and the movement continuing to weave through the country and the newest city on the list in denver where police violently arrested protesters in the middle of the night but no matter what roadblocks to show up in their streets protesters don't seem to be backing down any time soon we'll have the latest on this growing movement fighting to clean up america's mats. and the protesters want you to read all about it but not for those corporate owned newspapers so they're pressing buttons of their own to get the truth of the movement out of this with the occupied wall street journal. what is the occupy wall street.

as the movement tries to shake things up and bring about change to the way wall street does business a new ad out is trying to paint protesters and indeed some that so is there some truth to this media blitz or is it all online. and it's not just the u.s. catching on to all occupy wall street story the movement is going global from canada to the u.k. even asia will have a report from the ground in india on those standing in solidarity with american protestors. it's friday october fourteenth five pm in washington d.c. i'm christine for watching our team and let's get to the latest in the occupy wall street movement really taking over this country patients now in dozens of cities nation. wide on this friday day twenty eight of occupy wall street here's

a look at zuccotti park in new york from this morning a sight you don't see every day thousands of people standing their ground fighting even action from the park they were told by new york mayor michael bloomberg that they'd have to leave for cleaning that they would be able to return but they wouldn't be able to bring back their tents or their tarps so protesters cleaned up the park themselves and the mayor and up letting them stay but also in new york a video that is going viral right now. this is video of a new york police officer apparently running home or in a wall street protester and we're not sure of all the details here at these pictures are certainly being seen by a whole lot of people and generating some. now on to seattle where ten people were arrested overnight police also took down tents were knocking pyar was staying but

this is back down saying those protesters in seattle will be able to stay indefinitely. i was not the case in denver colorado where the school or not the procession was in the park where they've been staying part was cleared by state and local police at three o'clock this morning everyone who understand police set up a large perimeter around the park moved in slowly and cleared everybody out in some cases dragging them by the arms even carrying them to nearby tractors to drive them away tens apparently were torn down and more than twenty people were arrested. so what is the new york times have to say about all of this well he's on the front page today you'd see that discontent simmers in a market as you've gone does the economy staggers uganda really. seems like things are problematic in this economy as well but let's go back to

denver the local news stations initially called it the end of occupy denver saying it's all over the protesters there however say that that is not the case at all i want to talk about all of this and also some of the larger implications to help me do that just a little bit ago i spoke with harrison schultz a protester and part of the occupy wall street p.r. team so i asked him about this new york times front page and what he thought about it and this is a butterfly flaps its wings in hong kong and creates a world. here in new york story i guess it could be important. in terms of the i think i think i could buy wall street's more important issue right now yeah especially as it is going on literally in the backyard of the printing presses of the new york times. i know that. you harrison you just gave it interview with fox news. how did it go for you. it was pretty much what i was

expected i mean they set a lot of traps for me and they pretended to be really polite but you know there's there's really a lot of hostility the a they ask a lot of questions that if you answer it would mean your sensually agreeing to a false promise they always ask a stupid throw away question if you answered you it would automatically assume that you have that you're agreeing with some larger promise isn't nearly a list of programming sure i believe actually. there's tricks didn't work i mean it was gone. but i guess i know you've been down there certainly in the thick of things. you know in new york on wall street in zuccotti park but i want to get your take not sure if you heard about or saw what's been going on in denver police overnight there. clear in the park but those protesters are saying in police see this as a victory i'm wondering what you think the effect of this will be if you think more efforts like this you know officers literally surrounding the part of the new ving

in slowly you think this will be happening more around the country. i hope not oh my pick the most important thing to say about that the most important statement to make about is that i honestly haven't heard any news from the under up until now up until this very interview and so i you know on behalf of occupy wall street i would very much like to thank you or network for covering us and for for beating a lot of the other networks to the story and actually educating me because this is what media is supposed to be doing absolutely certainly has been down there isn't a day one and we're now on day twenty eight so we see this as important to me about how do i know you guys had kind of a what a lot of people called a victory this morning being able to stay in zuccotti park want to know about what's planned for this weekend i understand there's a rally planned for times square is that right. yes that's that's that's correct what five pm what's on the agenda what's on the agenda what can we expect this

