning there is the possibility of it. so any storms that do become severe, as steve was just saying will jump back on the air and we will update you on what is happening. it's also dangerously hot. heat advisory in effect for three more hours. hydrate and be careful. nancy: with staying on air, stay ahead of the storm with the weather app. get the updates based on your location. even the notifications when lightning is nearby. this is available on google play and the app store. jonathan: we have breaking news to tell you about from charles county where a man now is being flown to the hospital after he was trampled by a camel. this happened about an hour ago at the charles county fairgrounds in la plata. he was trampled by the camel and suffered severe injuries. we have a crew on the way

the scene. we will get you an update. nancy: it's up to the jury now. case of a caterer killed after a wedding. the county is not who did it but whether it was self-defense or not. jeff goldberg with closing arguments made a couple of hours ago. jeff? jeff: jury deliberations have been going on for a couple of hours. they asked a question of the judge. they wanted the definition of the phrase "heat of passion." they decided they would have to refer to the current jury instructions. the jurors are considering second-degree murder charges in the case of 20-year-old kempton bonds in the stabbing them of 35-year-old tyonne johns. closing arguments took place throughout the morning. first was the opportunity for the prosecution. brad sha pir -- brandon shapiro saying kempton bonds' actions with a pocket knife, "it wasn't just a quick stab. he twisted it up. it was by

he did it with malice." but the defense attorney peter green presenting a different allegement saying, "he was being -- argument saying, "he was choked out by felony force. that is self-defense." 35-year-old tyonne johns was the caterer at a wedding at eleanor lawrence park in chantilly where kempton bonds, a 20-year-old former fairfax county parks employee was managing the property. tensions were very high all night. wedding guests were expressing anger and frustration for kempton bonds for turning off the pow and turning down the music and taking down decorations in the party. the defense said he was doing his job to finish the party on time. he was attacked by the wedding guests and physically attacked by tyonne johns leading to the stabbing. prosecutors say it was murder. jurors heard 911 calls made by kempton bonds after the stabbing. they also heard recordings from kempton bonds' cell phone he took during the incident and leading up to it and the incident itself. those recordings will lik

decision when the jurors reach a verdict. we will go back inside and wait to see if they come one a verdict in the next hour. we have an update at 5:00. until then, life in fairfax, jeff goldberg, abc7 news. jonathan: thank you. the search for remains of four missing men who vanished a week ago coming to an end now. now after a full confession, two men are facing murder charges in pennsylvania as a result of this. alison starling at the "live desk" with the second arrest. there is a lot going on with the case. alison: that is right. a second arrest overnight as police hope to get more information from the people they believe killed those four young men. sean katz, 20 years old was taken into custody hours after cosmo dinardo's lawyer previously said his client confessed to involvement in the murder. now katz and dinardo both face homicide charges. crews have identified remains of all four victims.

>> dean finocchiaro, thomas meo, mark sturgis and jimi tar patrick have all been positively identified. we now have them in a safe place. so they can be returned home. alison: it appears it was an argument over drugs. dinardo had a gun and because of that he was not supposed to have the gun. we have a look at this at "abc7 news at 5:00" but for now at the "live desk," alison starling, abc7 news. jonathan: thank you. covering metro. this was the scene in arlington after a problem on the tracks that happened near the rosslyn metro station. metro says it was arcing insulators that started this. he it caused delays on the orange, blue and silver line in both directions. they had to single track the orange line from bogdanovic to -- foggy bottom and

fixed. nancy: these are incredible pictures as the ammunition in the car started exploding. two people were taken to if hospital. they are recovering from all the smoke they inhale and they are expected to be okay. what is not clear this evening is how it started. we have an update for you as soon as the information is available. in another setback for the trump administration travel ban. a federal judge in hawaii decided the ban cannot block grand parents and other relatives of people living in the u.s. legally from entering the country. two hours ago the president administration pledging to appeal directly to the supreme court. the ruling expands the list of family members that can get in the united states. jonathan: abc7 salutes a world war ii prisoner of war. 94-year-old lieutenant from college park receiving the purple heart for his action dating back to 1944. ryan hughes was at the air force memorial

