21 minutes on the san mateo bridge. you started off with a hazard there. not seeing any major delays on the bridge as of right now, still slogan on that bridge on a 80 richmond center fell bridge. 21 minutes. golden gate bridge around 27. get a look at the highway. still a little red along the east bay and take a little bit longer to taper that out. darya. james, back to you. thanks a lot. rain. it's 901. and now to a story you'll see only on kron 4. a man is in jail. >> after fighting with the police officer who was protecting the mayor of san jose. this all happened in the middle of an interview that crawford was conducting with the mayor. >> we've got dan kerman now with more on who was arrested. it's this attack that's led to the arrest of 35 year-old leslie pollard, san jose. police say pollard has been booked for battering a police officer and resisting arrest with violence. the incident was caught by kron 4 cameras during a tuesday evening interview with san jose mayor matt mahan at first in san fernando as steps right next

to the mayor. both he and the plainclothes san jose police officer providing security for the mayor in-form pollard. that interview is under way do it. >> we're moving talking for reduced. mark. >> pollard uses profanity and tells the officer to mind his own business. what happens next is off camera. it's unclear who touches who first. but pollard is heard saying all smack you right right now 9 seconds later, he does just that hitting the officer in the face and head at least twice at that point. a scuffle in season. police are called witnesses say at some point pollard begins yanking on the officer's tie after 2 more minutes and police nowhere in sight. a customer from a nearby business comes to the offices. rescue removing pollard's hands from the

officers tie and allowing the officer to handcuff him. police eventually arrived and took pollard into custody. one person who witnessed the confrontation but didn't want to go on camera says he's not even sure that the suspect knew the mayor was even involved in all of this and was definitely clear that the person did not know that the security person protecting the mayor was actually a san jose police officer. while kron 4 has posted edited version of the video online sent as a police point out in a statement, the video does not contain the entire incident in particular. it does not include the officer identifying himself, nor does it include the many attempts teammate to de-escalate the situation and avoid using force or taking any enforcement action. police confirm pollard has an outstanding arrest warrant out of georgia for resisting arrest with violence. the officer hospitalized overnight with head and neck pain. but it's now been released. the case is now under review by the santa clara county

district attorney's office. dan kerman kron. 4 news. >> happening today, classes will resume at san jose city college after police canceled them yesterday to investigate a bomb threat. that threat came in shortly after 5 o'clock last night. this is video showing police blocking moore park avenue at bascom while they searched the campus. it took about 3 hours to do that work. and in the end, investigators say they found nothing suspicious. the sonoma county sheriff's office is asking for your help in sharing any information you might have about the victim of this cold case dating back to the 80's. this is a picture of jeffrey thomas rubin. they say his skull was found in 2001 and turned into the sheriff's office up in santa rosa. investigators classified this as a homicide case, but he really could move forward for 20 years. it took that long to finally identify group and by name. sheriff's office says he came to the east coast or came from the east coast was rumored to have worked as a house painter in california.

any information on who this person was or is life please contact police? a bill is making its way through the state legislature right now. that would double. >> the fines for protesters who block highways and freeways. and we know that we've seen a lot of this in the bay area recently. this is the most recent protests that shut down the golden gate bridge for hours. these protesters calling for a cease-fire between israel and gaza and palestinians. and you can see here caused a big disruption. and we've seen a number of these cars freeway disruptions. there was on that same day 8.80, was blocked in oakland for hours. this is a bipartisan push that aims to make it a more difficult and more costly for these protesters to do this. the protesters would be fined. currently. it's $10500. but this bill, if it passes, they be fined up to $1000 depending on past convictions.

>> because we see that these laws on the books are are not enough right there tie the chart. what's happening now? we believe in doubling that would give them smart holes in their tool box to go those that are continually putting others lives at risk. keeping parents from dropping off their children's school. things like that. >> the california highway patrol association is in favor of this because they say these protests put first responders in jeopardy. and, you know, people who need help and prevents them from doing their jobs. the executive director of the council on american islamic relations is against the bill say that isn't it is an attempt to limit free speech. >> 906, is the time. let's turn our attention to the airport here at sfo where there are some big changes coming for airline yeah, we have some new laws. to be on the books that will make it easier for you to get a refund. well, yeah, an automatic refund where you don't have to jump through hoops if your plane. >> is delayed for hours or if it's suddenly canceled. comp

