the headlines, israel's indiscriminate strikes kill nearly 150 civilians across the gaza strip in 24 hours as the total death tool from the regime's genocide nears 27. palestine's un ambassador strongly condemns funding cuts to honora by the us and its allies as inhumane, cruel and irresponsible. also in our headlines, local city councils and various us states passed cease fire resolutions in solidarity with palestinians with washington's unequivocal support for israel.
10:31 am
hello and welcome everybody, it's 10:30 am here in the iranian capital tehran, you're watching press tv's world news. our top story for this half hour, israel's air strikes and artillery fire keep pounding the besieg gaza strip nearly four months into the regime's genocidal war. the palestinian health ministry says nearly 150 people were killed and more than 300 injured in over dozen attack. attacks across the territory in a matter of 24 hours. the attacks included aerial strikes targeting the magaribi neighborhood southeast of gaza city, which killed two palestinians in baihon in northern gaza. israel's artillery fire left three civilians dead and several others injured. in the southern city of rafa, israely forces targeted vehicle killing four civilians including a child. according to the health ministry, the total death toll has reached 26,900 mostly women and children. the ministry added that nearly all of the
10:32 am
hospitals in northern gaza are operating with minimum medical personnel due to displacement of their staff. many rights organizations have warned that israel's relentless attacks are taking the blockaded territory to a breaking point. well we're now joined by um human rights activist sarah wilkinson who's with us from jordan now to offer some more insight on uh the dire situation that palestinians are facing in the besieged gaza strip as israely incessent bombing and genocidal massacre continues miss wilkinson uh what can you uh give us uh regarding your perspective on uh the uh dire humanitarian situation that's unfolding uh honoral funds are being cut hospitals are being attacked aid is basically trickling in and uh the
10:33 am
palestinians continue to suffer. yeah, just going to pick up on one point there. thank you very much for inviting me. um, aid is trickling in, but that trickling is the word. in northern gaza, aid isn't really getting to the people up as far as as far north as that. there's about 600 thousand palestinians who are literally starving to death, so we have been a campaign to get an airdrop to um provide. uh essentials like clean water, food and uh bread and dried fruit into northern gaza, so although the whole of gaza is in a in a dire situation, northern gaza is probably as its worst at the moment. miss wilkinson, uh, if you may help us interviewers better understand one aspect of of all of this um that's going on right now in gaza, so the israelis have since day one uh stated that they were their... hamas, they
10:34 am
claim that they don't want to attack civilian infrastructure and they want to minimize the civilian casualties on paper, of course that has been wrong on so many accounts and we're seeing the the massacre and the genocide that's taking place on the ground in in gaza, but the question is why isn't aid being allowed to reach palestinians in need at this moment? i think when you've got western countries that can't even vote. a cease fire or abstain from vote, then um the aspect of humanitarian aid is just one step further away in rafa in the egyptian side there are thousands of food aid trucks that have been sitting um on the roadside for literally months that they're not being allowed into the even the uh border compound, there are some lorries that are getting in at huge prices, they're having to pay bribes to get in, most the aid inside these lorries is
10:35 am
either damaged or taken out or swapped or minimized before it goes in, the same lorry comes out goes back in with half the amount of aid, so that's the south of... gaza, so the the the situation in the south of gaza is bad enough, but if you can imagine the northern territories where the israeli tanks have already divided gaza into two, nothing is getting into these regions at all, and if palestinians try to uh reach aid that may have trickled in, uh, to use your phrase, then israely snipers and tanks are shooting and firing on them, so uh, it can be a blood bath. "supplying aid to the palestinians can cause a blood bath in itself. right, and uh, miss wilkinson, one aspect that i also want to get your um, your views on, is the uh public support that we're seeing for palestinians uh across the board and cities
10:36 am
all around the world. would you say that there's a increased level of awareness with regards to the israeli crimes that has been unprecedented uh in and..." most of of the massacres and the asymmetrical wars that the israelies have carried out against gaza. yeah, there's a huge amount, there's a huge swell of support just about in every country, the pro-palestinianism is out on the streets here in jordan, the protesting every single day, so that puts some countries to shame. i'd like to see every city across the world protest every single day in the same way that the jordanian activists are. um, but yes, there is huge swell. pro-palestinian, the huge swell to prevent the genocide and even from the icj ruling where the israelis were actually in the dock for genocide, they were they were bombing gaza on the same day, so the propaganda that you hear from the israelies that they're avoiding civilian
10:37 am