ryan: a special ceremony honoring a man whose love for his country has never faded. an emotional 94-year-old john pedevillano receiving a purple heart for his courage and service during world war ii. >> i did so much for this counsels. my mom and dad were the same way. ryan: pedevillano enlisted at 19 with the u.s. air force quickly became part of the 306 bomb group, which flew missions over nazi, germany, during the war. on april 24, 1944, his plane was shot down. pedevillano was wounded and became a prisoner of war. more than 73 years later, pedevillano is being recognized and was awarded the purple heart at the air force memorial in arlington. [applause] >> we had the opportunity today to remember him and remember those like him. ryan: pedevillano now lives in college park. he was surrounded by his family and friends. part of t

greatest accomplishment is his service and marrying his late wife. >> the only honor that i feel i had the privilege of serving this country in wartime. ryan: pedevillano has a lot of love for his country and for his family. in five days he is turning 95 years old. he tells me the purple heart is the perfect birthday gift. in arlington, ryan hughes, abc7 news. nancy: 94 years old. jonathan: we wish he didn't have to wait that long but a long deserved medal. thank him for his service. a shame that some of the veterans have to wait that long to be recognized. nancy: the ceremonies are so special not only for the veterans and their family. you saw it there. jonathan: no question. nancy: congratulations. jonathan: this is the beginning of two days of demonstration against the n.r.a. the national rifle association. nancy: a march from the headquarters in fairfax downtown to the department of justice headquarters is happening right now.

steve: just want to give you a fresh update on severe thunderstorm warning now posted. it includes the district, montgomery county, loudoun, also fairfax, arlington, falls church. this is now until 5:00. this storm is moving at just around ten miles per hour. it's not very fast. head to the weather center and i will show you what is going on. reston here and we will look for all of this to move to the east. so upper northwest d.c. to the cherry dale area. you will look for the stronger tomorrows to move overhead within the next 45 minutes or so. wind gusts upward of 60 miles per hour are likely. with thunder and lightning. we will put it together and bring you a fresh update for the storms moving our way this afternoon and evening. jonathan: can you imagine if that was your house? do you kno

happened? that wasn't a demolition crew. that was a giant sinkhole that opened up swallowing the entire house. this is the second home in florida to go in the hole. nobody was hurt but this is incredible video. they estimate the size of the sinkhole now 200 feet wide, 50 feet deep. you know when you saw the wider picture there, there are more homes next to the hole. they have already been evacuated. now they can just watch. nancy: california woman pulling up to her house when she found someone running away with a box in hand. h evenidi says the person was stealing a package from her house. so she pulled up in front of the get-away car, blocking it. she got out of the car. after taking a picture of the thieves license plate, you can bet she gave them a piece of her mind. >> what are you doing? you have a nice car. i don't even understand why you are stealing things. the next thing you know the

horace: the personal positive energy. when the business recently received a phone call -- >> someone called from dominion power and said that if we didn't pay our overdue bill in 45 minutes they would cut the energy off. horace: she thought the power was going out. she knew her bill was paid and it's no longer called dominion power. it's dominion energy. >> the other red flag they tell you to go to get a money pack from c.v.s. never ever would you pay for something like this through a money pack. horace: better business bureau scam track and the local police are swamped with complaints about the scheme. some were called twice. >> they were demanding and aggressive. horace: dominion energy says it's not them. they don't call customers about bills. neither the folks fell for the scheme. they want everyone to know, though, to be

strange call from the power company. >> it did freak me out. i panicked even though i knew i paid the bill. horace: the police say if the callers are looking for money but also personal information. don't give it out over the phone. dominion says it never asks for that information over the phone. if you have any questions about a call you receive from someone claiming to be a utility company, call police. i'm horace holmes. abc7 news. steve: all right. we will set the scene now. this is looking at the live camera at national harbor looking forward the wilson bridge and oldtown alexandria. the darker clouds that you see in the background is the storm that is moving toward the district that now has part of the district under severe thunderstorm warning until 4:45. once again you see

