1:30 pm
the headline samas's response to a truth proposal reportedly includes a three-phase deal for. five days each to secure prisenter swaps eight into gaza reconstruction among other issues as well. the us is ready genocidal war on gaza is now in its fifth month with the un warning against attacks on in rafa where half of the gaza population is taking shelter and the three and rather the us army acknowledges missile attacks on two ships off yemon while the british frigate has of been replaced due to damage by mr. strikes.
1:31 pm
hello and welcome everybody, it's 1:30 p.m. here in the iranian capital techron, you're watching press tv's world news. our top story for this half hour, senior hamas official says, the palestinian resistance movement is trying to secure the release of as many palestinian prisoners as it can, in a possible deal with the israely regime. xazi hamad's remarks came after hamas said it had delivered its. response to a ceasefire proposal to key mediators, egypt and qatar. reuters has found the draft which shows the first 45-day stage will allow exchange of prisoners, release of some non-military israeli captives and the delivery of aid to gaza. it will also allow the reconstruction of hospitals and refugee camps in gaza and the exit of israeli ground forces from of populated areas. according to the draft, hamas has also proposed indirect talks with israel in the first. stage to end military
1:32 pm
operations, the second phase, as it shows, will allow the release of all israeli male captives and exchange for a certain number of palestinian prisoners and the complete withdrawal of israeli forces from gaza. the draft shows remains and bodies will be exchanged in the third 45-day phase. international lawyer barry grossman. is joining us now from bai, indonesia to offer us some more insight with regards to that of story. mr. grossman, welcome to the program, uh, give us your thoughts on the details that we were just reading uh for our viewers and the hamas response to uh a possible cease fire at this point, well certainly the the world is um receiving the h and people are hope. full that could lead to a ceas fire,
1:33 pm
however, we have to bear in mind that that that the occupation and a particular yahu and others in the current government have made it clear that some of the core elements of the of this cease fire, especially those that would kick in part two are non-negotiable, and so while perhaps there's some scope for the first... say that the initial 45 days or in six weeks to be implemented, even that phase, it seems based on what netanyaho and others have said, would not be accompanied by a full pullout or be it temporary by occupation forces, so there's a lot of obstacles to overcome before ween get to the second phase, which is... with achieving a more permanent
1:34 pm
solution that would allow people to live peacefully and live ordinary lives without the blockade, however we'll see what kind of feedback is forth coming from the occupation, certainly there are media reports which suggest that elements within the occupation have looked at it favor. um, but we'll see, what my concern is is that once again we have the resistance negotiating with the occupation on terms set by the occupation, which include number of positions, which by any reasonable measure should should not even be contemplated, and for example, this government has already stated. back in
1:35 pm
november that there are standing orders for mosan to go out and assassinate hamas leaders wherever in the world they're found, that was in november, that was before the event. the 7th of january, so this is this is the kind of opposition that the resistance is up against, and of course we've been in this position many times when palestinians are trying to be reasonable and achieve some kind of a compromise that would allow people to live with dignity, in peace, only to see the carpet pulled out from underneath the palestiny, proverbial palestiny. and of course none stands out better as an example of that process than the decision made after the second intepada to stop using bombs and suicide bombs and targeting groups people in israel um and to give peace a chance and that
1:36 pm
was met by success of rounds of brutal mil full military ass on gaza and the grabbing of more and more land in the west bank, so so we'll see how this plays out, um, it's a very delicate matter, because on the one hand, if the resistance gives away too much, certainly the prisoners of war which they are holding are one of the few things that my estimation keep the occupation from being even more brutal in this attack of. but anticipating that of course the release of these prisoners of wars is something that's going to happen in three phases with the initial phase being restricted to the elderly and women who are
1:37 pm
part rather civilians are part of the idf force um um through conscription rather than voluntarily joining it and so... so all we can do now is w and see what the government comes back with given that itself has apparently received the proposal with some enthusiasm and certainly the the atlantic world's media cartel seems to be taking the position that what's what hamas is looking for is perfectly reasonable. so we can only live in home quite clearly hamas is putting the people of gaza ahead of all other considerations they say is much and that's to be commended and if there's really any failure for this deal to take hold, i
1:38 pm
personally think the us has to be blamed because the us of course could make it very difficult for the occupation to refuse ' to embrace this opportunity by by withholding military support from the occupation, which should make it very difficult for them to continue carrying out this this unprecedent assault on civilians and gaza. thanks lot to mr uh grossman, very grossman internationally jo lawyer joining us from by indonesia. moving on the israeli regime continues its indiscriminate strikes across the gaza strip with hospitals and other healthcare facilities being the main targets of its attacks. the palestinian red crescent says regime's latest attacks have targeted alamal and nasa hospitals in the southern city of handiness where thousands of displaced
1:39 pm
