advection. fog is what we call the summertime fog. and that's what's happening. and so that's going to cool the coast. and it's a feedback loop. right. because the colder gets at the coast. so the fog the stronger the winds blow and the stronger the winds blow. the stronger the upwelling and the upwelling creates colder surface water also creates great fishing. and that cold surface water promotes more fog. feedback loop boom. you know it all too well. and folks, i did a big mistake i made when i was young, starting out i like 30 years ago. i said something about kind of ugly out there. it's foggy. people went nuts, right? we love the fog, pacifica and whatever. and so i learned my lesson. and it is i've learned to love the fog, too, highs today. okay some 80s highs tomorrow mid upper 70s. just like today. not not no big changes. that high pressure is the deal hangs out the thing we are seeing though is up over the top. we're getting these these clouds streaming in kind of over the top. so they're fair weather clouds but they're enough to set us up with filtered sunshine, which gave temperatures a little bit of a shave today. might do it again tomorrow. temperatures
6:20 pm
drop down a couple of degrees in some places, maybe a little warmer than others. depends where the clouds are. and the five day forecast will depict that. so we're kind of rolling like this upper 70s low 80s, low 70s, mid 70s, kind of like this right through the five day. we'll take a peek at it. we'll look for the next opportunity for rain as well. i'll see you back here. >> all right. see you soon, bill. thank you. a major repaving project on highway 37 in the north bay is set to begin this coming weekend. west 37 will be shut down between vallejo and sears point starting tomorrow night, 9:00, and will remain closed until 4:00 monday morning. the suggested detour involves traveling north on highway 29, west on 12, and then south on 121, or even taking the richmond-san rafael bridge. the westbound direction of highway 37 will be shut down once again next weekend. the eastbound direction will be closed. the first and second weekends of may. well still to come tonight, new numbers show mortgage rates are only getting higher. also ahead, israeli leaders inch closer toward responding to iran after last weekend's attack. how the us could play a factor and

emergency, experts remind everyone to have meeting spots for their families and to keep necessary survival items, documents and medication at the ready. >> well, some groups are coming together to form an ad hoc safety net to monitor saturday's 420 event at san francisco's hippie hill. it is a collaboration between the psychedelic church of ambrosia merchants from the haight-ashbury neighborhood and several nonprofits. they're planning to provide water, medical aid, portable toilets and trash pickups. at the gathering. the city canceled the official 420 celebration this year because of a lack of funding, but this coalition says people will show up for the unofficial marijuana holiday anyways, and we will be streaming this unofficial 420 celebration live from hippie hill. you can watch it on the fox local app from 3 to 5 saturday afternoon. >> all righty, nice looking day. it'll be kind of chilly out for the hippie hill event. there'll be some fog in the park as you would expect. there'll be big cloud hanging over the park,
6:50 pm
certainly, and the high pressure is in. and it's hanging out. the thing it's doing, though is it's kind of keeping these or allowing some of these clouds to come in overhead. and there's the higher clouds, wispy clouds, ice crystal clouds. and that's what you're seeing. and that's why temperatures today were filtered a little bit or highs. the sun was filtered a little bit and that cooled things down a couple degrees in some places. and certainly cooler at the coast. this isn't filtered. filtering the sunshine as much as it is just straight up fog and much cooler. and this pattern, we haven't really seen a lot of fog yet this season, but we're we're in for it now. i think the fog bank is establishing itself nicely. and as you look at this live picture , you kind of see the panhandle there and golden gate park and you just get a feel for, okay, it's pretty deep too, because sutro is up over 1000ft and that marine layer looks like it's up pretty high, maybe 1300ft. i didn't look at the sounding, but it's pretty. it's a pretty deep marine layer. so that's going to get into the bay tonight into berkeley, into oakland. and you wake up with fog. and each morning as these weak systems kind of tweak by to the north, that fog is going to get a
6:51 pm
little more a little further push inland and the fog will, kind of just keep building out there. it's the feedback loop. i talked about at 5:00. and that's what we're expecting is, as you expect when you're getting into the spring months, right. and early summer, that's where we're heading. here are the right now temperatures, microclimates clearly in effect cool coast, mild old bay actually kind of cool in oakland. mild and then warmer inland. and that's how it goes right through the bay area. weekend temperatures cooler by ten degrees in napa, six degrees in santa rosa. a lot of this cooling has to do with the fog. and then some of the cooling has the inland cooling has to do with the filtered sunshine. most likely the fog for or the cloud forecast for tomorrow morning. and there's fog all along the coast tomorrow afternoon. and then here we go to saturday morning, saturday afternoon, sunday morning. and i don't know if we got sunday afternoon in here, but it's just subtle changes right through the bay area weekend. and into early next week. we're not seeing any opportunities for rain right now, which is be nice. i mean, this is a good time of year to
6:52 pm
get a little rain in here, right? you get the april shower, the spring showers, and you get some awesome flowers and tree pollens. take a break. and that's, you know, and that's still a possibility. we've got some opportunities here next week potentially for a little bit of wet stuff. but in the meantime, steady as she goes with a really kind of uniform as a spring five day forecast. if i ever saw one. >> all right bill, thank you. a bay area college basketball star who also grew up right here is moving on. jason app baum has e stor

klay thompson was not in the mood to talk about his future with the warriors. but today, warriors general manager mike dunleavy, he made clear the team's intentions. >> we want klay back first and foremost, reassuring news to most warriors fans who can't imagine klay thompson in another uniform. >> and while at age 34, his best years are likely behind him, he was still the warriors second leading scorer and had the fourth most threes in the nba this past season. >> he's still a really good player. we really, really value him and so there's nothing that would make me think that he wants to go somewhere else or we don't want him back. and for that reason, i'm hopeful we can

make it happen. >> so what about draymond green? there's no doubt he was out of control at times. but he also had his highest scoring average in six years and was second on the team after only steph in three point accuracy. plus he signed for the next three seasons. >> if we decided he wasn't worth it, you know then we would have moved off of him years ago. but he's worth it for the golden state warriors. >> return to a familiar place. they're on top of the nba world. it's easy to forget that it was only two seasons ago. >> the warriors claimed their fourth title with this core group, and apparently ownership feels they could still make one more run. maybe maybe it's steph curry. >> it's draymond green. it's klay thompson like those guys are are great guys to go out with. and so and they're really they're still good at basketball. so i think it's a manageable thing. you know i think it's somewhat doable. so we'll see what happens. >> i do think there's tremendous

value in the three of them being warriors for life. it matters that kobe was a laker for life, that that's meaningful to the laker franchise. i think it would be incredible if these three guys could play their whole careers here. >> former campolindo star aidan mahaney, he is leaving saint mary's after two seasons with the gaels. mahaney. he's entered the transfer portal after emerging this past season as one of saint mary's best players. six foot three guard averaged 14 points per game, shot 36% on threes and earning first team all west coast conference honors at no doubt mark madsen at cal. he's going to try and lure him in and bring him in, but we'll see. michigan has also been mentioned as a possible destination, among others. and if you love soccer, mark your calendars. two leagues collide on may 7th when the san jose earthquakes host the oakland roots at paypal park. it's the mls versus the usl championship league in a round of 32 matchup