storm that is on the way. the timing not so great for a friday afternoon rush hour commute. we'll show why this is important. 94 at reagan national airport. we have a cold front to the north and west of us dropping temperatures to the upper 60's in extreme western maryland. the atmosphere is primed. it's juicy. the feels like temperature at 107 degrees out there right now. in manassas, feels like 103. the entire area that you see shaded in pink is a severe thunderstorm watch. that extends until 9:00 tonight. but i suspect to the west of us, the extreme western maryland will cancel out well before then. this is the warned area we are talking about right now. it includes fairfax county. the southern most tip of montgomery county into the district and arlington. this is until 4:45. this storm as mentioned not moving fast. just around 10 to 15 miles per hour. but prolific lightning maker as it advances off toward the east. we

potential for the wind damage from the storms. show you what is going on closer for you right now. we have the warning that is in effect. the district of columbia. fairfax, montgomery county. now until 5:00. i stand corrected on that. it is moving off toward the east. we will slice and dice the storm to show what is going on in terms of how high the cloud tops are. anywhere between 30 and 40,000 feet at this time. we are going to see the conditions will gradually improve as we move through the evening hours. here is the forecast this evening. around 83 degrees at 7:00. same for 8:00. 9:00 we will see temperatures that will slowly fall. we will see the stronger storms continue to move east. as we move through the overnight hours. then it will improve draw matticly for the day tomorrow. the winds will be out of the northwest at 5 miles per hour. 8:00 tonight, this is good news. this is thef

hour. we are going to watch the storms that are capable of producing wind gusts of 50 to 60 miles per hour. also prolific lightning makers at this time. all of this is moving toward the east. we are going to zoom in a little bit closer for you at this hour. show you exactly what is going on. heaviest of the storm moving in the reston area. these are the advisories, the watches and the warnings out there now. no tornadic activity associated with this. we will look for -- nancy: steve is going to take a break there but you can see on the right-hand side. the traffic camera, bethesda. all the rain coming down. traffic is already starting to slow there. you can see the droplets condensed on the lens. people slow-going at this point. just remember if you are taking the roads right now evening rush hour traffic make sure you take it slow. give yourself extra time. steve, how are things looking over there? steve: now show what is going on. take this over for you. excuse my coughing going o

the doppler to get an idea of what is happening. the heaviest concentration of rain are the darker colors. this shows the progression of the storm moving. also on the screen are the times. lanham in 5:03. 4:32 at bailey's crossroads. the storm has quite a punch. you will see lightning out there, strong bursts of wind are attached to this as well. steve got a cup of water and that will help. steve: all right. i want to give you an update on the storm. this happened in the last 15, 20 minutes or so. the first set to expire at 5:15. this is about two minutes away. you are watching in the district. say the west end area of logan or dupont circle.

you have ten minutes before the storm arrives in your neighborhood. as any good news with this once it moves through we are going to look for the conditions to gradually improve. improving conditions are what we like to see. but in the meantime with the heat and the humidity we have had all day long, the heat index values are closer to 107 degrees out there. that is why the atmosphere is primed. it's so juicy right now. why we are experiencing the thunderstorms thanks to a cold front. dynamics in the atmosphere are churning and churning. that is why we are looking at the stronger storms moving overhead. mclean with strong storms. tysons corner. this is advancing east. this is toward the reagan national airport. give you perspective to where everything is moving. d.c. around 4:44. er the -- terra cotta. mount rare -- this is where the storms are

cameras to show what is going on as my voice is again beginning to fail. >> i can take over as well. i'm in the weather center tracking the storms. we have seen these move all the way from basically blue ridge to the d.c. metro. heavy rain and damaging wind gusts. strongest activity. i will zoom in to show you in the storm here. you can do velocity scope. i know. on the nerdy side but that is what we are around here in the stormwatch7 weather center. these are very strong wind gusts. they are shaded in pink here from route 7 along the 66 corridor to walker chapel. you see where that is along the border there of arlington and fairfax. around mclean area. we could see the 60-mile-per-hour wind gusts. they are moving east rapidly. around