was will tran has the details live at sfo? >> i will. >> duryea you said the key word automatic because the refunds are always available to you. they never disclosed did, but they were available to you. but you have to jump through all kinds of hoops let's face it. who wants to be on the phone for hours punching one biden and the next and the next button, hoping to talk to a human being. and even then before these new rules go into effect, it was up to the airlines discretion. whether or not you are delayed or canceled, canceled is canceled but delayed. well, what's for hours now? they have a hard deadline. so what's going to happen is in 6 months from now. so it's not going to protect you for summer months come thanksgiving and christmas. those lost should be in effect. if you are delay domestically for more than 3 hours and if you fly international and if you're delayed more than 6 hours, automatic refund to your account, if that's what you wish. but it doesn't stop

we're getting a look at the future for san francisco's. stonestown shopping center. >> looks really different. doesn't brookfield properties has been working on these plans for 4 years and then finally sharing the renderings now their new-look involves a civic town center, affordable housing, open spaces and of course, retail space as well. and somebody who lives nearby stonestown for many, many years says this will be a pretty cool change. >> pretty surprised that they're they're going to do because it's been like that for, you know, as long as i can remember since the 70's, it's a good area. and it's it's a great place to be. you know, they got libraries here and, >> you know, schools and think people get educated it's a great place. >> so he's thinking it will really be in a good addition to that area of town. the san francisco planning commission still has to approve this. and so does the board of supervisors. >> o k 9.11, is the time. we have some breaking news to share with you this morning came into the word from new

york that the appeals court there has overturned harvey weinstein's twenty-twenty rape conviction and has ordered now a new trial in that landmark. me too case. so the court found that the judge prejudice to harvey with improper rulings, including letting women testify about allegations that weren't part of the case. weinstein has been serving a 23 year sentence in new york following his conviction on charges of forcibly performing a act in 2006 and then rape in 2013, he will be staying in prison, however, because he was also convicted in los angeles in 2022 of another rate and was sentenced to 16 years in prison. there. we'll keep you updated as we learn more about this new trial in new york. we'll take a break as we approach 9.12, but still ahead on the kron, 4 morning news. nearly 3 dozen death penalty cases in alameda county are now in limbo because of potential. >> misconduct. we'll hear from legal experts and as the state of arizona prepares for a near total abortion ban to take

california and along it some rainfall that's now falling up in humboldt county near the oregon border to this low pressure area dives in to the east of us. that means that northern california in the sierra get a dose of rain and even mountain snow on the bay area, right on the edge of any sort of chance of rainfall. thus our rain potential is literally just sprinkles overnight tonight into tomorrow morning. you can see that reflected here in your futurecast rainfall totals. nothing much to look at this year does get another couple of inches. mostly at very highest of elevations, including donner summit in echo past. if you are heading to the sierra to kick off the weekend, just around the corner, temperatures today are going to be in the 50's to 60's in the city as well elsewhere at the coastline. daytime highs for bayshore in inland areas. right back to the sixties today. less muggy than windier than yesterday. so this one is just going to be more of a brisk, blustery feel especially out towards the coast. a lot of 64 is in the east bay concord, as well as antioch in napa right up at

70 degrees. some of warmer spots tomorrow is going to be another day of 60's even cooler than today due to the cold front and windy with that chance of sprinkles. after that, though, the weekend clears and dries out and lots of sunshine into the weekend. right now, all eyes on eve of that a little congestion out there on your highways and bridges. >> so not in the clear in the 9 o'clock hour. still nearly an hour along 101 as you're traveling from 85 up to menlo park. 2, 80 82 might be better alternate at this hour. 16 minutes into the city. the busy pretty backed over the bay bridge for most of the morning mateo bridge. few traffic has got about 30 minutes now down to 16. so i am seeing some improvement there as a traveler. a 32 minute ride crockett out towards the maze and pinole and appian way. we do have a traffic collision there. so you see that low slight delay and also want to get the berkeley things are just slowing down. checking on silly angeles down to 37 around 40 minutes started is

