there's some sort of update that changes things just a bit. your view outside of the east bay hills, a lot of clouds overhead this morning. we're going to see those mostly cloudy skies pretty much all day long today winds are lighter, but directly from the south transporting that muggy feeling air our direction. and that's the biggest change will notice today. temperatures are in the 50's with hayward at 59 degrees, oakland and concord at 57 santa rosa and petaluma each at 53 right now. later on today. 60's is as warm as we're getting. nobody getting into the 70's. i will be talking about what else to expect for the rest of the weekend. a few more changes that that all still to come right now. all right, john, thank you for that off to a great start this morning for everybody in the road. not seeing any major hot spot. 2 lights are on at the bay bridge. so about 12 minutes to make that ride into the city. mateo bridge just under 14, 80 to 101, richmond center fell bridge still nice and light. 7 minute ride. golden gate bridge. no short of 20 minutes. 37 to the tolls are uses. back to you. thank you.

reyna won a big story this morning. david de pap the man which have former house speaker nancy pelosi's husband. >> he's going to be sentenced in federal court and we've got kron four's will tran on the story for us live in the city. good morning. well, >> james, that will happen right behind me in about 4 hours from now. he was found guilty last november. and this morning, david de pap, we'll find out if you could possibly spend the rest of his life in prison. he's 43 years old and he faces a maximum of 50 years behind bars. now, let me show you the video. this all went down back on october of 2022. when david de pap went to the pelosi home in san francisco, looking to speak to then speaker of the house, nancy pelosi. she was not home at the time. in fact, she was in washington, d.c., home at the time was her husband, paul pelosi. he woke up to find find the pap inside the home. he called 9-1-1 and basically spoke in code without rattling

to path that somebody broke into the home. police officers then came to the san francisco home, sot of pap and pelosi at the front door tried to defuse the situation and that's when pap hit pelosi on top of the head several times with a hammer. he was rushed to the hospitai into emergency surgery. and at last check, he is still recovering from his injuries. he he was convicted on 2 counts. the first count was attack of an immediate family member of a public official, which, of course, is nancy pelosi. and the second one was kidnapping. if he serves all 50 years, he will be 93 years old, but his trouble doesn't end here in federal court. he also faces state charges for attacking paul pelosi as well. and even then that is not over because he came into the u.s. from canada in the early 2, thousands on the visa and that

these expire 6 months after entries. so he never should have been in the country in the first place. 2 attacked paul pelosi. all right. thanks a lot. well, 603, is the time. >> now a story you'll see only on kron 4 in downtown san jose. what happened yesterday when mayor matt mahan was in the middle of an interview. >> with our kron, 4 crews and we captured look at hear this. this fight between the mayor's security detail and a pedestrian, a man who tried to attack in san jose. police say this all started when the man started acting erratically around the mayor and the staff and then he got hostile. a plainclothes officer assigned to the mayor's detail, tried to de-escalate the situation several times before it came to this. you can see the man eventually hit the officer.

and several bystanders helped to detain. the man was eventually taken into custody. the officer was treated for minor injuries. the man now faces several charges, including felony battery on a police officer. a san jose police plan to hand this case to the district attorney's office soon. a man involved in a hit and run earlier this week in san francisco remains in critical condition. and now the community is rallying to try to help him and his family kron four's. michael thomas is in the newsroom with the details. >> hey, good morning, everyone. will that driver still on the run while this husband and father of 2 is currently in the hospital this morning listed under critical condition with bombs. donuts telling me he hasn't been responsive since the accident. >> that take a look. this is a map. according to san francisco. police say hit and run happened early sunday morning at around 03:00am neared abbas avenue and guerrero street. when police arrived, they found a man with no identification lying on the ground unconscious. he would soon be identified as his season. mizzou deo. he had been hit by a vehicle while

riding an electric scooter with the driver and vehicle fleeing the scene. he was rushed to a nearby hospital and was listed under critical condition ever since the bombs. donuts manager tells me that they knew something was wrong when he didn't show up for his 03:00am shift. >> but he should. you know, and that's how >> the store has since created a gofundme account. and you can see there's fires posted all throughout their windows where he's work. they say that he is the sole provider for both his wife and 2 young kids that are ages 3, 5, they actually live in mexico right now adding that the family still has not been able to see him in the hospital. they're working with social workers to try to get a visa before things get worse. san francisco police say it's all still under investigation. they're trying to find that