this will move in the d.c. metro in the next ten minutes. this is a quick moving system. this is the strongest of it. it will move through the d.c. metro. time it out again. these are the updated numbers. bailey crossroad, knocking on the doorstep there at 4:32. around 4:40 in d.c. itself. 4:50 in prince george's county. this is going to continue to push east. steve you want to take over here real quick? i'm going to zoom out real quick to show the big picture. steve: we should note we have severe thunderstorm warnings out there right now snack dab in the middle of the capital beltway. that is why we have having problems with the severe thunderstorm activity. gusty wind and the heavier downpours. but this is the only warned area at this hour. that is until 5:15. these storms are moving off toward the east at 10 to 15 miles per hour. capable of producing the gusty winds, heavy

lightning. so if you are watching us in the district, this is the time you need to bring everything indoors. if you have the kids outside playing. time to bring them indoors. if you know anyone out at the pool, this is the time to get out of the pool. and to seek shelter at this hour. cloud tops with this at 40,000 feet. these are hefty storms that are moving across the area in terms of rain-makers and lightning and potential for hail. once again the severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect until 5:is a for the district, arlington, alexandria. prince george's county, casino area, gaylord resort. you are in the path of the storm moving for the next half hour to 45 minutes. freshly updated timeline. the clock says 4:34. looking at 4:37 in the district. oxon hill where the casino is located 4:45. bowie 4:50. melwood should see the strongest of the storm over your area at around

this is just thunderstorm activity. we don't expect to see any tornadic activity moving in the everything hours but once it moves through it will act as a couple of good things that will happen around here. not only are we going to see the temperatures fall but we are also going to see humidity levels begin to drop. it will become more stable. once we get it out of here it will improve through the evening hours. i wouldn't be surprised by 7:30 or 8:00, 9:00 it will look better out there. as the storms move east. timeline, 4:37. and oxon hill 4:54. 4:51 at bowie. clinton at 4:54. melwood at 4:59. at the top of the hour. the severe thunderstorm warnings are likely to extend through the evening hours and they will move toward the east. if you know anyone who is planning to leave to go to the

bridge, keep in mind. what we have here is going to advance to the east and it will significantly delay your time when you go to the beaches across the bay bridge. it will slow down dramatically. the timing coupedn't get much worse than this. busy friday afternoon around the d.m.v. on a clear day, on a nice day, the traffic is rough on a friday afternoon. now we have strong storms. the strongest of the storms are going to get out of here, as mentioned, in the next hour or so. then we will see the conditions that will gradually improve. we have outside pictures to show you. we have terms of the storm progressing across the area. reagan national airport has the strongest storms at this time. the bottom is the storm tracker. they are out and about. wisconsin and bradley to bethesda. that is also on the screen. you see the heavier rain moving in your area. it won't last terribly long. anywhere between 15 to 20 minutes or so. once this moves out of here,

things are going to get a lot better. q mccray, are you over there in falls church? what are you seeing out there at this time? q: i am in falls church right now, steve. as you can see it's raining. not just raining. it's storming really hard. the believe you see here are some of the marchers. i was out here 15 minutes ago. it was sunny and hot. now it's cooled down substantially. we were all marching and it was 100 degrees. how does the rain feel now? >> it's great. must still be 100 degrees. q: how are you dealing with the rain at this point? you are at a pit stop along the 17-mile trek.

>> they are on the road. >> did they walk? >> they are walking. there are three marchers here. there were more than 100 moments ago. some of them are in the shuttles that are out here now. there is a bus down the way. that is the latest. one last look at the rain out here. it's not letting up. steve? steve: i promise that things will improve. when you did your report earlier 20 minutes ago we could see the dark clouds building behind you. they are now over you delivering gusty winds. this is moving east. we are looking at the better conditions around the reston area. to the dulles international airport. fairfax circle you are on the back edge of another round of storm moving your way. storms are not

fairfax. that is where we are looking at the heavy rain. gusty winds. if you know anyone that is traveling the rock creek parkway for the next half hour to 45 minutes. we know the area is prone to flooding. we have a lot of rain coming down very, very quickly around the beach road area. these are the areas that are going to see the potential for flooding. as we move through the next half hour to 45 minutes. in the busy rush hour commute and the areas that are prone to localized flooding could pose a problem heading through the 6:00 hour or so as the storms advance on off toward the east. so oxon hill at just around 4:44. bowie around 4:51. clinton, maryland, 4:54. melwood, you will see the strongest of the storms over your area, right over here at just about the top of the hour. so t

