of the bay area earlier adding up. you could see some spots over a half an inch of rain. santa rosa 0.62. oakland 0.17. san jose. really picking up some good downpours earlier this evening. up to 0.35. so storm impacts on the way. you and ther storm warning in place right the possibility of some thunderstorms, some gusty winds, and definitely a cooler pattern settling in. and here's the satellite and the radar so you can pick out the front that moved across the bay area going to remain outc here. and- this will keep things interesting into your saturday forecast. now right now on the radar coverage, there's the activity approaching the sierra and some thunderstorms as well. look at all those lightning strikes detected over the past 2 to 3 hours. as we move up into the north the coverage has been decreasing somewhat. as you can see, kind of let me move this map around here. so kind of the rain showers have been tapering, but we still have some more coverage to show you for

department. she says mitchell will start as police chief again between late april and early may. he will be introduced to the public next week. >> as zack mentionedúin an out says its last day for its restaurant in oakland is this sunday. back in january, the company announced it would close the location on hegenberger road near the oakland airport becaus& of increasing crime in the area, putting its employees oakland in-n-out opened in 2005. in-n-out says restaurant to close in the company's 75 year history. >> new at 11, the city of oakland has released plans the d specific plan, or dsp, and the city says it will help meet the city's housing and employment needs while preserving the area's culture. the plan largely focuses on incentivizing private construction of housing the heat of downtown. eventually the city wants to add more than 29,000 new homes by 2040. the city says the plan has undergone extensive publicc ready

for consideration and approval by the oakland city council. >> a woman in hayward stabbed to death in her home and tonight, police say her husband is the suspect. ktvu alice wertz reports he turned himself in hours after the killing. >> it was here at the pepper tree apartments on busy cypress dinnertime before six, several neighbors called 911, reporting a is a public information officer with hayward. >> police officers arrived on scene and located a female inside the apartment, unresponsive and suffering from what appeared to be stab wounds. >> it was too late. >> medical and attempted to trer and pronounced her deceased at the scene. >> ruhullah shahzad was studying at home at the time of the killing. >> i had my headphones airpod in my ear, so my roommate, he was like, oh,úthere is something going on here. maybe the cops going to arrest was a few hourst

garcia turned himself in to another police department. the malec gary garcia. >> he's 66 year old filipino male, a resident of hayward, and the victim is his wife. they'd been married between 2 and 3 years. >> neighbors told us garcia told them he served in iraq and a spwheelchair. >> he had a prosthetic leg, so i would hold the door open for him. i would see him in the mornings when i would do my workout. and, you know, we passed by and say hi toúeach other. >> police say the woman is in her 50s. they are not identifying her as yet. >> she does have family and we're working on getting in touch with all of those family members, including possibly children, neighbors and police say they haven't seen problems at the apartment before. we don't have any prior callsc for service involving these two here in hayward. >> this is one of several fatal cases of domestic violence in the bay area lately. police and organizations that can help want folks to know if you're a victim of domestic violence? there are resources available locally,

nationally and globally. if you're in desperate danger, call 911. in thec meantime, police ae asking anyone who saw or heard anything here in hayward to contact them with information on alice wirtz now a new way to search and track complaints against san francisco sheriff employees and police officers. a joint complaint landing page makes it easier for the public to locate and fill out this form, and allows them to follow up on claims. san francisco's office of the inspector general partnered with the department of police accountability to launch this system on monday. the inspector general hopes this will also make data reporting more efficient and expand accessibility to police in sante spforward after a man was hit bt happened in the area of mendocino avenue and fountain was crossing the street outside was hit. police say that man is

the school's athletic director reportedly told cardinal house, an organization comprised of student athletes from all 36 athletic teams at stanford, to discuss whether to become school employees at its april 24th meeting. this upcoming meeting comes after the national labor relations board ruled members of the dartmouth men's basketball spteam are university employeesa long running flea market is city of sanúfrancisco hase notified vendors that civic center's fulton plaza gift gallery will be closed effective april 1st. this decades old flea market featured vendors selling goods from around the world, including crafts, antiquesl clotng, welry and vintage items. the city has not announced why the gift gallery is closing. san francisco moved to the city's farmers market from un plaza to fulton plaza last september. san francisco's office vacancy rate hit another record high this month, the chronicle reports. data by real estate brokerage cbre found the

store. drive a short distance into the park and the first beds of mustard flowers begin to appear. they literally take over the entire landscape in some areas of the park, and in the weeks ahead, those who regularly come to this park are expecting quite a bit moreúcolor i mean, the more rain, the more wildflowers, right? it just depends on whether they blossome rain from a hike and used an app on her phone to identify many of the flowers that she saw on her walk, and the list is already quite substantial. so what kind of what did you see today? >> we saw a wild mustard meadowc buttercup, baker's gold fieldsl yellow crown vetch, sweet alyssum, blue dicks, california buttercup, and many parks and other open spaces all around the bay area. >> the wild flower bloom should be a sight to see, even though the peak is expected to occur in the weeks ahead. as the weather continuesc to warm up, sky fox found this covering of mustard plants in a field near livermore , also close by and easily visible from the air. a bed of

rides are on the horizon. >> a bay area neighborhood is celebrating the region's creatives tonight. san francisco's inner sunset neighborhood held its quarter annual art walk businesses along irving street from sixth to 16th avenues welcomed patrons, allowing them to visit their galleries. organizers say art was showcased at tonight'styles event. the next art walk is this summer. if you take public transit down san francisco's market street, keep your eyes peeled for the newest artwork installed at the transit shelters. these six posters were created by local and indigenousc artists jesse hernandez. they depict several animals sacred te bay area, with their traditional names in native dialects. these graffiti animals will be up on market street between seventh and the embarcadero.t& >> a california ski resort is welcoming visitors to its mountain in hope, in hopes of raising money to prevent breast cancer. next saturday, march 30th, palisades tahoe is hosting an event called the pink poker