driver in that vehicle. and right now they're asking the public for any information. it may have. now the employees this morning bob's donuts. tell me they're just really hoping that things get better for him and they're going to continue to post on that. go-fund me with any updates and we get those will keep you updated. darren james, we'll send it back to you. all right. thank you, michael. >> 606, is the time. and turning to another big story this morning, the san jose city council has approved a proposal to build 150 new affordable housing units in the southern part of that city. just off great oaks, exit of highway 85. the mayor's office says once the new housing is built. >> the homeless who live in rv's encampments around it will be asked to accept the shelter or have to leave conference. moment has more. >> well, it was here at san jose city council last week were councilors approved the contract to get the ball rolling on this housing project in south san jose, a neighborhood where mayor matt mahan tells me there is a significant number of unhoused people there. and he says once this facility is constructed,

they will offer shelter numerous times to the unhoused people there. and if you do not accept it, they will be swept. >> right now, it's an empty lot. but soon a housing complex will stand with 150. a small step to help bring the thousands of currently unhoused people in san jose get off the street. yes, it is very difficult. sharon lee has been at this encampment between and monterey road for a year. kate. he's speaking outside. scary. she says volunteers used to take trash out of their encampment. that stopped 3 months ago. she also says there are rumors that this camp will be swept. i was on the late in this sense. 2018, that's 6 years. she's waited for housing. she hopes that wait will be over with this new facility gets built in her backyard. one is that the neighborhoods to take on solutions to homelessness should see the immediate benefits. mayor matt mahan says the beds will first be offered to those unsheltered in the immediate area.

symptoms of opioid withdrawals. this allows clinics to get people. 72 hours of methadone and the city says that will make it easier for us to access to treatment. san francisco's going to get those new giant pandas from china soon. but the city first needs to raise money to build and maintain enclosure for them in the zoo. the mayor is asking the board of supervisors for that so that they would be able begin raising money from private entities. the california state university system is setting aside where the 4 and a half million dollars to advance black student access. they say the money will help fund programs and projects that each university has identified to help students reach the success that they want them to. a black student enrollment retention and graduation rates are lower than they want them to be. the giants beat the mets in game 2 of their series last night. and now they're looking for their next game. waits at 12. 45 today?

>> alright, 6.14, is the time. let's check bay area weather here on this wednesday. we're halfway through the week. yeah, and i think we've got some the horizon. john. yeah, it's just the weather is keeping us on our toes each and every day. so today we're starting with the cloudy skies. you can see out there golden gate bridge sitting under the cloudy nowhere close to seeing any sort of fog across the bay. just a blanket, a mid-level stratus above us. we saw a thunderstorm after thunderstorm popping up in the central valley in the sierra yesterday. if you're in the inland east bay and you look to the eastern horizon, you likely saw those thunder clouds. we do see that potential continuing for southern california in the sierra as this low pressure makes its way across the region for us right now. it's dragging in a muggy feeling southerly breeze. it's not warm. it's muggy. so a little less feeling than yesterday, a little less brisk feeling in than yesterday, but we're still holding on to the clouds in the 60's. as you can see, it's just cloudy all day today. we will be looking at

dry skies both today and tomorrow for the bay area. tomorrow night, though, a chance of showers does start to make way into the region. and if you look towards the for there at the corner of the screen, we have some thunderstorm activity building for the sierra into the weekend. that is going to make any hiking or skiing that you're doing this weekend. very interesting. we're going to see a very active weekend for the sierra with that thunderstorm development for the bay area. we may just see a sprinkle or 2 towards friday. it's really nothing much to know. the sierra is going to see some very high elevation snowfall. only a few inches of it really just wanted to show this map one more time the season. as for where we're sitting for your daytime highs today at 60's pretty much across the board from san francisco down the coast. it's low 60's for the bayshore in our inland areas. it's the mid to upper 60's. nobody is giving up to 70 degrees today. so it is definitely on the cooler side and you will notice that humid feel as you're getting out there. hayward and oakland in the mid sixties today. well,

had. fremont smooth sailing going to take about 26 months to make that ride. do you guys back to you? thanks. a lot rain in 6.17, as juvenile was arrested for attempting to carjack a woman in san bruno. >> this happened monday and the 700 block of san felipe avenue. the driver was in her car and part when he open up or door and demanded her keys, he wasn't able to take anything and he took off in a short time later, police arrested him. police in fairfield are looking for the person responsible for a hit, the hit and run. that happened of a pedestrian yesterday morning. and officer found a victim who had been struck and killed at the air base area around 1 o'clock in the afternoon or chilled, still trying to identify what car hit that person killed him. san francisco mayor london breed wants to crack down on illegal activity around. it's happening in late night corner stores in the tenderloin. but some people who live and work there aren't on board with the

