month hasn't it started off with the storm's over 10 storms hitting the bay area, and now we're ending up with some of the coldest temperatures at least so far this year. so it's a later update. make sure you do dress and many layers because depending where you are, we do have that freeze warning in effect until nine a.m. of frost advisory as well. now the winds ar out of control because they're blowing out of the northeast at times up to 30 mph, so this is mixing up the air mass temperature right now. 33 walnut creek. it's in the mid thirties and conquered in clayton 38 in redwood city and 44 degrees across the santa clara valley later today, sunny skies breezy windows northeast winds will dial back to about 10 to 20 mph numbers will bank between 50 and the tri valley to 55 in santa rosa. how well will it go tonight? both details shortly. but right now, let's say happy monday due south castaneda morning, sir. good morning, roberto. right now we have not a

keep the cold air out the blankets around on and tarps are down. kind of blocks out the wind, but not really. it's still cold in there overnight. freezing temperatures and frost are expected until wednesday, santa clara county emergency officials say warming centers which include public libraries throughout the county, will be available until nine pm at various locations. still homeless advocates are concerned that won't be enough. it's not freezing during the day. it's freezing overnight, and what we need are more overnight warming locations. when it's actually the coldest santa clara county offers to overnight warming center locations for anyone without housing. they also recommend that everyone stay out of the cold as much as possible and bundle up with clothing layers. puffer jacket, jeans, hat urge says so far this month. 15 people have died on the streets in santa clara county for various reasons, but most

people living on the streets are unaware of when a big change in the weather is coming, so advocates alert them, getting them to shelters and giving them warming supplies. warm week. after the floods, not coach napa people out there just extremely vulnerable. so we try to let them know this is what's coming up. emergency officials also asked people not to burn flammable materials in enclosed spaces to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning and to drink plenty of water with electrolytes of possible to stay hydrated. lamonica peters, ktvu fox two news. thank you. lamonica this morning san mateo counties district attorney's office is scheduled to decide whether or not to prosecute the tesla driver whose car plunged 250 ft off a cliff, injuring his wife and two children. the driver, 41 year old dar mesh. patel was also injured in that january 2nd crash at double slide. after patel was released from the hospital last week, he was booked into the cemetery county jail on suspicion of attempted

murder and child abuse. district attorney steve wagstaffe says his office will decide if criminal charges will be filed. and if that happens, patel will then be arraigned this afternoon. a search for a 27 year old diver who disappeared in the waters off the central coast has been suspended. he was part of a four person diving group that got caught in a rip current saturday in the pebble beach area. three of the divers swam to shore, but one man did not break free from the current a search involving coast guard and navy helicopters covered 147 square miles, but they could not find him. the name of the missing diver has not been released. time. it's world five 49ers season is now over with that 31 to 7 lost to the eagles and the nfc championship games later today, quarterback brock purdy will undergo an m r i on his injured right forearm and elbow now. espn reports the team believes that he injured the ligament that runs along the

inner side of the elbow. now if that ligament is ruptured, purdy will need nine months or longer to recover. if it's not recovery time is about six weeks. ktvu is joe fonzi has a recap from philadelphia back and if you look at the final score of the 49ers lost to the eagles, you might say that 49ers got blown out. but if you look a little bit closer to game came down to a series of what ifs first. what if came on the eagles very first offensive series on 1/4 and three play devante smith hauled in the past for 23 yards to keep their drive going. 49ers realized after philadelphia had already run another play that smith trapped the ball off the ground. it looks like he caught it, and then they show a replay up there which i was shocked they showed it. um but ended up looking like a catch on the replay, too, because you couldn't see the other angles the next what if came on the 49ers next series, brock purdy was sacked. his elbow was injured, and then the guy who had led the team to eight

