couple of months ago and before that he was at a packing before that he was in the bay area. so i've covered him many times this time. i have to tell you, there is a heavy police presence because they know more than likely he will be met. why protesters, pro palestine. they've been doing it on the college campuses. now they get a chance to do it within feet of his motorcade. so they will have a heavy motorcade coming through year. i can tell you more police officers arriving the fairmont off in the distance and we do know that he, of course, should leave before 11 o'clock this morning because that's when he will have that fundraiser. let me show you video of him arriving yesterday at moffett field. he is here strictly to raise money for his reelection. there are no speeches to the public. there's no national policy. this is strictly private events and he hopes to raise debt, raise millions of dollars and be a lot richer.

leaving then arriving to the bay area because he will have that fundraiser in portola valley at 11 o'clock this morning. reportedly cost of anywhere between $20250,000 to a 10. he was here in february meeting with the pelosi's sure enough back then also fundraising. the president knows he needs every dollar because he is in for a battle with former president donald trump come this november. and guys yesterday was exactly 6 months from the day of the elections. so lots going on with the president. there will be plenty of street closures. i'm on taylor. powell is a couple of streets behind me. anything between that is shut down, including the legendary cable cars. they're not allowed to go through as well. we don't see any protesters at this location, but then again, it's still 2 hours before he is set to leave this. so things could change is why we're here to monitor the situation. and we know that

morning. oakland international airport has a new name now that port commissioners unanimously approved the rebrand. it's now going to be san francisco bay, oakland international. so there's a battle in the bay now over the name, san francisco. and we have one ever crawford and sword. >> san francisco city attorney david chiu has already sued on behalf of the city. and on wednesday he sent a letter to the port of oakland urging them to reconsider and instead have both maybe oakland and san francisco work together to come up with an alternative name. but the port of oakland moved ahead with their plans and they say that they'll also have a response to san francisco's lawsuit. there are now 2 bay area airports with the name san francisco in their title. >> a unanimous vote by the oakland port board thursday approved the switch from oakland international airport. to san francisco bay oakland international airport. nobody owns the san francisco bay and

it is the most identify identifiable geographic indicator. and we happen to sit on the on the san francisco bay and we just want people to know where we are so they can come enjoy. >> our beautiful city port board, president barbara lesslie, along with other commissioners says the name change will increase the airport's visibility. >> well, also giving potential travelers more options in the bay area. and a name kings change can certainly do that. that brings that knowledge for people past the mississippi to really understand where oakland sits in the greater bay area and also internationally, really a pub understanding from people from around the world where oakland is. >> in this greater bay area. but the city of san francisco does not want this new name to happen. a lawsuit claims that infringes on san francisco international airport's trademark in a statement to kron for the san francisco city attorney's office says it is disappointing that oakland chose to ignore our multiple offers to collaborate. >> an alternative names and avoid litigation. we have no

choice but to move forward with next steps in our trademark lawsuit, port attorney barry richardson has requested for a declaratory judgment as a counterclaim to the lawsuit. she hopes the court will agree that san francisco bay is a geographic term and not exclusive to the city nor county of san francisco. we were not seeking money damages with that were only seeking a declaration from the court that we can continue to use the mark that the board to support. some residents did voice their concerns before thursday's vote saying if there's going to be more air traffic, that's going to create more air pollution in the city. >> but business leaders and city leaders such as councilmember noel gallo said the name change is going to be good for the airport in oakland, dan thorn kron. 4 news. >> well, 908, is a time. check this out. and alaska airlines flight hit a bird while it was landing at sfo. this was yesterday afternoon. and here in the photo, you can see the damage to the plane's engine

cowling that dan, you see there in the upper left corner of that silver ring. alaska airlines says that after that flight from boston landed the plane was pulled out of service and sent for inspection. no emergency had to be declared. everybody on board was just fine. >> it's 908, and a santa rosa man convicted of murder was sentenced yesterday to 20 years to life in prison. juan antonio martinez was arrested in june of 2022. for killing a man in the windsor area. and after killing in martinez attempted to pose as a kidnapper and extort the victim's girlfriend of $100,000. he was eventually arrested and confessed and led investigators to the body. >> 908, is a time in the south bay. a man is shot and seriously injured in san jose. it happened at the highway 2.80, off ramp and mclaughlin avenue was wednesday night that ramp block for hours as they investigated. it's since reopened. we know the victim is in critical but stable condition. we're keeping an

updated on that. the conditions, moment there is at the moment, should say there's no suspects, no motive. but with the investigation unfolding, we'll keep you updated its 909 and a baby surrounded by drugs. santa clara county authorities made one of the biggest fentanyl seizures ever. >> it was all around childs. area. they found 13 pounds of the drug under a baby's crib at a home in san jose. they rated at home wednesday. they found 25,000 fentanyl pills in a backpack and they found marijuana just a few feet away from the baby's playpen. >> they also found cocaine right next to the baby's formula in the kitchen. the childs parents, 27 year-old octavian marino and 23 year-old crystal delgado now face multiple charges. >> ok, 9.10, is the time. and later this morning, governor gavin newsom is expected to unveil his updated budget for the coming fiscal year. and everybody knows they're going to be some very difficult