weekend but i don't know every weekend every saturday has been another mass spectacle of some sort ever since this began so i'm along for the ride with with all of you at this point i'll be there i'm looking forward to it but i honestly don't know what to expect certainly for those of our viewers who don't remember i believe that summer seventeenth the first day was a saturday and occupy wall street i know was one of the saturdays is when we saw those seven hundred protesters sort of if we talked to many of them they sort of corralled on to the brooklyn bridge once they got there arrested seven hundred people arrested by police we certainly saw a lot of those pepper spray incidents happen tomorrow of more of those the week before ray ray tomorrow of course the. protests like this all around the world have you been watching harrison this this global stream going on. of what you guys are doing and what's been going on i know it's there and i definitely intend to

check it out but honestly been running around like just try to take care of things here so much that i haven't really had a chance to check it out when you say take care of it what do you busy doing. i'm busy trying to say is to inform just try to stay down square as much as possible i do analytics on occupy wall street org go through as many marches as a possibly can i go every morning to try to take a headcount mansouri e-mails and talking with us and taking phone calls all day and i do whatever i can to help out the movement and certainly in addition to your jobs with the movement you are marketing analyst harrison you've assisted investment bankers in the past as part of your employer mayor you're wearing a tie right now you certainly don't look like the hippies that a lot of the other mainstream media say is what this movement is made up of want to get your take on what you see as future achievements what will you consider successes as this movement continues i'd say the movements are already

a success to get back to earlier point about being a marketing analyst involved with this movement yes this movement does bridge a lot of class boundaries and there are a lot of people down at this movement who hold down full time jobs i mean on a survey to sleep overnight which show up on a regular basis every day day after day in order to support those that are. i think the success of this warning has to do with the high turnout from the public the public support for this movement you know it's it's unclear at this point we're being you know the sort of part of the public and being a participant being a protester urns i heard that. and time magazine is sort of more than half the country is supporting occupy wall street and half the country half that is like really supporting strongly supporting this movement yeah we saw that poll yeah this is a movement if the four percent support the movement they are taking part and i think that was compared to twenty seven percent who support the tea party that

interesting. their interests than just the lies in this is. going to say this is already a success i mean this is already gone much farther than i ever personally expected to go and it's gone much further than a lot of my comrades of her expected to go and it's bigger than any of us at this point i mean the fact that this is spreading to canada and asia and other parts of the globe i mean it's incredible are i was it was is this is already a success and we do hope you keep us posted thanks again for making your way down to our new york studios harrison schultz protester and member of the p.r. team of occupy wall street quite a few small battles these protesters are fighting here one of which is the quest to get their message out certainly the mainstream media is catching on starting to devote camera crews to cover it but one of the major ways the stories and the of the protesters and their demands are getting out to the rest of the world as their newspaper the occupied at wall street journal well we wanted to take

a look at what this was all about r.t. correspondent jonathan theater churkin are put together this report on the effort and more from the big apple. every revolution has a manifesto occupy wall street does not yet but they do have as the occupied wall street journal. attracting readers from all walks of life like bees to honey the newspaper documents the story of the occupation in the words of those out on the streets calling for change in the u.s. i think it's very good i care and. i think. it's a wonderful move mean can i think paraguay cannot have their idea that it's offered by the people here is the bigger it's probably the best source the people doesn't rely on advertising like most others now in decline seventy five thousand dollars in donations were raised in a blink of an eye to start up the project the. context of the revolution but for all articles and practical information on getting involved fill its pages people

