told plans. it does have a 10 or 15 minutes delay before you make it onto the span. at 701. let's go back to the headlines. thank you, the man in custody for the shootings in half moon bay remains in the san mateo county jail this morning 66 year old channel i. jaoui is charged with seven counts of murder, one count of attempted murder. investigators say zhao is a migrant worker who drove to mountain mushroom forms on highway 92 killed for co workers. they say he then drove to concord forms about a mile away on highway one and killed a supervisor and the spouses of two coworkers. this is the by a large amount in san mateo county . the single most of the victims of homicide in one course of conduct within a short time period. sheriff's deputies arrested zhao outside their substation shortly after the shootings. this is video of that takedown. investigators confirmed that a note was found inside his vehicle but wouldn't give details on what it said. nor have they given a possible motive for the attack. for the
7:03 am
defense. today it's important to begin to analyze this man's mental health background. what was going on at the time of these crimes. court documents show zhao had a history of threatening violence 10 years ago in santa clara county, a coworker filed a restraining order, saying zhao had threatened to kill him time now , 703. some california lawmakers want more restrictions on guns after the mass shootings and half moon bay in monterey park in the state legislature. democrats introduced several new gun safety bills. governor newsom is demanding federal action on gun safety. after those shootings, republicans like house speaker kevin mccall, arthuis pushed back. saying restrictions imposed by the state have not stopped gun violence. but some experts say, despite california's recent mass shootings, gun laws in california are working. gun laws aren't failures because they don't prevent all gun violence.
7:04 am
they are successes to the extent that they do prevent gun violence. we have a mass shooting rate that is lower than the rates in many other states are firearm suicide rate is among the lowest in the country . the laws work, they're not perfect, but nobody expects a lot to be perfect. legal experts say there are ways to get around california's tough gun laws by buying guns in another state or buying them on the illegal market. also they point to recent supreme court ruling that have strengthened the second amendment and also struck down at times to pass extra gun control measures. organizations that focus on serving the asian american community are planning to gather in redwood city to provide additional support for families. more donations are being collected today at the san jose women's center to help the families of the victims and the half moon bay shooting. many people say farm workers are something of an invisible community that the work they do often goes unnoticed. just invisible. workforce it's

7:06 am
many of the asian americans, particularly immigrants, they have come from a country where there's been so much violence, whether it's war or other types of persecution. and so this this experience that the recent events in the last few days right around lunar new year has been triggering. last night, dozens of people gathered in front of the mission church in santa clara university to pray for the mess shooting victims and to pray for healing. turn my didn't realize this has impacted me. on a deep level. it wasn't until i heard the words of the people here where i actually felt something. i was like, wow, i needed to feel that the shooting suspects in half moon bay and monterey park were both asian men in their sixties and seventies, and experts say it is rare for seniors of any background to commit these types of acts. perhaps it speaks to that. you know anybody is capable of using a firearm in in

redwood city area and the bayshore freeway looks good. south bend commuters beginning to fill in a little bit ever so slowly, but it's getting slower when we come back. next time we'll take a look at that livermore valley, which i suspect is going to start filling in with all those people coming in from the tracy triangle. 709 let's get back to the desk. okay sal seethe police body cam video from the night that paul pelosi was attacked. coming up the reason the judge rolled the video should be released and paving the way for bay area transit project the hundreds of millions of dollars that will now be available and why that money was sitting on used for the past five ars.