casualties, they're not firing on medical staff, they're not firing on hospitals, we can see from the footage that this is all, this is all lies, they are targeting children, they're denying... insulin, they're giving adults insulin, but saying that children can't have the insulin, so if that isn't a war against children, i don't what is, and the world does need to wake up very quickly, so the the human catastrophe that's occurring now is something that we've come to jordan to ask uh king abdullah ii to provide more aid by air to the people of northern gaza, so that's that's why we're here is to push this campaign to provide food aid and and... to drop it from the air, that's the only way that food is now going to get in to stop half million, more than half million palestinians starving to death, and how would you say this urgent humanitarian catastrophe has to change? it's obviously a commendable what you're doing with regards to air
10:38 am
dropping uh this medical aid uh and basic immunities to uh to people in gaza, but that's not going to change uh the bigger picture of the suffering of the the mass population with... is uh, in fact collective punishment that's being carried out by the israelis, what has to happen for this, at least in on the humanitarian aspect for the situation to change? look, i think you now, every single person and every single city may have to do the same as us, we've we, you have to go to your government ministers, it's no point emailing or ringing them, turn up, go, protest, continue to push for a cease fire, this campaign to drop aid in gaza is running a acent to other campaigns to create sease fire, to put pressure on governments, to stop this genocide, to go back into the courts and to get to file complaints, to continue putting pressure, there we have to stop what is massacre, it's a massive every single day,
10:39 am
and today as well, over hundred people are being killed per day, so you know people have to continue with their pressure in every city across the world, they have to take lead from jordan, 'who protest every day, it's absolutely amazing here, the the solidarity for palestine is crucial, um, you, every campaign, get involved in every campaign, but we really at the moment, even if we get a ceasefire, the people in northern gaza are still starving, a cease fire could take weeks implement, and we don't have time, we maybe have less than two weeks to get food into northern gaza, but i'm not asking people to stop their campaigning for a cease fire'. i'm not asking people to stop protesting, keep doing that, keep putting pressure, and then meantime we have to get uh the the royal air force here in jordan to make an airdrop for food, so that that's why we're here. one last question, miss wilkinson, before we leave you, let's rewind to the uh ruling by the
10:40 am
international court of justice which happened at the hague uh, it was a landmark uh ruling, and one of the uh key points of that ruling was... "the israelis should facilitate uh the uh the reaching of aid to those in need in gaza, the israelis and the israely prime minister immediately uh snubbed that uh that ruling. by the international court uh of justice and so did uh uh israeli allies and supporters, how would you describe israel's behavior uh in the face of the uh world court ruling? actually the the the ruling in the court was that they were to let in medical assistance, and there is a big difference between medical assistance and medical aid or even humanitarian aid, medical assistant could be just one medic, so we knew the israelis were against. snub it, whatever happened, even if there was an all-out charge of genocide, much as as they they did against
10:41 am
russia, and and sanctions were immediately put on russia, this, we knew the israelis would take notice, we there are law unto themselves, and fact that they were bombing on the day that they were in court is all the evidence you need, so um, yes, the the the importance of getting medical aid, i'm i'm, i'm not, i'm i'm not dising that in any way, but the importance of getting food into northern gaza is now paramount, but the icj ruling didn't make it clear enough, it it's it's very loose, i mean it is a land, it was a landmark hearing, we have genocide in a courtroom and the israelis have been charged with it, however they're not taking any notice, it it isn't binding, they've given them the permission to to decide for themselves, which is what is genocide, which israeli troops have done this, and we haven't got time for that, we we want an end the the genocide, we want immediate ceasefire, but even if we get that we still have half
10:42 am
million palestinians starving to death in the north. i want people to support the airdrop food, airdrop aid for gaza campaign to sign the petition, to keep getting the names on there, um, just just keep giving every campaign as much as b as possible, because the israelis are killing machine and they do not care about the icj ruling. thanks lot, miss wilkinson, human rights activist, sarah wilkinson joining. from jordan, the israeli genocide in the gaza strip has led to mass displacement of palestinians they've been forced to take shelter, intense and or rather severely damaged structures without basic immunities, and remain in constant fear for their lives. let's take a listen to the horrowing stories of palestinians in the jabalia refugee camp in northern gaza. we live in this destroyed building, as you can see, we live here in fear. which is not only due to the israeli forces, but also because the building could fall on us. two days ago,
10:43 am
the roof of the bathroom collapsed a man inside the building causing major head injuries and leaving him unconscious and a child was also injured, but we have other place or other choice. we try to find anything to feed our children. flour is very scarce and its price is very high. our life here is very difficult after the israeli forces stormed our neighborhood, destroyed it and arrested. this bread is uneatable, but mothers have no choice but to give it to their children. for almost seven days, my children haven't eaten bread, there is no flour. palestine, rather palestines un ambassador has severely taken task those countries at suspended fund. to the un agency for palestinian refugees riyad mansur described efforts to undermine onr as