straight wins was no longer effective as a passer. i couldn't throw anything probably over 10 yards, five yards. he was a warrior. kept doing what you're supposed to do. it's tough when you can't throw penalties kept eagle drives alive, but the 49ers had every reason to expect they were going to head to the locker room, trailing 14 to 7 at halftime, but then came a fumble by purdy's replacement, josh johnson, that led to another philadelphia touchdown and the 49ers were down by 14 at halftime. we felt josh was going to go in there and execute our plan and give us a chance. and then when johnson left the game with a concussion, 49ers were forced to put pretty back in the game, making their offense entirely one dimensional do so much you know, they party came back in. they put six guys on line of scrimmage. they loaded the box and so like we can do any play actions anything off it, so we just kinda had to run into it stuff when we can't throw the ball and they know and they know that um, you're not going to be able to run the ball, either. the game ended in

this morning. at least 28 people were killed and 150 injured in pakistan and a suicide bombing inside a mosque. the mosque is located inside a police compound in the city of peshawar, and authorities say most of the worshippers killed were police officers. no one immediately claimed responsibility for the bombing. however, in the past the pakistani taliban have claimed responsibility for similar bombings are time now for 15. there were protests here in the bay area and around the country about the beating. death in memphis of tirane nichols.icn oakland, demonstrators gathered to send what they call a clear and loud message about the need for law enforcement reforms. and, along with the oakland protests, there were weekend protests in memphis, los angeles , and saint paul, minnesota. ktvu is elissa harrington says the protesters have one message.

23 years since the world health organization declared that the coronavirus is a global health emergency back in 2020, the health agency urged countries to focus on reducing infections and limit international spread. at that time, china said there were more than 7700 covid cases in china and that 170 people have died worldwide. there were 82 confirmed cases in 18 countries. according to johns hopkins university. three years later, there have been 670 million cases and almost seven million deaths around the world. well the state of utah has banned gender affirming health care for

is a nice easy start to a monday . westbound bay bridge traffic is off to a good start at 4 32. let's get back to the headlines. all right. thank you, sal. the national weather service will have freeze watches and frost warnings in effect for most of the bay area through wednesday. the cold weather is especially difficult for people who are without permanent housing, and that even includes those with campers and rvs. because running those space heaters for long periods of time can be dangerous . many local governments have set up warming centers in public libraries and community service centers. the city of laiho is offering an overnight warming shelter that opens at eight o'clock tonight. it's available until seven o'clock tomorrow morning. it will reopen at eight o'clock tomorrow night as well for shelter through wednesday morning. that's at the norman king center on magazine street and marin county is offering a heated shelter overnight at the health and wellness campus on koerner boulevard in san rafael . that opens at five o'clock tonight for anyone in need. also today, the san rafael city

council will debate a plan to prevent people from living on the streets the council will consider following the lead of other bay area cities and build tiny homes that would provides shelter for the homeless. supporters of the proposal say the state has already provided $500,000 grant to get the project started. a location for that tiny home community has not been selected. and a 34 year old gerardo enriquez from palo alto, facing charges in connection to a robbery in the parking lot of an outdoor skating rink, investigators say. the man was watching would be victim, load his camera and laptop into a backpack at the winter lodge parking lot. they say he then grabbed him and tried to steal those items. the man said that he pushed henriquez away and called police officers arrived a short time later and found the suspect in the area and arrested him our time now for 34 investigators in sonoma county still out there looking for the cause of a deadly fire. firefighters rescued a woman and three dogs from the home on

highway 1 16. and there's a basketball but the bodies of two other victims were found in another part of the house where they've been sleeping. those victims have not yet been identified. also there's no sign of arson and a few miles away in santa rosa. investigators are looking for the cause of a fire at this event and in building it started at a commercial building on central avenue there correo street late saturday night. it took firefighters 45 minutes to get the flames under control. they found no one inside, but say there was evidence the building had once been occupied by the homeless this morning to automakers that have been working together are changing their business structure. japan's nissan and francis renaud have owned large stakes of stock in each other's companies for more than 20 years. this deal has allowed them to share production and technology, which has saved money for both companies but now has owned a much larger stake in nissan, and that has created
