you can see it just diving writedowns. when you see a pattern like this, know, it's going to be cooler with the fighting some clouds. but we're actually see the skies open up pretty nicely, even as late or even as early as late this morning here. so looking good on that front may be pick up a little bit of snow up in our mountains as well. there's a look at winds right now. a good, strong, stiff onshore wind in the upper teens here that will pick up into the 20's in some spots. no wind advisory, but close in some spots to that. we're in the mid to upper 50's for temperature readings of all this marine layer kept our temperatures supported a bit and we're above our numbers from yesterday by a couple degrees. give or take one or 2. and the outlook for today. we have again, a mixed bag, a sun and clouds, variable clouds. you want to call it that way. 56 by 9 o'clock by 12. 60 watt this weekend looks pretty sweet. there will build on some of these temperatures on the warm bump expected early next week. checking those area, bridges, rain. right, david wharton, we've got a hot spot and early morning hours. so you're looking right now at. >> 5.80, westbound, 80 east.

and we do have an overturned car here on the westbound lanes. it's blocking at least 2 lanes. but what we know so far, we're looking at a live view of one of our caltrans camera. so we do know that a tow truck is currently on scene. actually. james fletcher, who's on his way into work. well, look at that. so he showing you right there. the overturned vehicle. it doesn't appear to involve any additional cars. just looks like it was a solo vehicle collision. as you can see from the video that james took it did overturn or so right now they have to get that car back upright and they've got a toll that off of the highway. so this is certainly a slow start to your morning again. this is a long 5.80, westbound east. the macarthur maze as you travel into city this morning, we're going to do to follow this as the morning goes on. definitely stay tuned to kron 4. time is now 503. we're looking other bridges. 8 minutes into the city this morning. i'm not seen any

major impact on your other highways. 13 minutes along the san mateo bridge richards center fell bridge 7 minutes and the golden gate bridge. 37 of the tolls, 20 minutes. so that's our top story. east bay community and mourning the loss of a family killed in a fiery crash. investigators say a family of 4 they driving on foothill road win. there. electric car somehow crashed into a tree and caught fire. 4 sarah stinson has that story. >> people continue to drop off flowers here on foothill road where a mom dad and their 2 kids died in a car crash. neighbors of the family say they were headed home from a friend's house when the crash happened. >> it's really sad and tragic. >> a community grieving the loss of a family of 4 killed in a car crash wednesday night in pleasanton neighbors, family, friends and co-workers pulled over on foothill road thursday to drop off flowers

at the crash site sits very shocking. hassan shaikh says he worked with the dead of the family. great >> work great >> police say the crash happened around 9 at night. it appears the family's electric car hit a pole before striking a tree and bursting into flames. the tree has fresh for marks on it and the road is covered in flame retardant phone. neighbors of the family say they want police have only released limited information saying they're thoroughly investigating the crash and there's no indication of alcohol or foul play involved. the family crash right where the road emerges from 2 lanes to one people who live nearby say driving on this stretch of road is dangerous. that no lights at all? it's really dark. >> and a lot of people speed here. at least one of the kids who died in the crash was a student in the pleasanton unified school district. the

district says it's providing counselors and resources to support those affected. this awful. the loss of an entire family >> our our focus is always and how we support. how do we support students and staff and families? the family was driving a vinfast car. >> that's a vietnamese electric car manufacturer. it's only been around a few years. and i spoke with a family friend off camera. she tells me she wants police to investigate to see if the car malfunctioned. other stopping by say they hope this is a somber reminder to all to be extra careful on the road. i'm sara stinson reporting in pleasanton. back to you. >> well, happening today in the east may you've got oakland police, they're honoring one of their own oakland police officer jordan wingate died last saturday from injuries he suffered in 2018 in a car crash while on duty. even memorial services be held at 3 crosses church castro valley to 11:00am. it's

going to be open to the public. shoppers in the east bay. they're stunned to find out they're losing their walmart. the retail giant announced in a store in fremont closing for good. prominent thorne has that story. >> for nearly 20 years, this walmart, he's served customers on al brace street in fremont next month. it's closing for good. i am very shocked. that explosion >> many of so long, this kind fortunate they're closing the store shoppers tell us this is been there. go to walmart since it first opened back in 2006. >> a sign at the store's entrance sharing the closing date next month as well as reduced hours. the company says this location is one of several nationwide that have not been making enough. money starts always been very busy. the reason that given again for not having enough revenue to keep the store open, his is is is questionable. a walmart spokesperson tells kron 4 the closure affects more than 150 employees. those workers are

being encouraged to transfer to other bay area stores, including one. that's roughly 3 miles away. fremont shoppers will now have to go to the city's osgood road location come next month or travel. even farther to union city or milpitas. it's kind of disappointing a because this punt this place is like the closest to where is. >> the store's new hours are from 07:00am to 07:00pm. >> and this location officially closes on. may 24th in fremont. dan thorn kron. 4 news. >> happening today in the south bay and the man accused of attacking the police officer protecting san jose mayor matt mahan. is due to be arraigned. that incident happened tuesday. it's called for was right in the middle of an interview with the mayor in downtown san jose. wesley polar seen here punching the plainclothes police officer assigned to protect the mayor. the law was charged with felony resisting an officer. i means of threat or violence. he's charged with misdemeanor battery. disturbing the peace.

