issuing i know you are you know what that hasn't stopped lawmakers in the golden state from addressing a very very major issue involving cows they want to make sure that any commercial that uses state money to promote state goods you know how good cheese comes from happy cows and good cheese comes from california well they say that those commercials now have to be filmed inside california it all started because those have be cowed commercials. and she is the obvious choice to become the next happy california kale to watch in. happy she was born to be a star and we had a we just. read that if you're just to me if you know what i mean when she was doing. ok sorry go ahead. i mean i mean how to make her great milk comes from happy go at the cows come from california look for dairy brands with the real california. all right so here is the drama of it during the filming of some of those commercials some of the cows who auditioned to be happy
11:31 pm
cows were from california all they were actually from new zealand and lawmakers were having none of it they quickly lined up votes for the assembly bill seven hundred seventy eight called the happy cows bill the bar's publicly funded commercials that promote california products from being filmed outside the state and the bill's author ted lew a democrat says the new law is all about keeping jobs in hollywood so the bill is now on governor arnold schwarzenegger's desk but no word yet if he's going to sign into law but you know what to all of the lawmakers who voted for this bill i understand the need to protect california jobs in this economy but shouldn't you be worried about the budget about the fact that the state is on the verge of bankruptcy not to mention people's jobs not those of cow actors sorry that may have seemed a little corny but so is the name of your happy cows bill so tonight lawmakers in california you are our tool time winners. well there's

a new study out there that's challenging the knowledge of americans when it comes to their own religions and unfortunately it shows that many self declared religious people need to go back and study up on their basic facts the study comes from the pew forum on religious and public life and it tested participants on their religious knowledge and major figures in religious history so the questions range from simple ones like identifying the bible all the way to what century the mormon religion was founded it and the answers are pretty funny and pretty obvious if you ask me out of all of the different religious groups surveyed the atheists and agnostics were the ones that got the most answers right the ones who don't regularly attend any religious service seem to know the most about religion and not just one religion they were knowledgeable on all religions mentioned in this survey and you want to know why because people that choose not to be religious usually make that choice after studying religions or religious texts and then seeing how
11:33 pm
organized religions choose to use those tax to control and exploit people whereas the religious zealots usually push their beliefs on people saying of bears are the only right beliefs and they refuse to accept the existence of any other religions all those people they're the ones that have never read a text other than their own and have never even opened their eyes to the world and those my friends are the dangerous people so take this survey seriously because it really says a lot. well it is official nine thousand five hundred copies of operation dark heart and by lieutenant colonel anthony shaffer have been destroyed by the pentagon a pentagon spokesman confirmed yesterday that military officials last week watched st martin's press hoped the books to be recycled at a cost of forty seven thousand dollars now if you need me to refresh your memory she for his book which is a memoir on being on the front lines in afghanistan afghanistan has caused a stir as the pentagon after approving manuscripts decided that it contains
11:34 pm
sensitive material and had to be banned but you know when the new york times got ahold of the original version and compared it to the redacted one well they found some of the black dog material was stuff you could easily find on wiki leaks on google so what possibly could have struck such a chord with the pentagon or earlier i caught up with retired lieutenant colonel anthony shaffer himself and i asked the author to tell me the truth what did he write it was so bad. you know i say actually question i'm still fascinated having sat in a room with do you do you have to go through the second look at the manuscript and in some instances i can understand their perspective i have said several times i don't mix i don't agree with that i have been forced to agree with it by the fact of the army reserve and a lot of it has to do i believe with information relating to things they don't like they don't want to have out and let me be clear on this when the army did its review was made i worked over eight months with them and anything they asked to have removed it was taken out automatically i had
11:35 pm
a researcher actually go out and find open source information which would help fill in the story and let me begin let me be very clear on this there are operations we didn't say one little even hint at that are ongoing that we stayed away from and keep my this is seven years ago this is seven years where we actually were conducting this focus is the tipping point so i believe despite whatever they said publicly about the content there's three things which they they just aren't happy. about and first off is the fact that. from it we backdate several embarrassing things first off that we have factual information relating to the i.s.i. the pakistani intelligence service not big on the up and up with this we talk about that as a central issue we talked about the iranians being involved in the efforts against us as early as two thousand and three again this is something it's been a disco say of the eleven that right now even you would think it right into their agenda but apparently there's their response to be there and then the last issue had to do with what is the central focus of our current strategy the collarbone we recognized in zero three that the taliban reforming we actually detail in the book