gazents have taken shelter. it added that nearly 8,00 displaced palestinians were evacuated from the hospital following two weeks of israeli siege. hundreds of them. have been relocated to the city of rafah, which also remains the target of israeli bombings. the regime's genocidal war, which started on october the 7th, is now in its fifth month. it has killed nearly 27,600 people, mostly women and children, leaving nearly 67 others injured. the united nations has issued a stern warning against israel's plan to attack rafa, a city in southern gaza saying that it will lead to a large. loss of civilian lives, we can warn what might unfold with the ground invasion and we can make clear what the law says under international humanitarian law, indiscriminate bombing of densely populated areas may amount to war
1:40 pm
crimes, so to be clear, intensified hostilities in rafah in this situation could lead to large scale loss of civilian lives and we must do everything possible within our power to avoid. the warning comes after israel said it's reviewing plans to attack rafa claiming that the city is the last remaining ham stronghold the southern city is previously. been declared as the safe zone by the regime, an estimated number of 1.4 million displaced gazons have already taken shelter there. israel is issued several evacuation orders for residents of gaza to move to rafa since the beginning of its genocidal onslot on the besieged strip. meanwhile the world food program says more than half million people in gaz are facing catastrophic hunger conditions. it says levels of acute food insecurity in gaz are unprecedented in recent history. palestinians in the southern gaza city of rafa uh, including the displaced ones are concerned
1:41 pm
about the israeli regime's plan to attack the city. let's listen to the reaction of some gazens about the possible attacks on the area where they have taken shelter. the expansion from the north and it's about to raight rafa, so where should we go? we have no choice other than die in our hometown. it's better than going to any other places. if israeli forces enter raffa, there will be a... side because the population raffa is currently 1.5 million people, so even if a stone is thrown from above, there will be casualties. we don't know where to go, we are not even able to sleep, we are anxious for ourselves, for our children and for our houses, we have dispersed in the tents and we don't know where to go. hear that israeli forces are coming to rafa and this is a tragedy because we were displaced from. and then we came here to live in the cold inside the tents, it's not even safe to stay here, the children are
1:42 pm
scared all the time and if we want to leave rafa we don't know where to go, what will be our destiny and that of our children? i'm not going to leave, i'm staying here, where should i go? i don't know where to go, i'm staying here, we've reached a dead end, it's the final stage, so let's die here. the planned israeli ground attack in rafa and concerns over the assault was the topic of our news review program. let's take a listen to comments by our guests. joining us on this edition of the news review we have palestinian scientists andsia who's joining us from bethlehem. also we have political commentator uh scott bennet joining us from san francisco. let's start off with mr. rumsia and bethlehem sir, it's great. to have you with us, the recent uh warning that has been issued by the united nations, i want you
1:43 pm
to break that down for us, as israel is now planning to attack the city of rafa and southern gaza, those areas were designated as safe zones by the israeli regime, and about 1.4 million displaced gazens have already taken shelter there if the israelis now uh start unleashing this uh massacre and onslot on palestinians in the south with the north total. be destroyed, where do gasents have to go? well, if one examines a chronology of events in the last four months, one can see that there is pattern here, the pattern is israel tells people move from this area, area a to area b, they then they bomb them along the road, and then they bomb them in area b, and then they tell them move from area b to area c. and they repeat the process and now the last remaining place that they have
1:44 pm
accumulated in, which is rough, which has now 1.5 million of the 2.3 million palestinians are squeezed into this area, that's no more than 15 or 20% of the size of the gaza strip, there's no place else for them to go except to egypt, which israel one. the egyptians don't want, or at least verbally, they say they don't want, so we don't, we don't expect much left, so when the un issues such as tark warning that there will be much larger scale killing as a result of this, of course there is killing now happening daily, even in rafa, as this continues, there will the genocide accelerates and i think the... is also covering its bases by saying this, because there is an international court of justice
1:45 pm
going on, and they want to make sure that they are not complicit and genocide, so they have to tell it like it is. scott bennett, your thoughts on the issue as well uh, contemplating this uh um the massacre that would be unleashed, should the israelis attack the south uh southern cities in gaza like? were around 1.4 million displaced gazens are already taking shelter there talked us about uh the repercussions and the sheer massive scope of civilians that will be slaughtered yet again. "we are going to see the israelis bomb uh this area sadly, they are going to disregard every international proclamation from every global body, they have no respect for other humanity or other nations, they are going to engage in this blood thirsty murder of uh these these poor
1:46 pm
souls living there, and it will not stop until..." the world rises up by force and forces the israelis and the united states and any other back or britain or other nato, european union to cease and desist, and it is only through an international coalition, international grouping that organize economically, military, politically legally to stop this, until they do that, it is, is silly to listen to certain leaders flamboyently pontificate of the evil of israel, but yet do nothing to step in and stop it, so it has to be an international presence, and as i've said before, only an international coalition that delivers humanitarian aid into gaza is going to grow life back into that area and stop the death
1:47 pm