are moving. they are going to advance relatively quickly over the next 20 minutes to 30 minutes or so. we'll see the atmosphere stabilize more and the temperatures will begin to fall. the humidity level and the stickiness will remain through the evening hours. if you have plans outdoors, you want to dress for comfort. we have a big concert this evening at nats park. outdoor concert venue. this storm should be out of here. it will be out of here by the time that concert starts at 8:00. you might want to hold off and go out there now. the heaviest of the rain is about to move in the central part of the district over to the anacostia area, toward reagan national airport and national harbor, old town alexandria. the briarwood area. these are all areas that are going to see the heaviest rain and the gustiest of the winds as we ve through the next 20 minutes to half an hour or so. things will begin to improve. but we have get through this

screen shaded in yellow. that means the rain is not falling as hard. but walker chapel and brookmont are the areas still looking at the heaviest rain as they advance off to the east. around 20 miles per hour. seat pleasant, silver hill, friendly. you are not seeing the rain yet but you are under the warned area as we move through the next half hour or so for that severe thunderstorm warning. the rest of the area under severe thunderstorm watch. that is until 9:00. i do suspect many of this will be discontinued as we head through the next, well, probably the next couple of hours or so. give you an update, track here for where the storms are located or where they are heading for you at this time. we will cross this out here and give you a line here. that will give us an accurate version of where the storms are moving. if you are watching in rosslyn, you are hearing thunder. the latest update, pinpoint for y

especially once we get into northern loudoun county to the panhandle of west virginia. extreme western maryland. we are looking at the severe thunderstorm warning here in the center of the screen. that is where we have the gustiest of the winds. heaviest of the downpours at this time. pretty much all of up irnorthwest d.c. and southwest d.c. that's are the areas that are looking at the heaviest rain at this time. head down 66 over toward the rosslyn area. the cherrydale area, clarendon area. these are the areas now that are looking at the heavy rain and the gusty winds. keep in mind we had a lot of fuel with the storms as we moved on through. we are going to lock for things to begin to improve. brian van de graaff is going to join me and take control of the computer here a little bit. i will step back in front of the wall. brian: outside in the lobby right now for the building here in rosslyn, everyone is waiting out front. it's j

cats and dogs outside right now. it's pouring. no one wants to make the step outside right now. so everyone out there is waiting it out. moving through quickly so that is good news. as they wait longer they have to go to the metro without getting soaked but it's intense right now. steve: brian, have you take control of the computer and give everyone an update. if you are watching us inside the capital beltway. that is where the heaviest of the storm, the most prolific part of the storm is located now. they are not standing underneath an awning, you want to find something closer indoors. there is a ton of lightning associated with the system. this is where the storm is moving and where we have the severe thunderstorm warning until 5:15.

not looking at tornadic activity but if there is damage to occur it's straight line wind damage. bethesda improving a little bit. if you are familiar with the mclean gardens area, toward the national cathedral, the highest point of the district. that is where we are looking at heavy rain at this time. a lot of thunder and lightning. but the back edge of it here now beginning to clear mclean. that is good news as we move through the next half hour to 45 minutes. lightning strikes, 23 strikes. that is quite a bit. we are looking for more on the way heading through the evening hours. the early everything hours. it will begin to improve. this right here the warned area. it includes alexandria and prince george's county and the college park and the district. southeast d.c. out west we don't have the warning. this warning here until 5:15. arlington, city of alexandria, the

prince george's county. we are looking for this to slowly improve. the atmosphere was primed this evening. or this evening. we have heat advisories and the heat index values around 100 to 107 degrees. now we have a cold front. the leading edge of the cold front advancing closer to the d.c. area. that is triggering the showers and thunderstorms, the heavy downpours and the frequent lightning and the winds. wind gusts upward of 60 miles per hour not out of the question. these are temperatures out there. behind this, look at the cooldown. dulles at 73. reagan national at 83. alfredalfred -- look at frederi. they are at 96 of degrees. once the rain arrives that will squash temperatures. the humidity levels will slice in half. we are going to look for improving conditions. right now as we show you national harbor this is the view. you can see the flags on the

