"good morning washington" continues right now. >> live and in hd, this is "good morning washington," on your side. >> good morning, washington. it's friday, january 13. i'm chris van cleave. >> i am cynne simpson. glad to have you along. another wild weather situation to and the workweek. rain and sleet helped to buttress fall nearly 20 degrees. they're not really dropping. lisa baden is tracking the traffic. adam caskey has the first check of the forecast that could include snowfall. >> those chances pretty much disintegrated. that energy has moved out of town with the exception of the ski resorts, the western facing slopes of the allegheny mountains. frostburg will be picking up a

little snowfall even for the next couple days. for the majority of the viewing area not anymore. those chances have dwindled. in woods, 25 degrees. 33 in fairfax, 37 in southeast d.c. temperatures will continually dropping through the morning. the wind is picking up as well. wind advisory northwest of town until 6:00 p.m., which means gusts up to 55 miles an hour. it will feel like in the teens and 20's all day despite air temperatures in the 30's. we can forecast coming up. >> the chesapeake bay bridge has wind warnings. out of town at the wilson bridge, looks good. everything good on the beltway at the american legion bridge. a little wet pavement and road spray. in springfield northbound headlights moving. crashed at the exit for the beltway is gone. i chose this camera because it is beautiful? with the american flag flying in

the foreground. traffic is good on pennsylvania avenue. >> that is pretty. thank you. prince george county investigators searching for the gunman who shot a man in landover around 10:30 last night in the 7700 block cuffed bender road. the person by ohdied at a hospital. >> the mayor vincent gray last night call the national park service asking them to pick out the occupy dc protesters. john gonzalez is tracking this in northwest washington and has the reasons behind the eviction notice of and why it will not necessarily mean the end for the movement. >> we were the first report last week that there is a woman protester who is sleeping outside her tent because it is infested with rats. mayor wants the people evicted. he says it is because of the rodent problem.

but the protesters tell us it has nothing to do with that. mayor gray has called on the national park service to take action expand remove occupy dc protesters from mcpherson square citing infestations and other health issues as key reasons. yesterday he suggested relocating the macpherson protesters to freedom plaza where a separate group has already been camping for months. both sides are on park service land. >> we did not bring the rats with us. >> vincent gray is concerned protestors are risking disease and hypothermia yet park spokesperson said the protesters' right to free speech must be protected. california representative darrell issa has also asked the park service to justify how the protesters have been allowed to camp out in the square, claiming the park service is on the making excuses. darrell issa released a statement saying the city is trying best to protect the health, welfare, and safety of

people in and around the campsite and in this situation the national park service has so far been more interested in making excuses than protecting the public." the protesters have about one month left on their permit. this encampment could grow with the occupy congress protests moving in. john gonzalez reporting. >> a fallen soldier from maryland is going to be laid to rest today. army specialist ronald wildrick will be buried at arlington national cemetery and there will be a funeral procession from woodsboro. he died last month after his truck hit an ied in afghanistan. >> the region is marking the 30 years since air florida flight 90 crashed into the potomac river. survivors and rescuers today will honor 78 people who died with a wreath-laying. it crashed into the 14th street bridge after taking off from what is now reagan national during a snowstorm. it was blamed on icing and pilot

error. an orange line train also derailed that day and three passengers died and 25 others were injured. >> metro safety is back in the spotlight after another rough week for the transit agency. >> vincent gray will join the governors of maryland and virginia in a meeting today to discuss the troubles. jummy olabanji is live in arlington with a preview. >> this meeting comes at a very important time for metro because of safety issues that have arisen in the past couple weeks especially one that happened last night that our cameras were the only ones to catch. metrobus going in reverse down 395 during rush hour. when we showed this video to many people around the area including many metro riders, people were very upset to see this and say something needs to

be done about safety. earlier this week's our radio partners at wtop got their hands on some video of metro bus drivers involved in several accidents and near accidents kidding pedestrians and other buses. this is stuff that metro has had to address throughout the week and it is going to be a topic at the meeting today with the d.c. mayor vincent gray as well as the governor of virginia and governor of maryland and general manager of metro, richard sarles. the meeting starts this afternoon at 3:00. reporters not allowed inside. the mayor will come out afterwards and discuss a little of what was discussed. we will bring you any updates afterwards. reporting live in arlington jummy olabanji, abc 7 news. >> a dispute over a ski jacket sparked a triple shooting outside martin luther king elementary school in southeast. after shots were fired, the

victim's spread out through three locations. someone opened fire when a teenager refused to give up his jacket. three were shot including two brothers. one victim remains in critical condition. >> we are learning more about a disturbance rocking the u.s. military in afghanistan. the pentagon has identified two marines in the video urinating on dead bodies. they are highly trained sniper is based in north carolina. u.s. and afghan officials and the taliban have all condemned this video. an army soldier or rather an army officer recommended that a soldier suspected of leaking classified information be court- martialed. private first class bradley manning accused of giving classified documents to wikileaks website. the recommendation heads up the military chain of command now. the temperature is falling. 27 degrees in berkeley springs

in mcpherson square. >> last night d.c. mayor vincent gray called on the national park service to kick out the protesters. john gonzalez has the reason behind the eviction notice and why it does not necessarily mean the end for the movement. >> good morning. it appears the rat problem has intensified since the protesters moved into mcpherson square in october. the mayor has called on the national park service to essentially removed all the protesters, citing rat infestation and other health issues at the tissues. he suggested relocating the protesters perhaps to freedom plaza, where a separate group has been camping out for months. both sites are owned by the park service. but the park service has said that these folks have a right to protest and have a four-month protest, so this could continue. california representative darrell issa is asking the park

buses in dangerous situation. our cameras caught a metrobus last night doing something very unsafe on the roadways. yesterday cameras caught a metro bus driving in reverse during the evening rush hour, on one of the busiest highways in the region. >> that is discouraging. >> safety is just one of several issues that will be discussed this afternoon during a closed- door meeting between d.c. mayor vincent gray, the governors of maryland and virginia, and metro general manager richard sarles. the meeting also happens to be days after wtop made public disturbing videos of metro bus drivers getting into accidents with pedestrians and one bus driver backing into another bus. >> the videos are outrageous. >> this week metro announced it is proposing a series of fare hikes to help close a looming budget gap. many riders seabees videos and