that israel by its nature is always trying to advance. in every society where these uh israeli ashkanazi jews have gone, they have spread nothing but death and destruction, and this is the epidemy of that. all right, thanks lot, gentlemen, political commentator scott bennet joining us from san francisco and palestinian scientist and author mazen rumsia joining us from bethlehem, with that it brings us to an end here on this edition the news review, but stick around, there's plenty more to come here on press tv. several palestinians have been injured as israely forces carry out fresh raids a number of areas across the occupied west bank. we were earlier joined by our correspondent mondy, gave us more details. the israeli forces raided genene and its refuge camp as well as
1:48 pm
the village of adyamon. a reports coming from gene refugee camp, the palestinians are saying that uh dozens of israeli military vehicles and buldozers raided the refugee camp at the city of genine and destroyed infrastructure during this milital read that unfortunately it seems that it is still uh going on and in in el yamon before dawn israeli forces have raided el yamon as the israel is always claim such military rates are aimed to conduct arrest among palestinians as the israeli forces wanted to detain palestinians accused by the israelian military as wanted for security reasons. the israeli forces had also raided tolkaren and according to palestinian paramedics, three palestinians had been wounded during this israeli military read. according to palestinian resistance groups, flashes had
1:49 pm
taken a place in both areas in gene and in tutankarem elsewhere in the occupied west bank is. forces have stormed ariha and arrested number of palestinians, the exact number of the palestinians who had been detained this morning is still unclear, but we know that israel's had detained palestinians in geminen into karam in al khalil as well as in ariha. the lebanese resistance movement as well says two of its fighters have been killed in clashes with israeli forces. near lebanon southern border, israel and hazbolah movement have been engaged in intense fighting since israel launched its onssaught on gaza early october, our correspondent in beirot. mar was earlier with us and gave us details about the latest battles. well, in addition to the overnight shelling from the israeli war planes, there
1:50 pm
was also a direct attack by a drone, an israeli drone against one of the water pumps uh... which is used in order to take water from the river of alwani in the wazani village to the surrounding towns and villages, we know that that water pump room was extremely damaged, which could probably lead to the fact that there will be shortage of water in that area. of course, this is just one part of the fact that the israels continue to target not only the military sites or civilian. sites, but also civilian infrastructure in those towns and villages. hazbullah has launched of course yesterday several very significant and qualitative operations. they targeted the hun. post which is situated and considered by the lebanese government as lebanese occupied town of hunin, it is called by the israelies, the ramim post, hazballah on one in one instance
1:51 pm
targeted soldiers, another instance they used the burkan rocket to target the barks itself, but there was a a bigger focus it seemed on the bars in the occupied laban shabal farms, there were several posts that were targeted, what lalam was targeted two times as as well, one of the times it was, they focused on the espionage devices in alam, but also the posts of sumaka and ramta were also targeted in the occupied shiba farms, hazbillah also on the of course the farms are on the eastern side the border, on the western side which is closer to the coast, they targeted the jal al alam post barracks with also where they said there were soldiers deployed at near that baracks uh they used flalak one to target that post specific. the us military has
1:52 pm
confirmed new attacks by the yemini army on ships off the arab country's western coast. us military in a statement says six ballistic missiles were fired at two ships in the red sea and the gulf of aiden. it said the attack caused minor damage to one ship but no injuries. reports say the uk is now dis the royal navy frigate to replace the vessel sustained damage by missile strike eman says it conducts missile and drone attacks on ships belonging to israel or those bound for israeli ports in response to the regime's bloodshed in the gaza strip, the spokesman for the eminy armed forces has emphasized that his country also reserves a right to self-defense in the face of the us uk aggression. yahya saday said attacks on israeli ships would continue unless the regime ends its siege of gas and stops a deadly aggression there. in response to recent us and uk air strikes against yamen, the country's armed forces have carried out
1:53 pm
naval operation targeting american and british vessels. the naval forces of the yemani army carried out two military operations in the red sea, the first targeting an american ship, a star nacia and the other targeting a british ship morning tide. both ships were targeted with appropriate naval missiles and the hits were... accurate and direct s the yemani armed forces will carry out more qualitative military operations against all hostile american and british targets and the red and arab seas, he said sana reserves the right to respond to the us uk aggression against yemen. military experts said this operation proves that the yemen army is capable of handling more than one target simultaneously. they added that the targeted vessels were carrying military equipment to israel. this is the first military operation in which we target two ships at the same time, an american and a british one, and this is to confirm our ability to deal with more than one target simultaneously, and any attempt by
1:54 pm
the enemy to camouflage its ships at sea will fail. we can identify each sheep. both ships or one of them were carrying military equipment heading to the ports of occupied palestine to support of the israeli enemy. recently, the us and uk have intensified their strikes against. yemen specifically targeting residential areas in hudaida city a failed attempt to undermine the yemani army's capabilities and hold yemen's naval operations. the yemani army has repeatedly affirmed that it will only sees its operations when israel holds its genocidal war in gaza. despite the continued attacks on yemen by the us and uk yemen's army is expanding its naval operations in the redzian gulf of aden indicating that western aggression has failed to affect the mma army's capabilities. it has. also vowed to come from western escalation with the broader operations targeting their interests in the region. reporting forpressive, the israeli