decisions to be made because there just isn't enough money. crawford's michael thomas has details in the newsroom. hey, good morning, everyone. that's right. lots of decisions to be made in this budget proposal by governor gavin newsom. it's also known as the may budget revision and essentially give us a closer look on what the governor plans to spend this next fiscal year and really explain how his administration will plan to address the multibillion dollar deficit. it's currently facing the non-partisan legislator. analyst office says that the state is currently projected to have a deficit of about 73 billion dollars. however, governor gavin newsom has said before he believes that amount is actually much lower. so in today's presentation, he's likely to announce where he thinks the deficit stands in the plans. he has to close that gap. this could include cuts in different areas across the state, according to the associated press. this is the second year in a row that california has had this deficit in the state has avoided some of the most painful cuts when it comes to major ongoing programs and services throughout the state. but it has made cuts when it comes to one time spending and

delayed other spending in other areas while also borrowing from other accounts. we spoke with lawmakers at the capitol on both sides of the aisle. take a listen to what they had to say. >> we know the revenues generally coming in lower than the forecast and that's concerning. and so we are prepared for some very difficult choices the bottom line is they're going to make cuts. >> and it's really the democrats. they're in a bind because they made all these promises to people all these things. they said they're going to do and now the going to have to break those promises because we simply don't have the revenue and the money to actually do undoubtedly the governor will make some additional loans and deferrals and perhaps even some significant budget cuts will be part of the may budget revision. >> the governor is set to speak at 11 o'clock this morning during this meeting after he gives them updated budget. they have about 30 days or so to pass the fully balanced budget by june 15th and the next fiscal year set to start july 1st as we get updates, we'll keep you updated. that's a very latest

see this afternoon, as i mentioned, 60's and 70's in the city and at the coastline, your spots to get to if the heat is just not for you. if you do love the heat today is going to be want to enjoy some 80's for most of our daytime highs. south bay temperatures in the upper 80's just shy of 90. well, the east bay looking at low mid to even upper 80's in some spots. oakland, 81 wall conquered and antioch, getting up near 90 degrees. fairfield and vacaville. you're actually hit that ninety-degree mark today. tomorrow's temps around the same as today is maybe not quite as hot but still very toasty sunday. you will notice some relief for mother's day. mid 80's at the warmest. a lot of us falling into the 70's right now. all right, john, thank you for that. will bar. been a big issue for the day. we still don't have any red or orange line service. >> between richmond and that garth or so even to drive there are having a bus bridge that they're providing. if you do need that. also, in addition to that, no other lines are impacted. so that's the silver lining. only those

wearing all black approached the male woman. one point a gun at her dublin. police say the men demanded the carriers mailbox key and phone. you can see her go to the usps truck to get her phone and handed over. then the 2 men run off. thankfully, the male woman was not physically injured. neighbors called 9-1-1 and police arrived shortly after to investigate. i went down to cul-de-sac. >> probably within 10 or 15 minutes after happen after seeing police in his neighborbood, mike grant went down to check it out. once he learned about the robbery, grant went to check his high-quality security camera system to see if it captured anything useful. >> that's when he saw what he believes to be the getaway car narrowed it down to this. a blue grants as police and the u.s. postal inspectors. investigators came by to get the video. he's lived in this dublin neighborhood for nearly 30 years and says only recently has there been a

spike in crime. we've had a rash of crime on this west side of town. that's something that kind starts to wake me up. grant says he's been talking with neighbors about ways to protect their homes, to start putting some cameras up to help. >> and alarm systems and everything like that. be a little proactive is what i'm trying to tell people. he also attended the dublin city council meeting tuesday to talk about the importance of security cameras, especially after monday's robbery. they got to start doing something. we >> have a lot of cameras in town, but they're not up in these neighborhoods. as for the mail carrier grant says he's checked in on her. she's going to take a month off of work to emotionally recover. you know, we're always out talking to her stuff like that. so she's kind of like family. >> so i stopped by just to make sure she was ok, i let her know that we're all thinking about the postal service is offering $150,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the thieves. i'm sara stinson reporting in dublin kron. 4 news.

>> meantime contra costa county now focusing on combating the opioid crisis in the east bay. the county recently received about 5 million dollars to spend from the national lawsuits were filed against opioid manufacturers. they hosted a listening session yesterday in concord. they wanted to hear from the public about how they should best spend that money. the community members who are there suggested maybe focusing on underserved communities. first. >> yeah. at a point where our approach has to also include some harm reduction. >> in this is something that we didn't do. he started alcohol and drugs, but we know that they they the crisis is forcing us to change our approach. meet the needs the community. >> well, the next sessions r on may 15th and then the 16th the 15th will be a virtual meeting. but the one on the 16th will be in person in richmond. >> time for one and the san francisco bay ferry is planning some major expansions throughout the bay area. hopefully won't be this rough

