>> a deadly police shooting is under investigation in sunnyvale. officers say a young home park refused their orders to drop he thenúmoved toward them, prompting officers to open fire. ktvu zac sos spoke with neighbors who say they saw what happened and have a different story from police. >> heartbreaking. i have never >> a woman who asked not to appear on camera, still shaken after watching sunnyvale police shoot and kill a man armed with a knife just steps from her home on saturday. she says the victim was her neighbor's 19 year old son. position and it's heartbreaking. he was on medication and she didn't understand why this happened. we saw the gentleman walking down the street with the knife in his hand. he wasn't spscreaming or bothering anyone. >> police say they were called to the plaza del rey mobile home park on vienna drive around 530 in the evening. officer quickly

learn the identity of the victim. expected to be released by the county medical examiner's office and as is protocol and police involved shootings, an investigation now underway in part byúthe county da's office in. ktvu, fox two news. >> the assistant chief of the san jose set to become head of the department at the end of this month, according to the bay area news group. paul joseph will take over for outgoing chief anthony mata. joseph has been with the san jose police department for 30 years and has worked in patrol, narcotics and robbery investigations. he is a los angeles native and earned a law degree from uc college of the law, san francisco. so today marks nine years since san jose police officer michael johnson was killed in the line of duty. today, the department honored his memory on social media. officer johnson was shot and killed on march 24th, 2015, by a man rounds from a second floor balcony. he

was the 12th the line of duty. a portion of highway 8& in san jose is now named in his honor. >> a san joseústate police officer was injured overnight when a suspected drunk driver plowed into the officer's suv. it happened just before dawn near the south 10th and east san jose antonio streets, right on the edge of the san jose state campus. 27 year old eleazar castro dionisio was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. the officer was taken to the hospital for treatment and released. >> cal fire flight crews covering sonoma, lake and napa counties are now training to fight firesúat night. this month, pilots and fire captains from cal fire's boggs mountain helitack base in middletownúsay they are in night vision goggle transition training. cal fire says this is the third season of using them to really expand their firefighting capabilities. >> a flowery celebration known as union squarec in bloom is underway in san francisco. that

last night, police in chandler, arizona, were called to a violea doubletree hotel right near chandler boulevard in interstate spten. when officers arrived, ty say a man fired atúthem several times. police say they returned fire, hitting him. detectivest& say the man was taken to the hospital with severe injuries. no officers were hurt in washington, a town north of seattle is remembering the victims of theúdeadliest landslide in u.s. history. >> it happened ten years ago in the community of oso, 43 people were killed when the rain soaked hillside gave way friday, and ae site of that slide. >> i think this is one of those rare occasions where this our et was so thoughtfully done. >> reporter lauren donovan shows us how thisúmemorial is now helping people in that small community. >> in the shadow of the slide spscar, they showed up by the

here on ktvu west coast around the clock coverage at west coast rap.com. and as we continue to celebrate women's history month, we are highlighting a woman who broke barriers in the tech industry a sari espinoza, monica is the ceo and founder of an app called dreamer's roadmap around the country learn about scholarships available to them. sally monica, a former undocumented immigrant herself, says she wants to encourage students who might be in the same situation. she found herself to follow their dreams despite the roadblocks they might face. >> just do it, you know, like i think to this day, right? again, i've been in this industry for almost ten years. i'm still scared of some stuff. but, you know, we have to take the risk. i would just encourage tech leaders to hire more latinos and latinas. you know, i believe like the last metric that i read or that's kind of around there, it's like where we make up less than 3% of the industry, and i think especially in this state,
