>> near frankford and academy, this happened just after 4:00 a.m. police tell "eyewitness news", a man wearing a hoodie was cents with a bandana over his face points dollars a gun at the clerk, got away with only about $20. this robbery was about 8 miles from an earlier 7-eleven robbery this morning in fishtown. and, coming up, philadelphia police on the hunt for who ever tied up and robbed six temple students inside their home just blocks from campus. thanks for joining us this morning, i'm erika von tiehl. >> i'm nicole brewer in for ukee this morning, live report from the scene, in just a few minutes. first, let's check on weather and traffic with carol and jessica. carol live for us on the cbs-3 skydeck. how is it feeling, carol? >> here in a coat, i jump inside, you know, ten seconds, it is fine. if you're standing out for prolonged periods of time you will feel t we have temperatures in the 30's this morning. and we are just not used to finding temperatures in the 30's. this is the colds he is

morning we've seen yet through the philadelphia area. let's take a look, see what we have later on when i come back. it will talk about some sunshine, when does that show up on the seven day, and how about the rain showers in when did they show up on the seven dismay i'll show you that in just a bit. jessica has info on the roads. >> good morning, going outside and check out crash right here on route one. this is actually headed northbound, oxford valley road. see crews over there trying to get that cleaned up and out of the way. we cover some ongoing construction projects as well in the next couple of minutes. nicole, over to you. >> jessica, thank you. this morning, the search continues for two gunmen who tied up and robbed college students in north philadelphia. >> "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo joins us now at temple university with the latest information, jan, good morning. >> reporter: erika, nicole, good morning. now, police say this all happened at off campus housing, and investigators say a group of temple university students was tied up, and then robbed at gunpoint, a very scary night. if you take a look at the

video, you can see where this all happened around 8:30, sunday night, police responded to the 1900 block of north 18th street in north philadelphia. they say two men, with guns, enters this house and then tied up six temple university students who live here. police say they were restrained with zip ties, then robbed. the university sent out alert, notifying the entire campus community of the incident, and then asked students to be vigilant and stay away from the area. meanwhile, investigators are asking anyone with information to call police. unfortunately, there is no detailed description the suspect, only that they are two men in their two's, one of them with facial hair, and wearing a bucks county community college sweatshirt. now, medics were on scene last night but they tell news one had to be taken to the hospital. and it is still unclear this morning, how much these suspects got away with during last night's robbery. live at temple university hospital. jan carabeo, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> jan, thank you. update right now on breaking news in kensington. detectives are searching for the person who shot a man to

death along the 1800 block of east ontario street overnight. police say the 27 year old suffered a gunshot wound to the head and back. he was returned to temple hospital and pronounced dead a short time later. police described a very violent scene. >> we have projectiles, and numerous bite marks, and people's doors and window frames. >> police hope that private surveillance video in that neighborhood will lead them to the suspect. >> the second you step out the door, probably chill any your house if you didn't turn the heat on. these temperatures have dropped into the 30's, in many locations. we have that frost and freeze thing going on. the freeze warning, until 8:00 in the areas in the dark puppet and the frost advisory in the blue i shall purple area. and that also until 8:00 this morning. that is for of course plants

and the growing season. but you can just factor that out. make sure your pets are also protected against this cold that we've got this morning, and the kids who are out at the bus stop will need jackets this morning, whether they protest or not. because these temperatures are cold. thirty-three in trenton, 36 wilmington, 38 reading, 39 degrees wilmington and millville, and 33 in atlantic city, 41 out at the airport in philadelphia. but the colder temperatures are in the quakertown, doylestown, mt. holly, all of those towns. 32 degrees, right at the freezing mark. our winds are now about 3 miles an hour through philadelphia, but they're calm every place else. and it is cold where the winds are cam. future weather, well, doesn't look like we've got much to deal with today except maybe few clouds come in here about the noon hour. and few more clouds, later on, by midnight looking at some showers possible, light ones off to the west, and i think the day on tuesday, we can look at probably more in the way of clouds than less, and also chances of showers, as we

go through the day on tuesday. depending on the placement of couple of weather systems. so i think just casino of generally weather that is more gloomy than sunny over the next couple of days, as pretty much going to be it. so temperatures this afternoon, get to go 60 degrees. tomorrow, 66, today should be dry, tomorrow, chance of some showers. let's check on these roads. right now, see what jessica is finding. >> thank you, carol. good morning, everyone, still relatively early start to this morning rush. we do have an accident, so far, out on route one, oxford valley road. so this is actually headed northbound, see everybody kind of pushed on by to the left-hand side, as that is pushed over into out shoulder as they try to get that out of the way before rush really starts to pull through. we head on over to the cameras on 95, so everything moving along great here, as well, approaching the commodore barry bridge. still headed northbound, moving great, headed southbound pretty much doing the same. over to the maps now, an accident, out in ardmore. haverford road near wynnewood road. expect local detours there. over on the schuylkill