back to you. >> time now to talk winners and losers on wall street with financial expert rob black. and rob, i don't see a lot of winning going on. the dow off by more than 600 points. at one point this morning currently went down more than 500. ouch. good morning. it's kind of an ouch we deserve it. our stocks were sitting at near all-time highs or all-time highs about 2 weeks ago were off about 5%. that's normal. >> we should be off 10%. 20% is a bear market. 10 1% correction. corrections are but that what we saw today was gdp for the 1st quarter in advance. reading will be 2 more readings of that. he met 1.0. 6 1% was expected. 2.4, so much weaker than expected. and the 4th quarter gdp, gross domestic product grew 3.8%. so a big deceleration last 3 onths. i'm consumer prices also are generally a little

higher federal, higher marginal higher. so those 3 little blips of become a bump. so inflation now is set 3.4%. that wouldn't be killing but with a slowdown in the economy, that's the combination is pulling us back to a persistent inflation. 10 year treasury is yielding 4.7%. so i'm keeping cash in a money market. earning almost 5% versus going after stocks, i think still has another 5% downside unless we buy the dips right? >> well, speaking of stocks, i know we're we're expecting to hear what microsoft and alphabet today we heard from eta yesterday. they beat 1st quarter expectations. but i guess. their stocks getting hammered right now. they're off by double digits right now. >> yeah. 173 billion. dollar hit the market there and down in 12 15% today. keep in mind there. still up 100 bucks for the year, starting the year to 5.40, a year ago. and now it's at 3.40. it's doing quite the problem is we want fire. there's been a lot of money on

ai and mixed reality. their capital expenditures for equipment. they've opted 32 billion to 35 to 40 billion. i'm thinking this they get 3.2 billion viewers day at their different so they dominate social media such as ongoing at facebook threads. real stories, instagram, whatsapp. they can give me an ad for 50 plus year old male on a mortgage and they can give will be dog in it because i'd like dog videos in the past. they could get dari and had our chair weather person who's 40 and he likes cats and cap will be a dance. they're spending a lot of money to personalize with things that you've seen before with ads. they're going to serve to 3.2 billion users day on their different devices on the different applications. they'll be fine. it's just going to be a rough 6 to 9 months where billions or morgan be spent on equipment for says, getting back to the shareholders. i look at as a

>> pass a bill that would allow arizona doctors to come to california to perform abortion services after their currently, arizona has a law on the books that allows abortions in the first 15 weeks of pregnancy. but the state supreme court ruled earlier this month that the state should follow a lot was actually crafted way back in 18, 64, which bans nearly all

abortions, except when the pregnant person's life is in danger. and are found to violate this could face a penalty of 2 to 5 years in prison. governor newsom has joined lawmakers announcing this bill. they call it the urgency bill that would allow arizona doctors to come to california and provide abortion care for parents who for the patients who travel here. what and our hand, not just our hearts and we want to we want to create a framework of real support. we have the opportunity to help women who woke up last week with fewer rights than their mothers have had for their lifetime. we proudly take on this fight. we will not abandon our sisters or their health care professionals in arizona or in any other state. just hours after this announcement, the gop controlled arizona lower state house voted to repeal the near abortion ban, but it still needs approval from the arizona state senate before it could make it to the

>> 29 right now and we're looking at a great day, but there are some sunshine peeking through a little bit. how we see behind us here. let's get the update on the yet we've got a little bit of sunshine making its way in now for a lot of spots. maybe a little grayer right there behind me at the golden gate bridge. but take a look at this view at quay tower right here. this is the sunniest i've seen in any of our web cams and multiple days. >> there you go. you can see that sunshine overhead. also note the wind, though, the boat around some of those branches winds will pick up today in advance of a cold front moving in out of the northwest. and this is going to replace yesterday's mcgee, southern wind with the cool brisk wind from the northwest and look at that later on today. pretty breezy finished the day and also going to be breezy tomorrow, too. as for temperatures right now, it's mid to upper 50's. we will see 60's this afternoon. but with those brisk winds, i would keep the jacket on hand today and tomorrow for that matter.