there is development at in this part of arlington. that is flying off the roof of multistory building and in to rush hour travel. we have a number of people dodging against the buildings seeing it start to come down. we have seen it land outside of a post office in the middle of the median. in the last five minutes as well. people trying to use the umbrellas to no avail. the wind is getting up and underneath of that. people are drenched. here are more folks getting out ahead of it. they are soaked and they are trying to get to if edge of the street and crossed. it's come to a stand still here. this pretty nasty now. jonathan: those are the panels under construction. it's almost wrapped up. somebody couldn't tie it down in time before the wing kicked up. talk about the conditions y

one minute we had a hot, oppressive, humid day. then a dark cloud covered up everything. the rain and the wind, what wind have you been experiencing there? >> the bright and the sunny day until 45 minutes ago. we checked outside to see when is the rain going to move in? a matter of minutes. there were dramatic changes in the conditions. the force of the wind started to move in. this is lighter than earlier. but you can see from the force of the panels coming off the roof there, just across the street from us. wind whipping things up out of nowhere. gusts of winds we were starting to see and the rain following suit. nancy: you can see how dangerous it is out there. stay safe out there. we will turn things back over to steve rudin. it's incredibly dramatic. steve: it is. we knew the storms were coming. look at this, the visibility is shrinking farther as the

oxon hill area. this view is going to deteriorate dramatically moving through the next ten minutes or so as the storm moves further east. show you what is going on at this time. in terms of the satellite and the radar. the strongest of the storm is now moving over in the district. arlington and alexandria. wind gusts upward of 60 miles per hour. these wind gusts capable of producing damage. you saw the insulation flying over to downtown rosslyn. this is where we have in terms of the severe thunderstorm warning that is set to expire at 5:15. half hour to go with that system or that warning but i suspect that we are going to see additional warnings across the area as we move through the next hour or so. especially toward the melwood area and upper marlboro and queen ann. even though you aren't under the warned area at this time. this is the time to get kids indoors and make sure the pets are inside. and then your furniture, we have seen how much blowing going on around there to secure the p

the backyard furniture. bring it indoors or stack it or put it in a place that is protected. you are up next for the gusty winds and the heavy downpours with the lightning show. there is good news here. the back edge of this toward mclean area. beginning to improve. if you look on the upper corner of the screen, that is the white house. the core of the system is over downtown d.c. now we have a newly expanded severe thunderstorm warning. we knew this would arrive. this is queen ann and upper marlboro. this is until 5:45. anne arundel, calvert and prince george's county. what we have seen across the district in arlington and alexandria and part of montgomery county, this is on the way to your area over the next hour or so. as the storm, this cell here will advance toward the east. capable of producing the gusty winds as we talked about. we have seen the gusty winds.

downpours. hail out there. mclean is clearing out. reston, you have a heavier downpour over your area and nothing severe. we have two severe thunderstorm warnings. one until 5:15. the second until 5:45. one includes the district, arlington and alexandria. fairfax is clearing out so good news there. the second one includes anne arundel, calvert and prince george's county. that is until 5:45. you are now beginning to see the edge of the storm. hitting oldtown alexandria and across the wilson bridge right over here. so the casino is where we have the camera over in national harbor, in this area. that is where we are looking up at, across this area. that is why skies were so dark. we are seeing the heavy rain. the gusty winds and a lot of thunder and lightning. so areas that are shaded in red, some people don't understand but that is-iest of the -- heaviest rain. orange color is not s

green means things are improving dramatically. off toward the north and west and arlington. over toward the bradley heights. that is where you are looking at the conditions improving. the heaviest of the rain now moving across the district. crossing the prince george's district border at this time. so silver hill, college park. whitehouse heights, walker mill. on the edge of the heaviest rain. you are under a warning. until 5:45. once we get it out of here, it's not a fast-moving storm but it's 10 to 20 miles per hour. moving east. it's made quite a bit of progress. so rosslyn will see areas improve to west end and georgetown area. heaviest rain and the gusty wind. those will settle down as we move through the next hour or so. once we get this line out of here, things will improve dramatically. these storms, though, they are
