park, one week after another crash killed a family of neighb. ktvu james torres live in san francisco here, where some are calling for the use of technology to force drivers to slow down. james garcia. >> that tragedy last week killed an entire. family, a group of four people at a bus stop. then we had this mostúrecent headline over the weekend that sent one man waiting at hisúbus stop. both of those examples, one lawmaker says, should be a reminder for everyone that when you speed, you affect everyone. that's coming from state senator scott wiener, who says he is working on a new bill. he technology thn help limit how fast some cars make that a requirement that all cars in california have that technology. it would limit your driving to just ten miles over local speed limits, he says. speeding is killing far too many people on the road, you know, people haveúused all over the

homicide detectives a deadly spdouble shooting. police rushed to dwight street in san bruno avenue last night about 845. they found two adults who'd been shot inside of a home. they were pronounced dead at the scene. so far, no arrests have been made. the names of the victims have not beenúreleased. if you have any information, call police. >> sunnyvale department of public safety and the santa clara county da's office are investigating a deadly confrontation between an officer and a man. officers were called to a mobile home park on vienna drive saturday night, about a man walking in the area holding a knife. they arrived and ordered him to put down the knife. authorities say the 19 them, and that's when onewardst- officer opened fire. ktvu zac sos talked with one woman who said the shooting happened just feet from her home. >> heartbreaking. i have seen something like that. i put myself in his mom's position and

it's heartbreaking. he was on medication and she didn't understand why this happened. >> i was walking towards this road right hereúand saw all the police activity here. i was very surprised. it's quite unusual. not in this neighborhood and not in this community here. >> sunnyvale public safety officers released a statement a violent attack and being forced to use a firearm in self-defense is the most dreaded encounter. an officer can experience in our profession. >> our time 705. the only in-n-out burgerúin oakland has closed, and the company says it's the first time it has ever shut down one of its restaurants. and rising crime or restaurant. opened in oakland in 2005 near hegenberger road and interstate 880. the operators say they're closing because of waves of car break-ins property damage, thefts and robberies affecting both the customersúand employees.

tao is expected to introduce oakland'súnew police chief to the public. he is floyd mitchell. he's a former police chief in lubbock, texas. he wase police commission. the mayor tao says mitchell's experience and strategies for reducing crime catapulted him to the top of her list, and she says she's happy about the decision to bring mitchell in, and she's confident this will boost the morale in the police department. of course he's coming to a new city, so introduce him to key communityl- leaders. >> we'll make sure that he has ample time to be a of programind file to create that bond. we know this is a very difficult job. >> it's not a regular police chief job. there's a lot of different bosses. he has to answer to understanding the culture of the city of the department. what's been going on is going to take him some time now. >> floyd mitchell was the police chief in lubbock, texas, for four years. before that. he was

a police officer in kansas city for more than 20 years. the mayor says mitchell will be introduced to the public next week, and he's expected to begin as police chief sometime between late april it'll be a lot of chs he will be facing. there will not be basically any honeymoon period at all. so it's going to be, very tough. >> we've got to get command and get control of the department itself, got to deal with the community itself, got to deal with the political machinations that exist within the city. but i think that we should give him a chance to do it. >> and once again, floyd expects oakland police chief sometime between late april and early may. >> san serveúas interim chief starting at the end of the month. paul joseph takes over after anthony mata retires and heads to the da's office. joseph has been with san jose police patrol, narcotics and robbery investigations, a program meant to enhance security at uc berkeley paid for by students

firefighters tried to pull her over to the side, but she had trouble grabbing on to a ladder. eventually, a fire rescue helicopter was able to pull her to safety. >> our year old employee at a laundromat in oakland says she was attacked earlier this month. now ktvu obtained video of the woman being shoved to the ground at woody's laundromat on park boulevard near fifth avenue. police say the two people saidt& some of their personal items were missing, and they asked the victim to check the laundromat surveillance video. when she refused, police say she was attacked. one person seen in that video was cited and then released. happening today at town hall meeting hosted by east bay congressman mark desaulnier about refinery safety. this follows several recent flare ups andúother incidents at refineries in contra costa county that have raised many concerns about public safety. the town hall meeting is set for 630. it will be at john muir elementary school in martinez.

report he and his brother had mn lion. when deputies year old seriously injured and the body of his 21 year old brother. >> they located a man down and next to that individual was a mountain lion in a crouched position. >> off the 21 year old man was declared dead at the scene because of public safety concerns. california wildlife officials authorize a professional trapper to go after and find and catch the animal. it was euthanized and initial dna tests confirmed it was a 90 pound male lion involved in the deadly attack. >>úi feel sorry for the family and the brothers. the one guy lost his brother and you know ps the rest of his life and scarsn >> the 18 year old man went through several surgeries to fix some injuries to his face and

body, according to el dorado sheriff's deputies. he is expected to make a full recovery . the victims names have not been released yet. garcia and dave. >> okay, ali. thank you. time now. 733 oakland homicide investigators still searching for clues for a deadly shooting at a gas station. it happenedt& early saturday morning at the quick serve gas station on east 12th street, which years. the name of the victim has not been released. there's no word about any arrests. oakland police also investigating a shooting where three people were injured at a homeless encampment on 47th avenue near east 12th. police say the three people were taken to the hospital. the last time we checked, theyúwere in stable condition. investigators say the victims and the shooter had been arguing, but they didn't say if any arrests have been made. if you have any information about this case, call oakland police. >> the supreme court will consider a case tomorrow
