a defense but it felt like that. i felt like there was some suspense until late in the day whether or not there would be an additional witness. whether or not trump would show up. did it seem today that the case closed today, that trump's own attorneys had two plans. one for if he showed up and one for if he didn't, that they closed the way they had to because they mounted no effective defense. >> i think they never expected him to come and i think they didn't want him to come. joe tacopina today reiterated so many of the same things we saw in the opening. one of those was we don't have to mount a defense. how do you prove a negative? this never happen. he said it never happened. i'll even show you and perpetrates where he says emphatically, this never happened. therefore, we're not putting on a defense. our sole defense is by cross examining their witnesses. we can't prove that something that didn't happen didn't happen zblfl so our whole defense is that it didn't happen regardless of what evidence there is.

of the year. 15,000 people turned out this weekend to celebrate what was the first in-person pride in northampton, massachusetts, since before the pandemic. and a lot of republican-controlled states this year, planning of pride celebrations is turning out to be a legal minefield. the republican state legislators all over the country have been trice to pass antidrag laws, and antitrans legislation. much of it really broad and really vague. organizers around the country are having to censor their plans or cancel plans for pride for running afoul of the new republican drag police. nowhere is this more true than in the great state of tennessee which covered itself in glory by becoming the first state in the nation to enact a ban on drag performances a couple months ago. the ban has been blocked by a federal judge. meanwhile, what the ban has done is it has managed to create a

sort of catalyst for a lot of amazing and otherwise unexpected artistic performances in tennessee. i'll show you what i mean. on the day, for example, that tennessee's republican governor signed the drag performance ban into law, a great alt country band called the vandaleers played one of their shows in tennessee. they did the show with all the dudes in the band wearing dresses. after they made their point by performing in those dresses, they auctioned off the dresses and raised a bunch of money for organizations fighting the antidrag bill in tennessee. a few weeks later, the super star lizzo came to knoxville and brought a possie of drag performers on stage with her. she said some people suggested she cancel her shows in tennessee in response to the new antidrag law. she told the crowd that night, why would i not come to the people who need to hear this message the most? last week, the singer was joined