a ride for you. the board of directors is expanding and electrifying transit by 2050. they currently operate in alameda, oakland, richmond, san francisco, south san francisco and vallejo, the first expansions are planned for berkeley and redwood city and then eventually you can catch a ferry in antioch and pittsburgh as well as foster city. for a lot of kids. summer is all about fun in the sun with their friends and going to summer camp for some is a huge part of that yet for others that opportunity is out of reach camp. made for me, though, is looking to change that. it's a nonprofit that wants to give the most underfunded communities. the experience of going to camp to meet the goal. they are looking for volunteers, counselors and donors to support their efforts. we heard from the co-directors on the experience. they're hoping to give kids this summer. >> we want them to have memories how exciting the camp

from the target at the stonestown galleria. and here's how investigators say she did it. 43 year-old graves would take items off the shelves. go to the self checkout scan every item. but then just insert a small amount of money and leave the sfpd followed her and surveilled her twice after she left that target and she was later seen selling the goods at un plaza. the da's office confirms that graves stole from target over the course of 120 visits between 2020 2021. and she was convicted of one felony count of grand theft. and 53 misdemeanor counts of petit theft. >> we're going to take a break here 9.26. big changes, though, coming to your utility bill will explain the new plan that was just approved by state officials.

expedite filling vacant inspector positions in oakland. let's put that kron. 4 news. >> 9.33 is the time about 100 has been charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting. newark police confirmed that 49 year-old bail fugitive recovery agent. charles price of forest hill and a bail bond agent. we're trying to find and that they were looking for an altercation broke out and after an exchange of gunfire, that person they were looking for ended up dying at a hospital. the victim was identified as 42 year-old bay area resident richard turner. police say that he didn't appear for a court appearance regarding felony weapons charges in so a bench warrant was put out for him. the da's office has charged price. now, one count second-degree murder. well, a man has been arrested now for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from a crashed or in brentwood. take a look. we have a picture of items that were taken from a michaels arts and crafts store on lone tree way. this was back in april. police say that matthew davis from antioch

dumped the items onto his bicycle and was trying to take off when he crashed into a parked patrol car. he wasn't hurt, but it didn't end well for me was taken into custody. and east bay mother is outraged now after learning that the drunk driver who hit and killed the father of her child will not serve a single day in prison. the victim greg turn a tree see here died on mother's day back in 2021. he was out for a walk in oakland when a car veered up onto the sidewalk and crashed into him behind the wheel. with 67 year-old timothy amano, wealth manager who lives in piedmont. he pleaded guilty to running from the scene, leaving the victim there to die and his injured wife in the passenger seat of the car. that wife told police that amount of it spent the day drinking in san francisco at golf clubs and restaurants celebrating mother's day before getting behind the wheel to drive back to oakland. on wednesday, an alameda county judge sentenced amounted to a six-year term. but the first 3 years he received the credit for

they're now looking to file a civil lawsuit >> it's 9.36, and a man accused of hitting 2 people with a car, including a 14 year-old girl during a police chase. and temperatures go has pleaded not guilty his arraignment was held yesterday and revealed more about rodney jefferson's past run-ins with the law and just how prosecutors say he hit. >> that team kron four's dan kerman reports. >> thursday afternoon, 54 year-old rodney jefferson pleaded not guilty to 2 counts of leaving the scene of an accident. reckless driving with great bodily injury, evading an officer and driving on a suspended license. the charges stem from his arrest tuesday for hitting 2 pedestrians and leading san francisco police on a chase across the city. authorities say tuesday morning's incident began with jefferson hitting one person while doing donuts at market in jones and then leading police on a chase across town during that pursuit. prosecutors say jefferson hit a 14 year-old girl who was in a crosswalk

outside francisco middle school. prosecutors say a vehicle was stopped to let the teenager cross. but jefferson drove around that car and hit her. the student will survive but has a broken ankle, a dislocated shoulder and bruising to the head during thursday's hearing jefferson made and inaudible outburst when prosecutors said he showed no remorse once arrested and instead went into a profane tirade about his driving skills. prosecutors also told the judge jefferson has 14 prior felony convictions, including one in 2018 for battery with injury on a school employee. the judge called tuesday's incident egregious and said releasing jefferson on bail was a clear risk to public safety. jefferson tried to speak up, but the judge silenced him and continued to explain why she would not be releasing him on bail again. jefferson will remain locked up without bail, at least until his preliminary hearing

these bay fire crews are investigating a fire in multiple cars. this happen in hayward. >> yesterday afternoon near lucine way in the jackson triangle neighborhood. you could see the charred vehicles there. investigators believe there was a fire in one car and then it spread to the others. nobody was hurt. and the 7 tail county sheriff's office is helping to reduce gun-related deaths. they are donating and safety locks to patients. at kaiser permanente in redwood city, 100 safety locks are available now for patients through this new program where doctors we'll be able to hand out the locks to patients who have guns at home. this an opportunity to engage in that discussion. >> in non-judgmental way, just talking about how gun violence is real. it's the number one cause of death and children's and teens in this country. and so it's our responsibility to make sure that we're doing all we can to keep children safe.