got away with removing people based on that city on wednesday, legal experts weighing in on the bombshell dropped by alameda county district attorney pamela price. >> that a federal judge has ordered the review of 35 death penalty cases after these scribbled notes were discovered while examining an appeal for this man, ernest, a 51 year-old was convicted and put on death row for the 1995 killing of 9 year-old lance clark and attempted murder of his grandmother. price says that the notes suggest prosecutors may have blocked female black and jewish potential jurors from serving on trials. brown is a criminal law professor at uc law. san francisco. >> this is probably just the tip of the iceberg. because there were a lot of bats and shenanigans going on until california tightened its laws and what could happen next is not only could these death verdicts be set aside, but the entire case could be set

aside. and some of these individuals may be given a new trial in its entirety. >> stephen clark is a former santa clara prosecutor and now defense attorney and legal analyst. while the death penalty cases are under the microscope, both a legal analysts say that there has been sweeping changes in the past couple of decades, making jury selection more transparent. there's been a tremendous evolution and how jury selection is you have to have a legitimate reason for removing a juror. >> and you have to articulate that reason to the court. if asked. >> so we are no suspicious of removals of people on the basis not just of race or gender, but a bunch of other categories like religion, nationality. you know, a lot of other things. and moreover, when the prosecution has to provide a reason, it can't be a silly reason. it has to be a reason that stands like that. that makes some common sense. >> but legal experts say that it could take years before the truth is revealed on whether or not there was misconduct

conducted in these death penalty cases in alameda county in the newsroom to recess stasio kron. 4 news. >> well, a long anticipated documentary about the alexis gabe murder case is finally been aired. that then 23 year-old woman from oakley went missing back in january of 2022. and her partial remains were found near sacramento months later. now, gabe's family, friends and community members gathered at supreme his pizzeria in oakley to watch the documentary together last family has been pushing hard for this documentary be released, hoping that will change public perception about the case and possibly to charges against the mother of alexis ex-boyfriend, marshall jones. jones was the primary suspect in that case, but he died in a police standoff before more information could be gathered and after watching the documentary, alexis, his parents say they were actually a bit disappointed that the final product was missing. what they thought were some key pieces, including a video of the suspects. mother.

by the investigating agencies. there is no indication anyone other than marshall jones was directly involved in the murder of alexis. gabe, either as a direct perpetrator or an aider and abettor end quote. the gabe family says they still intend to file a lawsuit against jones. his mother. happening tomorrow in the east bay, a memorial service for fallen oakland police officer jordan wingate will be held. he died saturday from injuries he suffered back in the 2018 car crash while he was on duty. the service will be held at 3 cross church in castro valley. it'll start at 11 o'clock in the morning and the public is welcome. >> it's 9.35. and we have an update now on the wedding dress that was in this box that was snatched from a porch in redwood city. police have arrested a suspect. this theft happened back on april. 11th and the police got multiple tips from the community that led them to 65 year-old. henry fonseka and they found the

wedding dress and gave it back to the bride. hopefully in time in the north bay police have arrested a person for having a stolen car and using that car to ram a police patrol vehicle trying to get away. here is the vehicle that police tried to stop. this is monday. first they noticed in the parking lot of a business near tennessee stree and found out that it was stolen out of rich men when they attempted to pull the driver over here and a patrol vehicle 6 times and then crashed into a wall trying to escape. police did arrest him and they found this loaded gun in the back seat. it had no serial number. >> in the east bay, oakland, small business owners are concerned about a road project

proposing to improve safety along this road. but that includes getting rid of dozens of those parking spaces. our concern is that if they take away. >> easy access to our businesses. it's going to be a lot harder for our customers. able to get to veterinarian elizabeth mcdonald says the proposed removal of 30 to 40 parking spots would make life difficult for her clients, especially those who are elderly and with pets that need extra care. her business, the grand lake better an area hospital and the grand avenue business association have been asking for input to share with oak dot. we unfortunately really haven't been able to get very much input to them. >> they have not really come down and not talk to the merchants on the streets. so we got permission if we collected input. >> that we could at least presented to kdot says grand avenue from broadway to macarthur needs to be repaved to cut down on a high number of bicycle and pedestrian accidents. >> the proposed improvements

faces a maximum of 50 years in prison for attacking paul pelosi with a hammer in october of 2022. sfo in the city of san francisco are facing a lawsuit now by an airline mechanic who says he lost his livelihood because of a faulty security turnstile. yeah, they say the turnstile failed just before the remembrance of 9.11 and now he's suing the city to get his job back with kron four's ken wayne with the story. >> put on the list with felons and murder and it's the same list, ok for tsa. alter spurlock doesn't want to show hrs face on camera because he's concerned it could be blacklisted by airlines because his airport security badge has been revoked on september 9th 2021, just 2 days before the 20th anniversary of the 9.11 attacks, the alaska airlines aviation mechanic was stopped at the employees. security turnstile want trying to go to work at sfo. >> he used his biometrics security badge to pass through, but it didn't work