announcement this morning. company didn't say what it would be, but bloomberg reports that ibm will pay to global found race to take unprofitable chip manufacturing business off its hands l report its thirds quarter earnings today. and the motorcycle from the movie easy rider sold for $1.35 million. the captain america chopper from the 1969 movie was on the auction block saturday night in california. bidding was reported to be fierce for the bike ridden by peter fonda in the counter culture classic. the auction house did not identify the winning bidder. nicole, erika? >> wow, three and a half million dollars. >> somebody has that kind of monday. >> i sweet ride, but whew. >> thanks, wendy. time right now 5:37. and suspect still on the loose this morning after a man is savagely beaten, his body discovered near a churr. >> it happened yesterday near the intersection every post road and pennsylvania avenue in morrisville, bucks county.

"eyewitness news" reporter steve patterson tells us where the investigation stands. >> it didn't happen in the woods, oral i, or home. it happened on the street in broad daylight across from a church. murdered in suburban bucks county. >> obviously they needed something on him, badly inch caved badly. >> police chief say man in his 30's beaten to death with a object sometime sunday morning around 8:30 at the corner every post road and ohio. police recovered a screwdriver, they say, was used to stab the victim, but believed a beating is what caused death. mc clay says witness saw part of the beating in progress and called police. >> we get here very quickly. and my officers were able to apprehends two of the people. >> police say those two men are being questioned while they search for a possible third. investigators believe the victim was riding with the suspects in this white van, and this the attack was premeditated. >> this is personal. this isn't a random act. they didn't just grab this guy off the street. >> quiet neighborhood.

never have anything happen around here. >> often a cliche with neighbors near crime, the chief says shear it is justified. >> this is the only homicide this year for the year. >> now, lab work based on leg work, question the suspect, process surveillance video from the church, get a warrant for the van. >> i will be very surprised it is not just something really stupid they killed this poor guy over. >> search continues for third suspect. meanwhile chief says that van was traveling from trenton, new jersey, so it likely ends in the this community, he says, didn't start in this community. reporting from bucks county, steve patterson, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". a man is dead and police are trying to find a gunman this morning after a deadly shooting in west philadelphia. it happened over the weekends on west girard avenue near north 38th. the 33 year old victim was shot in the eye, neck, and chest. first responders returned him to the hospital where he died a short time later. police say they don't know who pulled the trigger or why. meanwhile, investigators are still trying to figure out

what sparked a weekends fire that sent six people to the hospital. this was a scene at north seventh street, west nedro avenue in philadelphia's olney neighborhood. the first call came in around 2:15 sunday morning. crews had the flames under control in about a half hour. there is cents no word yet on the condition of the victim. and still to come here on "eyewitness news" this morning, one brave man haiailed as hero after rescuing an elderly man from a fire. and it is all caught on camera. the incredible story coming up next. plus, football fans and protesters clash in st. louis. what one woman says happened to her as she was walking out of the stadium after the rams game. we'll be right back.

family and friends of thomas duncan, the first man to die of ebola in the u.s., can leave their car and tee today. have not exhibited symptoms after the 21 day ebola incubation period. breaking this morning, in kensington, one man was shot and killed along the 1800 block of east ontario street about 2:45 this morning. investigators are looking for a motive. so far police have made no arrests. right now, coming up on 5:43, we head out to the skydeck, check in with carol. good morning. >> good morning to you. yes, we have chim i temperatures this morning, not anything that we didn't expect to find.

but just unpleasant to walk out, if you remember summer wacking out out in it. shirts and shorts, today you will be finding jackets to wear. look at the temperatures in pennington, 30 degrees, dover, 38, broomall, 32 degrees, bethlehem, 34, so this is casino after shock to the system out there this morning. freeze warnings, frost advisories, continuing for another couple of hours, we've got them until 8:00 this morning to the north, it is the freeze warning, and through south jersey, many areas, the freeze warning there, as well. frost advisories in number of other locations, and temperature right now is 36 in allentown, 38 in reading, 32 in the poconos, 32 degrees, as well, not on this map but you have them in quakertown, mt. holly this morning, as women. thirty-three in trenton. forty-one down in dover at that reporting station, and it is cents a cold day. but it doesn't stay all that cold. we have temperatures that will be in the 60s, the very low 60s, today, but at least into the 60s, yesterday into the