reading this on subways and parks on streets or the people who are curious who have heard there's a lot of noise being made at wall street what's this all about you need words that are in print that shock and make the reader think a volunteer group runs the paper at a secret location among them managing editor michael leavitt and a former freelance reporter for newsweek the l a times and the associated press it was essential to get something in people's hands that they could pass distribute and that sort of was attacked. visual not in body mind but a representation of what's happening at the square it isn't being told in the mainstream media the newspaper as well as the revolution were inspired by the arab spring this is for fundamentally an outgrowth of events that happened in north africa in the arab speaking world the sea of two thousand and eleven has been incredible the pieterse publisher echoes this if the mubarak regime can follow this

regime can for good brands says the occupy wall street journal has electrified americans of all ages and backgrounds. what most americans believe is not allowed on television we'll have the same commentators telling us the same issues over and over pointing fingers telling us who to hate and fear we need to provide something for the people all across the country that encourages them to the work we participate this seems to have worked for troy was once homeless a law partner here for years ago that i was really clicking pennies for a hamburger mcdonald's and i can't forget as well as for leadoff pain is going to come down to check it out it was going on so if you can just listening reading the simple but people here fifty thousand copies of the first edition were gone moving to tease for that one hundred thousand copies of the second from tens of thousands of issues to hundreds of thousands the occupied wall street journal has plans to go national in the days to come from an underground broadsheet but together in the big

apple with source of news to be spread all across the u.s. they featured archie. of course the major team effort here in creating this i spoke to someone just a little bit ago who has contributed to this in a major way donating among other things is printing press to help print the paper of the revolution earlier i spoke to our room good head of the independent newspaper he told me he chose to get in why he chose to get involved with the movement. well we felt that there need to be voices and stories coming out of the occupation itself but every day it was being represented more important misrepresented by the mainstream media and so there needed to be some sort of way to get the information out to the general public what this was really about where the stories of some of the people who are in the square and what do they want what are their ideas and we wanted it to be focused on the general public so we're producing

a high quality newspaper and so there are lots of people who are really and involved in this but the independent play a key role in terms of bringing many of them together one of the latest sort of outcries about occupy wall street in the last few days is the message according to the mainstream media the lack of message to me about how you are getting across how you hope to be getting out and what you have to say to those who say that these you know hit the protestors don't know what they want well it's simple there's no one demand because there is no one problem from the global economic crisis and the reason this is successful it is a leader of a leaderless movement it allows people to come in and express their own ideas their own opinions to have a feeling that they actually have democratic engagement so you have people coming in and saying like i don't have a job or i don't have a meaningful job or i came. into college because i can't afford it or i'm coming out of college with huge debts and with no prospects i don't have access to

health care i don't have housing my home has been foreclosed upon and all these problems the people who are down there are saying this stems from wall street and i would largely agree that the problem of how wall street is in shrines as is the center of our economy is the cause of all these problems so of course there's not going to be one and several several demands out there i want to hear i want to talk to you about certainly we are in the midst of a political season tensions are high. between political parties between ideals. we knew it would happen and it has. a different kind of messaging why that's being waged this one and put together by they're called the emergency committee for israel this is a republican group and the ad claims that the occupy wall street protests in lower manhattan is anti semitic i want you to take a look at that and then we'll talk about it sure.

the. leaders turning a blind eye to. president obama. what do you make of this well i've been down at the i could buy wall street part for three weeks straight and i have seen people i think who do. pretty much come from the right wing these are. some of the ron paul types the people who are yelling about international banking conspiracy and they all have signs and slogans coming from the right wing and sure you know there's been tens of thousands of people who

pass through this part could this this is a broad swath of humanity you can always find if you crazies i've been covering the tea party for the last two years i can go to any tea party rally and find plenty of nuts but i don't think that form the core of what the movement is about i think the tea party needs to be taken seriously just as the occupy wall street movement what is the point of this and i mean president obama and nancy pelosi basically to control them but what about this notion that people are trying to. making guys the people down there protesting to seen as a mom an unruly mob filled with hate well that this was right when fear my fear mongering they excel at it they right wing politics are a really big strong exploiting group difference and then when you intersected with this fanatical pro israel scares them then you're going to get people who are trying to push this push this message i think it will fall flat on its face because it's simply not true and here is something we did speak to a protester down there

