coastal areas will be in for a little bit of a cool down, which is nice to see at least relieved somewhere. >> looking at san jose, you're going to be up to 88 degrees for your high today. so just as warm as yesterday was under those sunshiny skies, we are seeing much more relaxed winds this morning. actually quite calm. this is allowing a little bit of cool coastal air to slip in along the coastline, which is having a nice moderating impact as you're stepping outside this morning, you may think to yourself it actually feels kind nice and cool out here. good morning for that jog. a nice crisp morning and definitely cooler than yesterday to start santa rosa nevado and napa. oakland in half moon bay. seeing temperatures right around 10 to 15 degrees cooler than at the same point yesterday. that will change is this afternoon, though. and after a cool start comes our hottest afternoon with those 80's to low 90's. i'll keep you updated in your full forecast right now. i don't thank you for that. well, we still have a pretty big bar alert. we don't have any red or orange line service between richmond and macarthur. they've got

i see a lot more police presence as well as secret service because they know that the protesters know that he is in town and they plan to rally to get message across to him. yes, they've been doing it on college campuses, but now they can get as close as they possibly can without being pushed back by security or those barricades to send a message to him. the pro-palestine supporters that they want a change in u.s. policy. now the president is presumably up at this time. i'm sure he's taking phone calls after that. he will leave the fairmont hotel for a fundraiser at 11 o'clock this morning. he actually arrived in town yesterday. so let me show you video of that. he arrived at moffett field, went to san francisco where, of course he was escorted. but along the way, some protesters and many supporters greeted him as he made his way to the fairmont. this visit here. it

is not anything about national policy. it is strictly fundraising, 2 events. he will leave san francisco a lot richer. then he was arriving. reportedly the event at 11 o'clock this morning should raise millions of dollars because reportedly just 10 could be anywhere between $20250,000. he was actually here in san francisco back in february, 4 fundraisers as well. he will leave today. go to seattle and you guessed it, more fundraising. the president knows he needs every dollar because he is in for a battle with former president donald trump. and according to political experts, james and area, they say it will cost billions of dollars this time around for november, which is why he is here looking for more money. and in the meantime, if you are here in san francisco, expect a lot of road closures. you can see all of the barricades behind me,

to southern california today while the president stays behind, as will said, he'll be at his other fundraiser today will continue monitoring that. it's 705, and breaking news from overnight. look at this fire. the firefighters battled it to commercial building in fremont that went up in flames. about 2 o'clock in the morning on millman drive. and by the time they got there, there were lots of flames. you can see this is a photo from may. fire department was already the fire spread. it was shooting through the roof. at that point. they spent about an hour and knocked it down pretty quickly and nobody was hurt. of course, now they're still mopping up investigating. p>> another big we're following this morning. oakland international airport has a new name and a new legal battle to go with scott, san francisco and the name. but it's still in oakland. >> and that might confuse some people. so san francisco is against this getting a lot of pushback. let's go and find out more now from kron four's dan thorn. >> san francisco city attorney david chiu has already sued on behalf of the city. and on

wednesday he sent a letter to the port of oakland urging them to reconsider and instead have both maybe oakland and san francisco work together to come up with an alternative name. but the port of oakland moved ahead with their plans and they say that they'll also have a response to san francisco's lawsuit. there are now 2 bay area airports with the name san francisco in their title. >> a unanimous vote by the oakland port board thursday approved the switch from oakland international airport. to san francisco bay oakland international airport. nobody owns the san francisco bay and it is the most identify identifiable geographic >> indicator. and we happen to sit on on the san francisco bay and we just want people to know where we are so they can come enjoy our beautiful city port board. president barbara lesslie, along with other commissioners says the name change will increase the airport's visibility. >> well, also giving potential travelers more options in the bay area. and a name kings

change can certainly do that. that brings that knowledge for people past the mississippi to really understand where oakland sits in the greater bay area and also internationally, of understanding from people from around the world where oakland is. >> in this greater bay area. but the city of san francisco does not want this new name to happen. a lawsuit claims that infringes on san francisco international airport's trademark in a statement to kron for the san francisco city attorney's office says it is disappointing that oakland chose to ignore our multiple offers to collaborate. >> an alternative names and avoid litigation. we have no choice but to move forward with next steps in our trademark lawsuit, porter attorney barry richardson has requested for a declaratory judgment as a counterclaim to the lawsuit. she hopes the court will agree that san francisco bay is a geographic term and not exclusive to the city nor county of san francisco. we were not seeking money damages with that were only seeking a declaration

