little bit of wind out there right now kicking up to about 24 miles per hour in san francisco. these are numbers that i might see later in the afternoon. but already seeing it now and it is going to be a very distinct onshore flow that sticks with us foa the next couple of days. you can see what's going on here. we've got low pressure to the north of us. another low pressure that's kind of moved off towards the south and east and then high pressure that is building here offshore. so that dynamic is going to cause a little bit of this wind. you can see this front delivering some rain to the north of us behind that system is going to be some very, very gusty winds. so not just today as we get to the afternoon, you can see those numbers going up. but take you into friday. and i do think friday afternoon and evening. that is going to be the worst of it as it goes through here i'm taking would saturday, though, still remaining very gusty on saturday as well before this kind of wraps up. so the wind is really going to be the bigger issue. now, do we have a chance of a shower out there, too? as we get into tonight tomorrow? yes, we do very slight chance. but i do think the wind will be a bit more of a nuisance than the little tiny bit of rain that we might get. temperatures are
12:10 pm
a little cool today. you can see we are still in the 50's and the 60's. so expecting another day of those below average temperatures. having said that, we've got a couple spots up a degree or 2. a couple spots down a degree or 2. these are the highs i'm expecting today. so spock could get up to about 70 degrees. but likely those low 60's around the bay and some 50's out at the coast and here in the city and san francisco will be back in a little bit. we'll talk more about our 7 day forecast, which has a very, very nice warm up and i think you'll like sounds great. thanks so much, kyra. was new laws crackdown on hidden fees? some big changes are coming for airline passengers making it easier for you to get a refund if your flight is delayed or canceled kron four's will tran explains. >> here's what you need to know. it will not protect you during summer travel when so many families, of course, take to the skies for vacation is not going to protect you but come the holidays thanksgiving christmas. it will be in place. so if you're delayed during that particular time,
12:11 pm
expect a refund, if that's exactly what you want, no questions asked. this is the biggest sweeping change and u.s. transportation airline history and it goes into effect after so many people have complained to the government that it is so difficult to get a refund. so here are the qualifications you have to be delayed 3 hours or more domestically for an international flight 6 hours or more, but it doesn't stop there. if your bags are delayed after you land more than 12 hours, no questions asked you to. we'll get a refund for that. and that includes taxes. got a chance to talk to travelers this morning. they, of course, are on board with it. scramble to find other airlines flights to get on and then have to pay for that and not get refunded because you chose not to take that flight. so, yeah, it's been frustrating. >> airlines, they're saying that they're not crazy about this, but they were always
12:12 pm
offering refunds. did you know about i didn't know that they're offering refunds. i just got a free neill credit on a flight that was delayed to our east recently. but i didn't know i can get a refund for the ticket. no vouchers because those vouchers or credits, actually, it saves airlines money and it keeps the money where it is because you'll come right back. >> and spend it there with the refunds. you can take that money and book another flight on another airline that possibly can take you. there are a lot quicker, according to transportation secretary pete buttigieg. he says sometimes airlines would do this. you are delayed and there was no guidelines, no set time of 3 or 6 hours. so you would go to the counter and buy another ticket and then you go back to the airline to go. i want my money. and then the airline says we never cancel your flight. that was your decision. now, there are hard guidelines, 3, 6, hours and you will get your money back.
12:13 pm
you don't have to wait on line for ever talking to somebody or hoping to talk to somebody for a refund. it should come back within a week or so to your credit card and no junk fees, whatever they average ties is the exact price, no more lower price. and then you go book your flight, all kinds of fees come forward. and all of a sudden that deal doesn't seem like a dealhanymore. they have to be up front with the prices. back to all right. well, thank you. >> coming up, the usda announces historic new changes to school lunches slashing back on the amount of sugar served. more on the changes being served up and when we being served up and when we can ex

is starting to pick up, particularly can see along the coast right now from point raise down to san francisco. having said that, starting to work its way inland because this is going to be a very distinct onshore flow over the next couple of days, courtesy of one of the fronts. that's to the north of us behind that front. we're going to see even breezier conditions as we get into tomorrow afternoon and evening. you can see it's delivering some showers right now up to portland in parts of washington state as well. so we've got a little wind to contend with and just give you an idea pacifica right now, you know, they're looking about 90 miles per hour wind. you can see how they catch a little break as we get later into the evening. but then tomorrow we will ramp right back up again. and i think go even higher as we head into the afternoon and evening. so just to kind of show you how this is not just a coastal thing as we go throughout the evening tonight, you can see it's going to start pushing across the bay area and then continue tomorrow. and then this is the part. i think it's going to be a little tricky here right tomorrow afternoon into the evening. see some of these gusts getting above 30 miles per hour saturday will also be kind of a blustery day
12:48 pm
as well. you can see again, some of these numbers getting up. there should be a little bit better for those inland. but i think the co still remain very breezy on saturday. so we don't have any wind advisories out yet. for our part of the state. you can see southern california for some of the inland spots and even out of the coast there near santa barbara. they are going to be under wind advisories and a couple spots that are passes. have some wind warnings that are go through friday night where they could see gusts up to about 65 miles per hour or so. the wind is the thing. we do have a slight chance of a shower as we go into tonight and tomorrow. but i don't think that's going to add up to much of anything. it's more about the breezy windy conditions as we get to saturday, i mentioned going to say, start a little bit breezy. but once that calms down, we're off to the races with some really nice weather, right? some sunshine there. then by sunday, we're going to picking up a few more degrees and we can continue that journey as we work our way into monday, tuesday and wednesday. so i think the takeaway here is that while we've been cloudy this week, we are about to have a really nice weekend and that kind of gorgeous, lovely, sunny and above average next week. back to all right. love the sound of more sunshine. thank you.