san jose police say polar also has an outstanding arrest warrant out of georgia for resisting arrest with 27 year old mark simon faces attempted kidnapping and child charges. he's in walnut creek. police say they arrested him after responding to a report of an attempted kidnapping of a child, the 7 of the downtown library on north broadway about 2 weeks ago. police say they also found more than 600 images of child on electronic device. simon was carried. simon remains in custody on a 2 million dollar bail. police are asking any by who might have been a victim by simon to come forward and call him. wolf. and lawmakers, they said they have a plan they say would help with the current property insurance crisis. we've been seen is that the companies like state farm announcing they would not renew at least 70,000 property owner policies many due to their fire risk from was gail ong has that story?

with landowners, the backdrop of thursday's press conference took place in santa rosa's coffey park neighborhood. >> area that was virtually wiped out by the 2017 north bay fires among the speakers, sonoma county elected officials and also wildfire survivors. this bill will support efforts like defensible space clearing enhanced emergency water access, fire, oppression systems, technology, and automated systems that assist first responders and much more education is on the rise. but we have to acknowledge that the financial increases in the cost of insurance is leaving many without funds to do the work to protect their homes, families and communities. when asked about how much this bill will cost taxpayers loss of insurance to homeowners is going to be devastating by itself. >> you add to that a disaster too. and the price tag is over the top. so i would argue the cost of this is going

to give a warning to the public. don't be surprised that you might be caught in a procession because they will have hundreds of police officers here to say goodbye to 28 year-old jordan wingate. let me show you a picture of him. he suffered his injuries actually 6 years ago while responding to a call near the port of oakland. it was in the overnight hours shortly before 3 o'clock in the morning when his squad car hit another car ricocheted off of that car before slamming into a park big rig. it was so horrific that when the oakland firefighters got to the scene, they had to rip the car open just to get wingate out of the car, rushed him to highland hospital. since then he's been on. he's been had limited consciousness before dying from his injuries. 6 days ago. this is a tough stretch for the oakland police department because at this very location where i am reporting 3 months ago, they also had to say goodbye to 20 late. he also

was killed in the line of duty. he was shot and killed back on december 29th of last year while responding to a burglary lay's death as well as when gates death are the 54th and 55th officers in the oakland police department's died in the line of duty. let me show you this location really quickly. it is at the junction 5.80, here and to 38, 3 crosses again. this begins at 11 o'clock this morning. we do expect hundreds of police officers from all over the bay area to be in attendance. so traffic will be tight and this is a public so you are in fact, back to you. >> all right. well, thank you for that update. there. time now, 5.34 in san francisco city workers. they're trying to improve their computer system after went down on thursday. well versed in kerman reports that computer system is in trouble.

dispatching police, our fire crews when they get 9-1-1. calls. >> one day after the ribbon was cut on san francisco's new 9-1-1, dispatch center. the computer system that integral to dispatching emergency service personnel went down. we had it what we call a cad outage where we had a failure, had our computer aided dispatch went san francisco's computer, aided dispatch system or cad allows those taking 9-1-1. calls to take incoming information into a computer which police and fire dispatchers in another part of the 9-1-1 center. can see and send help immediately when the system went down at 05:00am. that automatic communication had to be done manually, meaning notes had to be written down and then physically handed to the appropriate dispatcher to send help and something like this happens. it's all hands on deck. so we bring people out supervisors on the floor. whoever needs you know, jump in we have runners, you know, we it's a it's a building with

a lot of people working in it. so when we have >> the scena io we just bring in a few extra hands to make sure we have all the people we need. mary. ellen carroll is the executive director of san francisco's department of emergency management. >> she says dispatchers have trained for this. and as a result, there was no delay in answering incoming 9-1-1, calls or dispatching emergency personnel during the 2 and a half hour outage. >> we're really good at switching gears in order to handle this. when it happens, all san francisco's 9-1-1, dispatch center is brand new. >> the cat is a decade old and well past its life expectancy at the beginning of this year, a contract executed for a new cat system. as for the new cad system, city officials hope to have it up and running in the next 2 to 3 years at san francisco city hall. dan kerman kron. 4 news. >> well, police in pacific are looking for this man. who they say was starting fires pacifica fire way part on

april 10th. they say the man has visited the archery range of the park several times over the past month. and sfmta workers say they were pretty by side. about agencies plan to increase for illegal parking? about 200 workers held a rally right in front of the sfmta headquarters. the workers say the recent announcement was to crack down on illegal parking. it's putting targets on their backs. so one parking control officer we talked to says she's already been assaulted on the job. she's so want to take it. who was illegally part? he didn't like that. he got a ticket because he was doing doordash. >> so i continued on my my route. followtme about 2 or 3 blocks. waited until i stopped at a stoplight, punched a window. and as a result, the glasgow >> workers say they want safer vehicles, a seat at the table with sfmta leaders when important decisions are made. so we reach out to the agency regarding his concerns and we