inhumane, cruel and irresponsible. in dealing with the israeli allegations against some honorable staff, one should never lose sight these realities and of israel's stated goal for years now of dismantling honor and they... succeeded one time during the trump administration of denying funding for honor for more than three years. there is no reason to preempt the outcome of the investigation or to take measures that effectively amount to the collective punishment of 30,000 honor staff and millions of refugees, beneficiaries of honor services, undermining honoa would be inhumane, cruel and irresponsible. he made

10:48 am
that it perpetuates the conflict by aiding refugees and discouraging their resettlement. "the international medical charity doctors without borders has issued yet another warning saying that people in gaza are facing massacre, the head of the charities mission for the palestinian territories also expressed regret about msf's inability to help gazens in the current circumstances. let's take a listen, euh donc la première de toutes les demandes c'est le saisser le feu immédiat. "the first of all demands is immediate and sustained ceasefire, because right now what is happening is massacre. as i say, when i was in nasa hospital, i stayed one night there, there was an air strike 150 mes from the hospital. it killed eight people, including two children aged four and five, little boys aged four and five. there

is a whole part of the population that needs humanitarian aid and does not have access to it. so we are being prevented from bringing this humanitarian aid to this population, which is also prohibited under international law. since the start of the war, there have been systematic attacks against health facilities, and that too is unheard of at msf, which leads us to say that it is the health system as a whole which has been clearly targeted by military operations. the world health organization warns of starving death among the gaza population due to constraints on the delivery of humanitarian aid to the war average besieed strip. the risk of farming is high and increasing each day with persistent hostilities and restricted humanitarian access. the who

we know that it doesn't necessarily change anything for them on the ground but i think that this will definitely put pressure on our government um to hear the the will of its people um in one of the largest cities of america and hopefully um this will influence some of their their policy and uh we will get a permanent cease fire soon so... specefire demands have been approved from major cities like san francisco, detroit and atlanta to suburbs and small towns, which are insisting on taking a moral stand, words like apartide and ethnic cleansing, which were once heavily censored in public life are now being voted into the public record, and you would wish that people um in positions of power do things, do the right things because they are the right things, because they're the more. um thing to do, that doesn't always happen, but in chicago it's a little bit different. the united states was the only member on the united nations security council to vote

against a ceasefire, and they have paralyzed the security council on the issue of the genocide in gaza. as congressman in washington reportedly refused even engage with palestinian activists. city councils have become the primary place with political power. will discuss the issue and reflect the historic shift in public sentiment towards palestine. it really shows that when you vote for progressive politicians, progress does happen. we not only saw vote um for seizfire, but we saw vote for solidarity and community building as well. the seasfire vote is not only for the palestinian people, it's for all communities. the local resolutions are mainly symbolic, but they aren't so local. they show support to palestine. and their allies around the world, and they prove to washington that their unshakable support for israel isn't shared across the country. press tv, chicago.