from the court that we can continue to use the mark that the board to support. some residents did voice their concerns befor thursday's vote saying if there's going to be more air traffic, that's going to create more air pollution in the city. >> but business leaders and city leaders such as councilmember noel gallo said the name change is going to be good for the airport in oakland, dan thorn kron. 4 news. >> 708, is the time. and alaska airlines flight hit a bird while landing at sfo. it happened yesterday afternoon. you can see the debt there on the plane's engine cowling on the upper left edge. alaska airlines says that after that flight from boston landed the plane was pulled out of service. it's going to be inspected now. no emergency had to be declared as it landed there safely. in the south bay. a man has been shot and seriously injured in san jose. it happened at the highway 2.80, off ramp at mclaughlin avenue was wednesday evening. that rapid to be blocked off for hours as they investigated. it's all

open now. we understand the victim is in critical but stable condition at the moment. there's no suspect or motive for this shooting. we'll have to see what the investigation reveals and 709, and in santa clara county, a baby surrounded by drugs. one of the biggest fentanyl seizures. evers, a police found 13 pounds of the drug. >> sentinel under the baby's crib at a home in san jose. they raided the home wednesday. they found 25,000 fentanyl pills in a backpack. they found marijuana a few feet away from the baby's play pen and they found cocaine right next to the baby's formula in the kitchen. the baby's parents, 27 year-old tv and marino and 23 year-old crystal delgado now face multiple charges. >> later this morning, governor gavin newsom is expected to unveil his updated budget for the coming fiscal year. and there was some difficult decisions that had to be made. let's take a closer look at what they decided. kron four's michael thomas in the newsroom. >> hey, good morning, everyone. this budget proposal

by governor gavin newsom. it's also known as the may budget revision and will essentially give us a look on how the governor plans to spend the next year fiscally and also explain how his administration >> is going to address the multibillion dollar deficit. it's currently facing. so the non-partisan legislative analyst's office says the state is facing a projected deficit of about 73 billion dollars. governor gavin newsom, however, has said in the past, he believes that amount is actually much lower. so in today's presentation, he's likely to announce where he thinks the deficit stands in the plans. he has to close that gap. it also includes cuts possibly in different areas. now, according to the associated press, this is actually the second year in a row. the california has had a deficit like this and this size the state has avoided some jordy the painful when it comes to major programs and services. however, there have been cuts for one-time spending and delayed in other spending and also borrowing from other accounts be spoke with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle about the deficit

and what they expect to hear from the governor later this morning. >> we know the revenues generally coming in lower than the forecast and that's concerning. and so we are prepared for some very difficult choices the bottom line is they're going to make cuts. >> and it's really the democrats. they're in a bind because they made all these promises to people all these things. they said they're going to do and now they're going to have to break those promises because we simply don't have the revenue and the money to actually do undoubtedly the governor will make some additional loans and deferrals and perhaps even some significant budget cuts will be part of the may budget revision. >> so after the governor gives his presentation gives an updated budget to the legislator has about a month or so to review it. and then lawmakers need to pass a fully balance budget by june 15th because the new fiscal year is set to start july 1st. this meeting is set for 11 o'clock this morning. it will be live stream. so we'll continue to watch it and see what proposals he brings and what changes we may see when it comes to a different cuts around the state. it's a very

bridge unlike yesterday where you do have a little bit of that feg out there along the coastline. the reason behind that is yesterday we had a pretty sizable offshore wind that was pushing away that cool coastal air that really calm down yesterday. and that is allowed a little bit of cold ocean aired a sweep back into the bay. now that has cooled us off this morning. but it is very shallow. so burns right off today. we actually warm up further than we did yesterday tomorrow morning. i'm expecting a deep in marine layer. so expect some fog in the bay tomorrow morning as well as sunday morning for your mother's day. start that will help to cool us off after today. today, though, may be foggy at the coast, but still high in london. fact even hotter than yesterday was for some spots. it is your typical summer set up with 60's and 70's in the city today, a warm day by city standards as well as 60's and 70's at the coast and then 80's to even a couple of low 90's for the rest of the bay area. daytime highs today just as warm as yesterday for the south bay, san jose. 88

fitness raising its monthly fee for the first time in more than 2 decades, the company will raise the price of what's called the classic membership. it goes from 10 bucks a month to $15 a month for new members beginning in the summer. now executives didn't say exactly why the chain is raising the basic plan, but 50% for the first time since 1998. but the move does come as the company's wrapped grappling with higher interest rates as well as higher construction costs, which is slow down the openings of new gym locations. employees at google aren't happy at a staff meeting. the new york post reporting that employees have vented about a significant drop in company morale just weeks after the tech giant. let go of about 50 workers. they were terminated for staging sit-ins at the office in new york and california. over cloud computing contract with the israeli military employees also complained about the lack of pay raises in light of the company's strong quarterly earnings report and a 70 billion dollars stock buyback. wendy's has a new menu item for parties. it's a

