going to be disturbing, no matter what. you know this country take the lead in it's. and the gun violence. signs of frustration with gun violence in the bay area tonight after a shooting on immunity bus the 11 o'clock news on ktvu. fox two starts now. hello again, everyone. i'm julie julie haener mike mibach san francisco police officers are searching for the person who shot a man on immunity bus tonight, the victim , whose condition has not been disclosed, has been taken to a hospital for treatment. that shooting happened just before six o'clock tonight in the mission district near a bus stop at mission and 13th street shortly after the gunfire. police had that bus surrounded, but the shooter got away. one man on the bus says the victim and shooter were on the bus for some time before shots were fired. he didn't want us to show his face but described what happened. there were two men arguing on the bus. when i got

on its 16th and mission and we got to this stuff. they were calling each other names and the shooter had chall two. get off the bus. to fight and. so the first victim did make that move. and as soon as he got close to the door, and the door opened. her shot him twice. there are no reports of anyone else being injured if you can help investigators track down the shooter. you're asked to contact san francisco police. but with more rain on the way people around the bay area and taking steps that they hope will get them prepared for any new problems. and today we did find people clearing debris from past storms and also stocking up on new supplies. we begin our team coverage, with meteorologist roberta gonzalez tracking that next storm. roberta weekend cleaning up after last tuesday's wind event, and now we've got to get ready for another atmospheric river. let's get to it right now. take a look at our

futu can see the area of low pressure that over night to the mist and heavy drizzle all day long is jogging to the east of us. now keep your attention right here out over the open waters. this is the next atmospheric river. it's taken a direct a more on central california and southern california. but we are in the fridge end of it, the northern half of it. so by tuesday morning before the commute, we're going to start to see the light to moderate rainfall around the bay area. now the core, the center of this area of low pressure is going to be right over the bay area when it opens up. that's when we will see and feel the gusty winds up to 30 mph. don't get me wrong, it won't be anything like last week's wind event, but nonetheless we will have the rain. we will have the wind and we will see up to about two inches of rain and the soggy santa cruz mountain area and the winds will gust up to about 30 mph 40 in the highest salivation , and then we do turn dry on thursday through sunday, but we're to talk more about this

closer every day. but, um that's why today we've just been taking everything out and cleaning up. just trying to say what we can do, and his family have had to evacuate several times this winter because of the landslide , which has damaged six homes on the street. the hillside really started to give way during the last series of storms, despite being tarped and sandbagged lives here with five family members, including his baby and wants to make sure they are safe, little frightening. but you know what can we do? mother nature hardware employees said many customers took advantage of the weekends brief dry weather to prepare their homes. they scooped up items like sump pumps and sandbags, tarps. the dams that go around the base. everything you can imagine. batten down the hatches. the national weather service has been tracking another atmospheric river. meteorologists say the moisture plume is expected further south this time, so they're most concerned about wind gusts in

the bay area. we're seeing branches break off the trees and trees fall on blue sky days. the soils are so moist in the trees are so weakened that you know, even the lightest of impact is gonna cause things to go wrong during last tuesday's atmospheric river, pg and e had its worst day of outages in nearly 30 years with 468,000 customers in the dark. in a statement, pg and e said crews are prepared for this incoming storm, part of the statement reads ahead of storms. pg and e stages, power poles, power lines , transformers and other electrical equipment at pg and e yard throughout our service territory in preparation to restore power to affected areas safely and as quickly as possible. i'm elissa harrington ktvu, fox two news. and in the south bay cleanup still underway from the last big storm workers have been busy clearing down trees from roadways. massive eucalyptus trees came down in

saratoga on tuesday, but it wasn't until recently that tree removal crews started working on clearing them due to a backlog of calls. some residents are now concerned about more trees falling with this next storm on the way i'm not worried about this oak tree. it's beautiful, and it seems solid. but there are some some please that i think we should be more proactive than reactive. for example, um, this is another three. my neighbor was saying that's already hitting the power lines. down trees knocked out power and internet, which was restored only recently. for most residents in the neighborhood, and just a reminder you can use the ktvu weather app to track that next storm coming this week. the free app includes live radar to track the weather, and if you take photos or record video of stormy conditions right near you, you can share those images with us. just email what you have to ktvu photos. at fox dot com. you may see some of those images used during our newscast tonight. four men were arrested for evading police after stealing merchandise from a business. police in alejo say the three men crashed while they

were being pursued by officers yesterday, moments after the burglary, police say three of them tried to run away, but all four were eventually taken into custody. the stolen merchandise valued at more than $12,000 was found inside the suspect's trunk . all of it was returned to the store manager to learn more this week about a triple stabbing in the city of antiochus happened yesterday near the intersection of wilbur avenue and eighth street and injured two children and a pregnant woman. everyone was taken to the hospital for treatment. and as of yesterday two of the victims were in critical condition. investigators did not offer information of the condition of that other victim. one suspect was taken into custody. police say they plan to hold a news conference sometime this week to offer more information. governor newsom announced he wants voters to decide whether the state will expand housing and mental health care treatment programs to address the homelessness crisis. he made that announcement today during over 170,000 people and housed in california last year. governor newsom is laying out

his latest plan to get people off the street. on sunday, he discussed the initiative in san diego as a part of his five day state tour to announce his policy goals. newsom wants to overhaul the state's mental health care act passed by voters in 2004, so there's more accountability over how funds are used. the most acute challenge the state faces and that's the issue of the integration of housing. and the support of services that we need to be stacked on that housing to stabilize individuals that are acute states of psychosis, people that are self medicating with drugs or alcohol addictions . we're fooling ourselves that if we don't address that fundamental need that we can turn this thing around. the measure will allow bonds and funds collected via the mental health care act tax to help fund the construction of smaller homes and permanent housing, residential spaces where mental health care services are also available. we know in the clinical world it's almost impossible. to serve somebody who lives under a bridge or in a

tent and encampment. we need to get that housing available. and connected to the services this week, state senate minority leader brian jones criticized newsom's new strategy, calling it a band aid on the homeless crisis. he says california has already spent $20 billion in the last five years, and the crisis has worsened. but newsom and his supporters believe this time focusing on housing and mental health care for the un house is going to make a difference what we see on our streets. those who are the most ill should not be at the back of the line. we know they're the most difficult to treat, but they should be at the front of the line and these kinds of innovations that we're doing now does just that. we know we need housing. right now, the state has an over $22 billion deficit and data shows that people are leaving the state to find better affordability. the voters will decide on this new plan in 2024