11:36 pm
. mountain viper in operation or the tenth mountain division took on the taliban force on force in the taleban learned is not a good idea to take on the us army force on force this is why they want to this insurgency method and we knew it we watched it and the focus of the book is the tipping point where we went from one into losing based on the fact we recognized at that point in time the taliban were rolling back and we need to do something to stabilize their efforts in pakistan i grew up with but how come tell me this very quickly began as the new york times to peace where they first got a copy of the original version you know if you have been sent out to reviewers write decided to compare right and the things that they pointed out in the differences seem so miniscule things like the fact that meter is the forts as the nickname was what the pentagon was upset about where the fact that your code name in afghanistan had been taken from a john wayne movie and they didn't want the source of your code name to be revealed i mean those things just seem absolutely ludicrous so is it that the times picked up on the the little stupid details that we all like to laugh about war or is that
11:37 pm
true too why look i can't say specifics because i've still got security here but i signed which let me just say this my lawyer agrees more with the times and what do you do so i think there's a pretty good chance we'll be taking legal action to show sourcing of the documents to include documents given to me by the government my broad star medal. savina praise. it was given to me during my twenty five year career as an intelligence officer and things like that the basic level one of my one of the books we use as a reference was actually done my publisher something called kill bin ladin so we're going to basically go say look you know this stuff is out and i don't want to tell it another book and other competitors book a book that came out today has a lot more information secret information in it than mine does i'm assuming you're talking about mr woodward's book the that came out yesterday but i mean you know the to you is that a symbol if you think about the fact that there are things you can find on we could p.d.i. like the fort. the fact that they want to keep that secret i mean is that just
11:38 pm
a symbol of of the bureaucracy of on a voluntary which you have you know before of the fact over these days we overclassify everything to the point where i don't know who knows what's actually important or not and who is going to get to absolutely that this was the hallmark between the army process common sense let's figure out what's already out there and the beauty process which basically said if we think it's classified classified and that i think that was a point of scott shane's article is part of his point is that you know we tend to look at things and say you know what what does this really mean what is what are we protecting by not having this out there now well i'll say this there are truly things that are out there that we've done and others have done which are talked about even today seven years later it would compromise missions were compromised people's lives we stayed with that completely the idea here yet they chose to say that this was because things were in the vote of no restraint and i was there any personal vendetta you think involved in this as well and that would want to you know suppress the information that you're right there's something called able
11:39 pm
danger which in the book we talked about back five years ago i testified on the hill about it and it had to do with d.-i wrongdoing and i think that they used my testimony trumped up three allegations against me which is the are the ironic thing these three allegations were so serious that when the army got to be looked at and said it's worth a reprimand here's a promotion lieutenant colonel so don't forget i was a major at the time of the book and i was promoted lieutenant colonel after g.i. revoked like security clearance which is either you go. i really wonder ok what i can see if most me what i can see you know fires quite a confusing in addition to everybody i want to be a same information backtrack i find anything i guess you can be happy because they have given you the best published any on the planet because the original copies are being sold on e bay for thousands of dollars i don't see either jumped up you know into the very the very top on amazon too so thank you so much for being here for having me. here we have just one more segment ahead on tonight's show my unplugged moment on obama trying to bully democrats on civil liberties and the word communist that are nasty
11:40 pm

wealthy british not to. go to the united. mark. why not. find out what's really happening to the global economy with much stronger no holds barred look at the global financial headlines tune into kinds reports on our. iraq obama is the star on the cover of the october tenth issue of rolling stone and the title reads obama fights back now you might be asking who is it that he's fighting against as
11:42 pm
a republicans fox news that professional left that's been critical of him well he did all that but there's one passage in this interview one quote from the president then might shock you because here he takes on his own base and not just those professionals that gives thinks needs to get drug tested but the voters the democrats have become apathetic and aren't expected to turn out this november for the midterm elections and barack obama says the following he says the idea the we've got a lack of enthusiasm the democratic base the people are sitting on their hands complaining is just irresponsible and he goes on and says if we want the kind of country that respects civil rights and civil liberties we'd better fight this election did you hear that if we want the kind of country that respects civil rights and civil liberties we'd better fight this election i'm sorry but isn't that why we fought in the last election isn't that why we elected u.s. president because you while on the campaign trail repeatedly criticized the
11:43 pm
