and fire fighters like those stationed here at this station at fourth and arch in olde city will be getting new protective measures that include calling screening that will alert them to any potential ebola related call and also the purchase of 400 new protective suits to add to the cities reserve supply. anyone calling a philadelphia medic june witt symptoms that could indicate ebola will now, be asked additional questions, by 911 call takers. according to this department wide memo, obtained by the cbs-3 i team, quoting the fire communications center will utilize additional call screening measures to identify patients, suspected of being infected with the ebola virus. >> they are asking patients when they call and have flu-like symptoms or any potential symptom that is based that would indicate ebola if they traveled to region in africa. >> reporter: the the president of the fire fighters union say

dispatchers will immediately alert first respond their they might be dealing withe bowl. if the communication center is going to then relay this information to the responding medic units and it will allow them to pull on the fully encapsulated suit prior to entering any premises. >> reporter: he explains all philadelphia medic and fire apparatus have carried protective gear since anthrax attacks in the wake of 9/11 but because the suits, like these seen in dallas recently, can only be worn once, the city is now increasing, it reserve supply. >> with the city has done is ordered 400 more suits to my understanding which will, give them an inventory of suits in the event that this does start to pick up, in philadelphia. >> reporter: fire department officials did not respond to our request for comment or additional details. fire union president says he expects the the next step may well be refresher training for all fire fighters and medics

temperatures today, pretty amazing, georgetown, delaware 82. philadelphia, allentown, trenton, 79 degrees. wilmington made it to 79. right now fill mainly in the 07's with the exception of the poconos, and more warmth is to come, average high is only 67 degrees for this time of the year. so temperatures riding at least 10 degrees above normal. on storm scan three we have clouds and showers and sprinkles to the west but part of the much larger system that is moving through the the in midwest and deep south and all of this is moving toward the north east. now the main threats with these particular storms are going to be heavy downpours, some lightening and also some wind. this is tomorrow afternoon through thursday morning and hail and tornadoes are just a low threat at this point and that is got news. coming up we will talk about the mild and muggy weather, warm for now, storm time line is coming up later in the broadcast along with the major weekend cool down this time it could be here to stay.

"eyewitness news" reporter noel mcclaren today talk with the victim's heart broken family. >> she didn't deserve this at all. she was a great mom, great grandmother. everyone loved her. great friend. >> reporter: forty-four year-old blackwood grandmother lisa demayo leaves all of this behind a grieving family of four, a baby granddaughter, and classmates just celebrated their 25th high school reunion all gathered in her memory. >> i just want her to know that i miss her. >> reporter: each one trying to comprehend how someone so adored was abandoned by the driver police believe caused the crash that killed her. demayo just drop off her daughter and granddaughter home in bensalem after a

weekend together at hershey park. troopers say she got on i-95 south when a driver in an unidentified black sedan cut her off causing her to lose control of her jeep and slam in the guardrail. she died shortly afterward after she was taken to the hospital. >> i really wish he or she would come forward because it will be closure for my mother because she didn't deserve that. we love her. it is in the fair just to go off like that. >> reporter: now police are trying to identify the driver of that black sedan, that never stopped. demayo's family hopes he or she will come forward to bring them closure. >> i would hope that they would start to feel a conscious and do what is right. >> reporter: again, state police describe the vehicle they are looking to identify as late 90's, early 2,000 black sedan and if you have any information, that could

help them find it, they ask that you contact them immediately n bensalem, noel mcclaren for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". police are searching for suspects in the north philadelphia double shooting that left one man dead and wounded a woman. the 24 year-old victim was shot more than 30 times and died at the hospital. would the man was an innocent bystander, she is stable tonight after being hit by a single bullet. police say two suspects fired dozens of shots from point blank range. >> like an execution style murder. what he was shot several times. he went to the ground. from a witness they stood overtop of him and shot him. he was shot 35 times. it was an execution style murder. we need to get these guys identified and off the streets. >> witnesses say two men ran from the scene jumped in the car and then sped away, there is no word on a motive. police are looking for video from nearby cameras. camden, new jersey is getting serious now about getting rid of vacant houses in the city. today officials began taking

