now that they've looked at the ground, we'll show you the damage first. there have been about 36 reported tornadoes from earlier in week. the damage in branson, missouri, as well. we know what is ahead of potentially ahead. here's the setup for this. the air is much milder in the country. that's not a surprise. the jet stream in the middle of the country when it should be a lot higher. the jet stream, when these two masses clash, it becomes jet fuel for the storms. cincinnati, bowling green, memphis, harrisburg is back in the line of storms. we'll be watching this all day. keep up with your local abc stations. storms have started. we expect them through the day and into the night. now to the terrifying near miss with a commuter get and a car that broke through security.

a quick-thinking air traffic roller saved the day. how is breach like this possible? jim avila has the story. >> reporter: it's a sight they have never seen. a random civilian suv on the active runway, headed straight to the landing zone with a jet on final approach. >> we have a rogue vehicle on the airport. we have to catch him. >> reporter: not an airplane. a potential terrorist in an unauthorize black jeep speeding down an active runway at fad philadelphia's international run way. all caught on tape by a pilot shooting video from the cockpit of a plane unable to take off because of the emergency on runway right. >> this was a critical situation. i've been an air traffic controller for 22 years now, this is probably one of the closest calls i have witnessed in my history. >> reporter: according to witnesses, the jeep driver plowed through a construction

gate a few yards from the runway and headed directly for the landing area. just as u.s. airways express flight 3137 was 100 feet from landing. at the last minute, ordered to abort, pull up, and fly around. >> 3137, i not a target on the runway. go around. >> roger, going around. >> reporter: a danger to other pilots as well. >> i don't trust this guy. are you okay if we pull off the runway here if he comes right at us? >> reporter: after a fuel five minutes of the runways being closed, police finally forced the driver to a stop. he had no bomb. he's charged with dui, assault, reckless endangerment. last friday in tracy, california, a bmw slammed through a fence when the driver lost control. in december last year, in

colorado, the deputies chased a chevy suburban driving back wards at high speed. few can remember an incursion that left so many in danger. >> those charged can airport security across the country will look closely at the incident. >> reporter: the driver may face federal charges. and philadelphia airport officials face questions as well. they say their fence was faa approved and they plan no changes. josh is here with more news. >> a dramatic hostage standoff yesterday unfolded on camera. thieves had taken a bank manager at gun point. you'll see the glass door of the bank shatter. the police pull the manager out. right there, crawling to safety as the robber opens fire on police. a shootout would ensue.

the suspect was hit and later taken out on a stretcher and taken to the hospital. three police officers suffered minor injuries. the bank manage anner was not hurt. in california, a skier taking advantage of the season's first significant snowfall has been killed in an avalanche. that skier and two friends triggered the slide. the disruption for president obama in a speech at a new york fund-raiser last night. touting the foreign policy record when a heckler interrupted them. >> use your leadership. >> none of this -- >> no war in iran. >> none of this -- nobody's announced war, young lady. so -- you're jumping a gun a little bit there. >> it was hard to hear but the heckler was shouting no war with iran. new denails the penn state sexual abuse case. the victims were as young as 8

framing. is this a debate about contraception? religious liberty? or a talk radio giant insulting a third year law student. for two days, rush limbaugh has eviscerated sandra fluke on the radio. >> what does it say about the college co-ed susan fluke? who guys before a congressional committee and essentially says she must be paid to have sex. what does that make her? it makes her a slut, right? it makes her a prostitute. she wants to be paid to have sex. >> reporter: fluke, a third-year law student is now a flash point in a debate. fluke had been prevented from testifying by republican congressman darryl issa at this hearing in mid february. two congresswomen walked out of the hearing after only men testified.

last week, fluke was back before congress. this time, speaking at an unofficial hearing held by democrats. >> without insurance coverage, contraception can cost a woman over $3,000 during law school. for a lot of students, who, like me, are on public interest scholarships, that's practically an entire summer's salary. >> she's having so much sex she can't afford the contraception. she wants you and me and the tax payers to pay her to have sex. what does that make us? we're the pimps. >> reporter: and again on thursday. >> we're going to have to pay for this. we want something in return, miss fluke, that would be the videos of all this sex posted online so we can see what we're getting for our money. >> reporter: overnight, fluke responded. >> i guess my reaction is the reaction of a lot of women when they have been call these names.

konnias jr. is armed and dangerous. he allegedly shot his partner in the back of the head on tuesday before disappearing with as much as $2 million the massive man hunt happened after police stumbled from the armored car. inside the vault, the body of his partner, 31-year-old michael haynes. the money, gone. >> our belief is he planned to rob the company. and if he had to kill the guard, he planned to do that. >> reporter: police reports show konnias allegedly shot haynes and within ten minutes said he ruined his life. when asked if he was having a bad day at work or did he get a girl pregnant, he replied, worse than that, and confessed the murder. surveillance video shows the truck speeding way from behind