previous administration dare i say that bad word the bush administration you criticized them for detaining people illegally for locking them up in guantanamo bay you decry their use of state secrets and you promised an open and transparent government you said that the bush administration's warrantless wiretapping crossed the line between protecting our national security and eroding the civil. the bodies of american citizens and what have you done well let's see you placed american citizens on an assassination list you've used at the state secrets privilege a number of times including to keep it a secret why you want to kill an american citizen without any due process and you're trying to increase the government's power to wiretap and expand its from just follow to every little service on the internet you have as collated punishments for whistleblowers not to mention started waging secret wars in dozens of countries around the world and you know that last part is kind of funny because
11:44 pm
i could have sworn that transparency was one of those two words he used a lot but let me just stop myself right now let me get to the point don't you dare blame your base who you call whiners and complainers that do nothing with sit around on their hands don't blame them for being upset with the fact that you've gone back on your word time and time again and don't think that by threatening them by saying that the other guys will be worse it's going to be much of an energizer because when it comes to civil liberties mr president you have nothing to brag about and the worst part of all this is that this rolling stone journalist let you get away with it and didn't ask a single follow up question about your so-called civil liberties record and i'm not sure who to be more disappointed with but i think i'll let you guys decide. now let's move on to the tea party they host rallies everywhere across the country spreading their message of smaller government and liberty and freedom but apparently those rallies are enough now they want to sell their ideas to children
11:45 pm
by using the most innocent means possible you know they've made a coloring book called the tea party coloring book for kids and we should be pretty alarmed at this it might look like a regular old coloring book to you right i warn you that the sunday thing but the on the front cover there's a picture of the white house no problem with that on the next page you can color in the statue of liberty and i guess that. makes sense as their platform is based on liberty and freedom but here's where it starts to get a little scary on the next page harry reid and nancy pelosi are behind bars how awful is that that's just unacceptable for little kids to enjoy political figures being locked up this must be a way for the tea party to indoctrinate children and make them support our ever increasing incarceration system finally there's even a picture of president obama with devil horns i know the party isn't a fan of his but horns and a coloring book ok with it something those last two pictures aren't really in the
11:46 pm
coloring book we kind of made them up but we just decided to help deliver those evil fantasy the tea partiers have for a minute but this is what i do find ironic about this whole story the tea party was up in arms saying that obama was trying to indoctrinate our views with his address to the nation students last year but they see no problem having a coloring book with a tea party message for kids very interesting. now in the us the word communism has had a negative stigma for decades but we're going to introduce you to community that's breaking down that stigma the idea of everyone working together as one and contributing to the greater good of their self-sufficient community correspondent reassure their takes us inside a modern day. kenan rohan dakota seem like a typical father and son working together to rebuild
11:47 pm
a barn floor. but their lives are far from ordinary they live in twin oaks a commune spread over five hundred acres in rural virginia that promotes self-sufficiency and egalitarian is in the mainstream society there is a class system and we do everything in our policies and in our culture to have a classless society so it's important that we all live here equally and thirteen year old rowan has spent his entire life right here with the hundred people who have decided to make twin oaks their home i like the people here like they're over there in the people the community has an organized labor system where residents maintain a forty two hour work day each week that's what it can be met by putting in hours caring for children. making furniture milking cows and more there's hardly any other communism in the world like global economy ism has collapsed the few communist places that are left are twenty six and
11:48 pm
cuba but in this communist society if you don't pull your weight you can be exiled back to capitalised america to fend for yourself and we have a pretty strong commitment to working and making the place work and if there is somebody who sort of consistently doesn't pull their weight we have a single sanction which is you know how to hear. what is more americans are losing their job in the real world places like twin oaks are becoming more popular. right now twenty residence halls are full and there's even a waiting list to get in with the recession this has become much more popular this type of living situation and that could be part of it over the last decade or two i think real income has been dropping and you know it's been harder for middle class people even though this community is primarily self-sufficient they do have this hammock business the money they make from the hammocks they put into a communal checkbook to pay for things like car repairs clothes and electric bills . it's here way of capitalism to their
11:49 pm
communist lifestyle i think an interesting difference between communism and capitalism is that here in our communal society is that people are happier but a little less productive and if they're in the mainstream capitalist society people are productive but i think not as happy that's exactly why keenan dakota has decided to ration. for away from mainstream america these are the things that most parents want for their kids for them to be in a so you from vironment with loving people is the things that twenty six provides building a future in their own little utopia preassure either our t. louisa county virginia. well prius here in the studio with me to tell us more on this story now this is you know it's very interesting mean clearly this isn't communism and this you know it like the way communism was an active back in the soviet union but nevertheless this is different this is not the average americans lifestyle so when these people do go out and you know i don't know communicate with