thankfully, the male woman was not physically injured. neighbors called 9-1-1 and police arrived shortly after to investigate. i went down to cul-de-sac. >> probably within 10 or 15 minutes after happen after seeing police in his neighborhood, mike grant went down to check it out. once he learned about the robbery, grant went to check his high-quality security camera system to see if it captured anything useful. >> that's when he saw what he believes to be the getaway car % narrowed it down to this. a blue grants as police and the u.s. postal inspectors. investigators came by to get the video. he's lived in this dublin neighborhood for nearly 30 years and says only recently has there been a spike in crime. we've had a rash of crime on this west side of town. with that, something that kind starts to wake me up. grant says he's been talking with neighbors about ways to protect their homes, to start putting some cameras up to help.

>> 7.25 for your money. you need to make a lot of money to live comfortably in the bay area. if you want to rent and we all know that. but now it has a study to prove it. they looked at april and they say they looked at the rents and they said that you need to make about $133,000 a year to rent comfortably in san jose. that's the most expensive city in their survey. and in san jose, the average household spends 25% of their income on rent. san francisco came in at number 4. the study said that you need to make about $120,000 to read comfortably in san francisco. i just go. woman has been convicted of stealing more than $60,000 worth of merchandise from a

target. the target stonestown galleria. and here's how they say she did it. 43 year-old is he's a graves, would take items off the shelves, go to the self checkout and then scan all the items and sort of small amount of money and leave. so she took a lot of stuff away. and then the sfpd followed her couple of times. they said that she wound up selling those goods at un plaza. the da's office confirms that grave stole from the car target over a course of 120 visits. in between 2020 2021, she was convicted of one felony count of grand theft. and 53 misdemeanor counts of petty theft. well, the former candidate who ran for santa clara county sheriff has been convicted now. >> a lying about her experience in law enforcement. jury convicted 51 year-old on colton felony perjury for falsely certifying that she had the required experience to run. state law requires candidates for sheriff to have at least one year of law enforcement experience within the last 5 years for a

expedite filling vacant inspector positions in oakland. let's look good kron. 4 news. >> 7.34 is the time and a bounty hunter has now been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting. newark police say that 49 year-old bail fugitive recovery agents. charles price of forest hill and the bail bond agent. we're trying to find and when an altercation broke out and after an excaange of gunfire, that man was shot and ended up dying at a hospital. the victim we now know has been identified as 42 year-old bay area resident richard turner. police say it was in march. the turner failed to appear in court for a felony weapons charge and that made him technically a fugitive. the da's office charged price. the bounty hunter with one count of second-degree murder. well, a man has been arrested now for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from the craft store in brentwood. you're looking right now at what was taken from a michaels arts and crafts store, a lone tree way back on april. 30th police say matthew davis from antioch

dumped the items on his bicycle and was taking off when he ran into a parked patrol car. davis was unhurt, but he was taken into custody. >> man accused of hitting 2 people, including a 14 year-old girl with his car during a police chase in san francisco has pleaded not guilty. yeah, to all the charges. his arraignment yesterday revealed more about rodney jefferson's past run-ins with the law and just how prosecutors say he hit the tpam. kron 4. dan kerman has more. thursday afternoon. 54 year-old rodney jefferson pleaded not guilty to 2 counts of leaving the scene of an accident. reckless driving with great bodily injury, evading an officer and driving on a suspended license. the charges stem from his arrest tuesday for hitting 2 pedestrians and leading san francisco police on a chase across the city. authorities say tuesday morning's incident began with jefferson hitting one person while doing donuts at market in jones and then leading police on a chase across town during that

pursuit. prosecutors say jefferson hit a 14 year-old girl who was in a crosswalk outside francisco middle school. prosecutors say a vehicle was stopped to let the teenager cross. but jefferson drove around that car and hit her. the student will survive but has a broken ankle, a dislocated shoulder and bruising to the head during thursday's hearing jefferson made and inaudible outburst when prosecutors said he showed no remorse once arrested and instead went into a profane tirade about his driving skills. prosecutors also told the judge jefferson has 14 prior felony convictions, including one in 2018 for battery with injury on a school employee. the judge called tuesday's incident egregious and said releasing jefferson on bail was a clear risk to public safety. jefferson tried to speak up, but the judge silenced him and continued to explain why she would not be releasing him on bail again.