bids for a project to demolish nearly 600 abandon structures. first to go would be three properties in crammer hill and 61 in whitman park. authorities say that gangs used these abandoned plots to hide drugs, guns and commit violence. philadelphia meantime breaks ground on a new waterfront pedestrian and bike trail, this is the baxter trail at linden avenue and million inner street in the northeast. it will connect the penny pack trail to pleasant hill park. there will be a pedestrian bridge built over the creek and the trail is style murder 12 feet wide. there is no exact time frame when that project will be complete. welshing putting worried parents at east. >> is there a new faster way to test for enterovirus d68, we have that story coming up, steve. >> reporter: and the the boys are back in town, the famous boys two men could be anywhere in the world right now, they want to be at a school in philadelphia, i'll tell you

on the healthwatch tonight, the centers for disease control is now using a new faster lab test to detect enterovirus d68. since the august out break began, the cdc has screened more than 11 hundred people from 45 states, about half of those have tested positive. now the new process will allow health officials to screen patients at almost five times, the previous rate. welshing during their more than two decades of fame, boys two men has logged a lot of miles and performed in front of the hundreds of thousands bows day may have been one of the group's most important concerts. college we are rolling out between the two, 30 miles an hour gusts in philadelphia, and williamstown, new jersey, 29 miles an hour gusts, broomall at saint p ius the tenth school 28 miles an hour gust and upper darby high and drexel hill winds gusting to 27 miles an hour and wind ill increase as a cold front gets closer. we have clouds out there a few sprinkles to the west. but we have in big weather going on until tomorrow afternoon and this to the night time hours. here is our storm system with severe weather to the south and all this moving toward the north east over the next 24 hours. right now we are seeing 70's in philadelphia, 60's in cincinnati, some 50's where we will see the green, this big dip in the jet stream is going to be moving our way in the wake of that front, some cool changes, after that storm system moves in, and for friday even saturday and sunday a little cool pool of air over upper michigan will be moving into reup force the cold but for now we have the warmth with some showers moving in late tomorrow

afternoon and coattails of the nice southerly wind. rain moves in ernest tomorrow night through the morning hours of thursday, as a front sweeps through and after that it is breezy, drying out for thursday afternoon and especially friday with partly sunny skies. as this storm moves away and high pressure builds in we will sea breeze i conditions even as we start the weekend. future weather shows clouds come in, rain showers especially to the west come tomorrow morning. no big deal. philadelphia south and east. and then during the afternoon most of the the action through reading, berks county and a line down through lancaster into maryland, overnight we will see rain, wednesday night to thursday morning especially for that early morning commute with some thunderstorms, by thursday morning and then during the afternoon it begins to lift off toward the north and the east and eventually moving out by the evening period. now we're talking about a half inch to an inch of rain in most areas, three-quarters of an inch to an inch, chance have of thunderstorms, wind gusting to 30 miles an hour tonight even into the day

tomorrow so storminess will be rolling on through thursday. i want to tell you quickly about hurricane gonzalo, this is significant, we are in a little bit of the late season peak in hurricane season this is a category three storm, major hurricane and by the time we make to it friday it will pass by or be very close to bermuda as a category three major hurricane and we will keep a careful eye on. that overnight just looking for mild temperatures, muggy conditions, for your wednesday, showers arrive late with gusty wind. on the exclusive eyewitness weather seven day forecast you can see temperatures changing quickly after the storms early thursday, friday cool, the weekend really chilly, monday and tuesday, staying in the 60's, and normal highs are around 67 for this time of the year. but it is going down. >> yes, it is. >> in a hurry. >> kathy, thanks. >> you bet. >> we will start things off this afternoon on 202 at 6:20