50's. and then we could be dealing with some showers around here, on tuesday, temperatures little bit higher into the 60s, by wednesday, maybe we're at six off degrees, but will be a stretch to get there. otherwise, we're looking at 60 degrees temperatures today, sun finally showing up at 7:17 this morning. few clouds will be rolling in little later on this afternoon. and the temperatures overnight will be milder than what we're finding this morning, so this is the coldest morning, 50 degrees overnight, and then many locations cents in the 40's by tomorrow morning. otherwise we take a look at the eyewitness weather seven day forecast, notice, it is different just about every single day. we go into chunks every weather, though, tuesday, wednesday, thursday, we have shower chances, temperatures will be in the 60s or right around 60 degrees, wednesday may be cooler by the time to friday, saturday, sunday, i think the sun will return it, looks like we have a stretch of some dry weather coming up at that point which will be welcome. and it will be milder. who can fight with that? let's check on the roads right now with jessica. >> thank you, carol. i'm not fighting. i love good fall weather.

good morning, everybody, we go outside and check out accident scene here, at route one, oxford valley road. you can see that pulled over to the right hand shoulder. police activity on the scene trying to get that out of the way. still headed north bound, stoney hill road, see most of the delay, and back up, and head over to the cameras here in new jersey, 42, just at creek road. so, when we head southbound, actually moving along great. where you will see most of the volume as rush hour begins to get a little heavier later on in the morning, but still little early. everything moving along nicely headed northbound. head over to the maps, check out accident out in whitpain. so mount police and road between morris road and battleson road, expect local detours out there. the pa turnpike, ongoing construction eastbound between ft. washington and bensalem, two left lanes blocked. you can plan cord inning throw squeeze on over to the right-hand side. we check out some of the area bridges, all looking great, so far both directions, so if your honor headed into the city from the ben, betsy ross, everything looking great so far there. head on over to mass transit doing great.

septa, new jersey transit and dart all reporting fine, no reported delays. some people are just born to be heroes. this morning, some amazing video from california, a good samaritan coming to the rescue after elderly man trapped inside his burning home. >> as chris van cleve explains, some people calling what happened in fresno a miracle. >> is everybody snout. >> , no there is a man inside. >> with elderly man's life on the line dramatic cell phone video captured passerby in blue dodgers hat caring 73 year old robert carter wells out of the burning home. >> i don't know where this man came f i had never seen this man in my life. but he is the hero. he is a blessing. god sent him here to save that man. >> i would like to tell him thank you from the bottom of my heart. >> the fire started saturday morning, in the garage of this fresno duplex. this picture shows the man's daughter having escaped holding a small child. >> your dad is in there? i called 911.

>> get dad! >> before firefighters arrived several good samaritans tried to battle the blaze with a garren host. that's when we see the man in the blue hat walk calmly toward the fire. >> just really amazing how people just stepped up in this crisis with courage, and compassion, and comfort, and a lot, a lot of people were heroes there. >> the one hero everyone is talking about remains a mystery. after his daring rescue, the man in the blue hat walked away gone the way he arrived, seemingly out of no where. chris van cleve, cbs news, new york. and take a look at this, a 18 wheeler crashes into a house in new orleans famed french quarter. eyewitnesses say that the truck driver tried to make a narrow turn and then apparently the house just got in the way. no one was hurt, but the homeowner says off camera that's afraid this could happen again because there is no signs in the area warning drivers of that tight squeeze.

>> our streets are only 20 feet wide, and so this vehicle, as you can see, is in excess clearly in excess of 40 feet, cannot possibly navigate the streets of the french quarter. >> it took crews about six hours to clean up that crash. no word on how much damage was caused to that home or if the driver will face any charges. that's all i was saying, let's go ram, we won, yeah. all the sudden somebody came over and punched me in the face and i ended up on the ground. >> wow. a woman who claims she was just an innocent bystander left with a black eye. a protest turned violent between st. louis rams fans and a crowd protesting the fatal police shooting of a ferguson teenager. it happened after the rams football game there. now, police arrested two people, and two others were hurt. well, parents often make mistakes when it comes to giving their children medicine. that's according to a new stud. >> i yes. researchers at the nationwide

children's hospital, they say that tens of thousands of children are given either the wrong medicine or incorrect doses. doctors say the most common mistakes are made with painkillers and fever reduce ers. growing trends, whole new meaning to the term house calls. patients can go on line and ask for a doctor any time using cameras and the internet. some physicians cents now offer the on line consultations but not all doctors on board with the idea. about 22% of employers offer video consults, through their healthcare plans. 71 percent say they'll offer it by 2017. ♪ >> the albumn includes covers of some of the most popular female vocalists like gladys night, barbara streisand, he had a james. get there is lead sickle is her version of adele's rolling in the deep. >> that should be interesting.

bizarre rescue in southern california. police say woman was trying to break into a house and she got herself wedged in the chimney. residents heard the crying and called police. they found that woman trapped inside. fire and rescue crews had to dismantle that chimney to get her out. that wasn't enough. they also to use dish soap to slide her out. crews took her to the hospital for an evaluation, then police took her to jail. >> that is unbelievable. avoid the chimney.
