the neighbors feel the man may have been targeted by gangs. >> i heard the sirens. all of a sudden, they came racing through here. i thought this was wrong. >> for these neighbors, the news is a complete shock. he was found dead at around 11:30 p.m. monday night. >> it is really scary. we get a lot of transient traffic walking through here. it really has me thinking. what can we do to stop this? >> we noticed police detectives still canvassing the neighborhood. police and releasing much as far as motives or suspects. >> we do not know of the man lives in the area or one of the residences there. we are trying to ascertain that. >> 11 news went door to door and

found one witness who said they found -- they called 911. the victim was attacked by a group of men with that and could be heard laughing as they walked away. the witness went on to say that the detectives said the victim was targeted because he was hispanic, most likely from a gang in the area that has targeted other hispanics in the past. we asked police and they told us that investigators were not aware of this theory and that the case remains under investigation. >> the invitation -- the information we do have will not be released at this point because of the investigation. >> police have not identified the victim as they await the results of the autopsy being done by the national investigator office. we should learn more in the coming days and whether or not this was a hate crime. wbal-tv 11 news.

>> 24-year-old gang member was given the maximum sentence for his conviction including first- degree murder in a hate crime resulting in death. he will serve life in prison without parole. before his conviction, he was a high-ranking member of the blood's gang. he ordered two other gang members to murder paris. they thought he was on the sexual and having a homosexual in the gang would make them seem weak. he was stabbed to death in 2008. his mother spoke in court today before the sentencing. >> i had to speak up for him for his justice. that was my concern. he cannot speak for himself. he is gone. i have to make sure that they were held accountable. >> two other men have already been convicted in physically murdering him. they say they will appeal. >> prosecution rests their case in the trial for the murder of a

former councilman ken harris. they dropped the premeditated murder charge today. felony murder and second-degree murder charters will stand. closing arguments could begin as soon as thursday. anne arundel county police charged a woman. 52-year-old cynthia was arrested last night after witnesses say she was involved in an argument. police were called to the scene after 1:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon to simmons line. the victim was taken to baltimore washington medical center and is expected to survive. city police are working to identify a woman found dead in the west baltimore. the woman was found after 7:00 a.m. this morning. police say she died of a stab wound. right now, police have no suspects or motives. >> the good news after this month's deadly shooting at johns hopkins hospital. officials say the physician who was wounded in the shooting has been released and is now recovering at home.

65 in the northwest suburbs. the sun is going down in a few minutes at 6:54 p.m. this front will trigger some storms. this will head to the north. it looks like in a normal weather pattern we would see clearing skies with high pressure from the west. this time, look to the south. the southern end of this fund may be quite active. there is a tropical storm trying to begin down near cuba. this could become tropical storm a cold. winds are 35 miles per hour. you can see some circulation if you watch the cloud cover. the hurricane center is keeping an eye on this area of low pressure. it has a lot of low pressure with it. if it gets more organized, that will become a cold. whether this is a full blown tropical system or not, it will be moving in this direction. it looks like this will track towards miami and become a tropical storm then make its way toward wilmington north carolina

by wednesday afternoon. and will likely continue to push more north which means the potential is there for some stronger thunderstorms during the day on thursday. the leading edge of the showers arriving tomorrow evening, so we may get into the initial band of what whether tomorrow night. the really heavy rain holds off until thursday. the potential is there for a few inches of rain or some strong storms. they will get in the threat region for some stronger severe thunderstorms and the potential to do that as we get quite saudi going into the day thursday. -- as we get quite soggy. look at what the computer model is projecting. the yellows and reds indicate two-four inches of rain or more. i in hagerstown, that is up for the quarter or 5 inches of rain along the track of the low pressure system.