11:50 pm
other people and they tell them up their lifestyle how they treat it to be all freaked out i mean a little bit because obviously communism is kind of like a taboo idea in the united states i think and i think especially our generation and our parents' generation you know they grew up during the cold war and they have all these ideas they've been kind of brainwashed. communism equals bad and i think when it comes down to it you know it's a lot more complicated than that and these people i think they actually enjoy the fact that it's kind of taboo they like to pride themselves as people who kind of think outside of the box and aren't following mainstream america so i think they kind of enjoy the fact that it's looked down upon a little bit but they say hey you know our lives are great there are so many unemployed people out there people who can't afford housing people who can't afford food and look at us you know we're living it up we're living the american dream in a communist society who would have ever thought well that's the thing here is you know this group of individuals may be doing it to stick their nose up at society but these days because of the recession because so many people are unemployed so
11:51 pm
many people are now becoming homeless too i mean you know when you spoke with them have they had more members join are there more common springing up because people are trying to find a more self-sufficient and cheaper lifestyle and absolutely there are when i was doing research on this there a little communist societies in practically every state in the united states it was pretty unbelievable and this place twenty six actually had a waiting list all of their dormitory style kind of buildings that they all lived in were full so yeah it's definitely becoming more of an attractive option i think and you know it's interesting because you're seeing so much more discussion about communism and socialism these days when you talk about the tea party and things like that you know you see pictures of obama you know when you go to these rallies where the little hitler moustache so it's kind of interesting that it's becoming another sort of topic but i think the most ironic thing about it all is i mention in the story that you know if these people don't pull their weight if they aren't completing the forty hours of work and kind of participating in the lifestyle they can get exiled back into you know capitalist america and obviously that wasn't an
11:52 pm
option when it came to real kind of communist societies if you look in the historical context i guess you could say so it's kind of interesting because you know if you think about communism you think about a ton of government control but these people are actually trying to get away from the government and get away from means. america and create their own little communist society so it's kind of a little toy so you want to be communist but they if you can't pull yourself up by your bootstraps and do your share of them then you and getting getting kicked out you know i mean it's interesting you mention that these words now become taboo because i mean socialism communism you know you think back to history and there are perhaps bad examples of it but what it's really about and you know the reason some of these stories are coming up too is that americans looked at information regarding wealth disparities in this country and they had absolutely no idea who huge they were and then they looked at a map or a chart with sweet and their intimate quality was so much smaller smaller so over
11:53 pm
it was americans are going to point to sweden and say why can't our country be like theirs and that's exactly what these guys say they say hey we want to live in a classless society we want to raise our children like this with this kind of a gala tarion is a more everyone's equal men and women and people of all different races you know age whatever we're all equal and that's really what it comes down to a lot because i found it really interesting you know you see these polls where americans are interested in different types of lifestyles but they're just afraid of certain labels and so i thought it was pretty cool that these guys kind of looked beyond the labels and kind of tried to find a lifestyle that really fit and so they go out and say i'm a communist yeah they do i mean like i was saying you know you can only find communism in cuba and he was proud of it so i thought that was pretty cool. definitely an interesting story thanks so much for being here. are before we go it is time for our tweet of the day tea party and christian conservative senate candidate christine o'donnell well she's been caught in yet another lie on her
11:54 pm
linked in page she claims that the university of oxford is under her education label it turns out that's not the case and she actually just did a course at the university of phoenix so what with the tea party tweets to miss o'donnell we thought they'd say something like this christine you know the bible speaks out against real america. tell the truth and on top of that i'm sure the americans that do support you would probably look down to you attending a foreign university anyway for say a way that's it for tonight's show thanks for tuning in and make sure that you come back tomorrow we're going to take a look at a new case of the supreme court is taking up and surprise surprise it's about corporations rights if you thought that state secrets privilege is were reserved only for the governments well think again there are some people out there quoting defense contractors the think the corporations should have the exact same rights and abilities that's going to be tomorrow in the meantime go over get to become a fan of the a lot of facebook and follow us on twitter and if you missed any of tonight's show