a young jewish man i want to play out his response to this ad and these ideas. it is all very well to do it right to you and so we are here for the body but this is a very curious. you're welcome here yes that's good that's certainly true you know it's just like new york because something like over twelve percent jewish there is a very strong tradition of jewish activism and i mean the number of friends of mine who are jewish i mean it's not even worth commenting upon but there are hundreds who i know personally who are down there it's just it's not an issue it's the writers trying to fabricated as an issue certainly now touch me a little bit about i know tomorrow we are scheduled to see this potentially blow up in terms of size and strength of and around the world really my last gasp and i were just talking about how every saturday you know people who do have jobs are

coming down on saturday said this there's so much bigger we saw those arrests on the brooklyn bridge what do you expect to see this weekend and in the coming days well it's definitely growing every single day the fact that the city threatened to shut it down and then had to back off because of the q.j. . against it has only helped it grow even more and now what we're seeing is that much of the rest of the world is responding of course that wall street protests are built on what has already happened with the arab spring and in europe but now it's ricocheting back in a very positive way and you are really seeing that there is a global ninety nine percent that's not just in the u.s. and that is also really i think one of the messages that is getting out very effectively that there's one percent of the population controls all the wealth and power in the world are you and you've been there for three weeks you're playing out here in d.c. right now obviously you're planning on heading back there i know on an occupation toward going to be visiting occupations around the country in the next few weeks

seoul hong kong by jakarta then even if lama vod sells the movement in asia is growing there's a lot of support for a spear in india. there and there are a lot of similarities between the goals and the messages of the people in the united states and here in india we saw a massive anti-corruption movement here in india recently that was fronted by ana has a worth thousands of young people showed up to support his fast against the government so many of those people are said to come out to this movement as well and many people compared that corruption movement here in india to the arab spring and now people are saying it's a very it has very close ties to what's going on on occupy wall street so as i said very very close similarities there it's also important to note that despite india's

growing economy we talk about the growing middle class here it has one of the youngest workforce is in the world people here are a little bit suspicious of the multinational companies these corporations that they're talking about over in the united states specifically american companies you see that happen a lot here just recently i went to hyderabad and met with some of the malice which is actually growing movement here in india there against globalization and their mean point is that while it gets a commie might be growing the rich in india are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer and it's the foreign corporations that are really benefiting from india's young workforce and not india and that. that's a point that i think has really struck a chord with them and many people here in india and it's not just the maoists average indians have come out protesting against cook of cola for example for supposedly overusing water when there's been

a water scarcity that i've reported on in much of this country we've seen monsanto the american multinational seed company who many in this country believe has a huge monopoly on the seeds of the farmers need to grow their crops and then in addition you think about bhopal as an example call the union carbide corporation company or an american company was actually accused of killing thousands of indians in that gas tragedy back in one thousand nine hundred four so there are many many examples you look at all these huge not multinational companies including pasco that's trying to build a twelve billion dollars steel plant here in india and many villagers have been protesting that as saying that that steel plant is trying to take away their land so the occupy wall street movement is getting a lot of support here in asia and surprising support or might be actually china a new movement of leftists in china or socialist critics of the country's capital

capitalist style economic reforms are also beginning to lend support to the occupy wall street movement there even reporting that this is a quote unquote great revolution against capitalism around the world the activists have held protests in the province according to some news websites however a lot in the mainstream seem to be ignoring these these protests the spike the growing popularity since that region seems to have a lot of protests in the past and they have been in the past referred to as math incidents as opposed to mass protests but it's shaping up to be quite a weekend here in asia those protests that i mentioned in hyderabad mumbai to. cards are all fact to happen on saturday so i think people will be keeping a very close eye on what's happening in asia and there are very close links to feelings here with what's happening in new york as well now with our senior