earnings report showed a steep decline in sales. >> tesla executives announced more than 2700 employees will lose their jobs. they say thousands of them work in fremont and palo alto executives revealed their net income dropped more than 50% in the first part of this year. the transportation analyst said these cuts will save the company. a couple of billion dollars. and this all comes as google is also letting people go firing them after they protested the israel-hamas war last week. more than 20 pro palestinian workers were fired after holding sit-in protest at google offices in sunnyvale and new york. and now the company says that additional employees were fired after investigation revealed the identities of people who wore masks. a group representing the workers says more than 50 employees have been fired in all. they say they were protesting the company supplying the israeli government with ai technology.

in 52 mateo bridge over still steady. there. our richmond center fell bridge of them. 7 minutes to 12. just a few minutes uptick. 90 minute ride across the golden gate bridge. and a look at your highways right now. how a for along antioch over the east bay, 82 hayworth. those are probably the busiest right now 80 as you travel to richmond, that's all start to pick up just a little bit. darya. james, back to you. thanks. a lot rain at 6.30, in the east bay. a plea deal has been reached in the murder of a home depot worker. now that worker was shot and killed while confronting a shoplifting suspect in pleasanton. >> kron four's dan kerman now talking with the victim's mother. >> 26 year-old blake. most was shot and killed a little over a year ago while working as a loss prevention officer at this home depot in pleasanton. police say he was shot after confronting a woman for shoplifting. that woman was later identified as benicia naps. she was eventually charged with murder and her accomplice. david guillory was charged with child endangerment, an accessory to robbery now is the 2 are set to go to trial. a plea

agreement has been reached with naps, pleading guilty with the sentence of 19 years to life and guillory pleading guilty with a sentence of 7 years and 4 months. if the deal is actually a plea deal that i. >> arrange for. >> lori moses, the mother of blake moe's. she says it was the family's decision to offer this deal instead of going through a protracted trial with grisly details and potential appeals. >> it gives us our life back. we now get to pursue other things and honor our son instead of. the people. the killer side continuing to hold ransom our lives and our families. it's big, big deal to us. 2 to have freedom and to be able to grieve properly and to debris. most never thought. da pamela price made the proper charging decisions in her son's murder. >> and says if she had a plea deal may have been reached earlier. now with the deal done, the family can grieve

and some students are walking to class and they been expressing their support. but some jewish students say that they have been harassed for months and feel the university has let them down. >> i think that the students using their power and their privilege to uplift other people, especially those suffering from a genocide is extremely important. uc berkeley doesn't care about your students prioritize your safety and it isn't care of. we are forced to learn in an environment that is not conducive to one in which we feel welcomed. >> or let alone say fun. >> university says there's just 3 weeks left in the school year and they want to protect the right to free speech and also make sure that the school is safe. the protesters are demanding university also boycott israel as well. the school says that is not something that they will consider the jewish community. relations council released a statement in response to the demonstration

going on. and you can see here, they say, quote, we are carefully monitoring emerging anti-israel protests, uc berkeley, which appear to be inspired by the deeply anti-semitic columbia encampment, responsible for ask and blocking jewish students from accessing their campus. and then it goes on to say while their words are abor and the protesters at uc berkeley have a right to free speech and assembly and no violence or obstruction has yet been reported. we are in conversation with the administration who are committed to ensuring jewish safety and participation and quote. >> in the east bay, a restaurant owner in downtown oakland is cleaning up after yet another break in the most recent incident happened on monday morning. the owner of the roasted and raw shared this video of the restaurant's glass door. it was shattered. the owner says this break-in cost about $3500 to fix that

owner says this is the 4th time he's been burglarized in 3 years since he opened his restaurant. he says he doesn't even call police anymore, but he is asking for more police in downtown oakland to help deter crimes like this. >> huge police presence. a lot of be cops. a lot of cars driving around during the day. but for some reason that night. oakland police just turned into responding to gunshots and violence. and to me, that's not. that's not a feeling, you know, the entire city. >> you know, the oakland police department says their staff tracks crime trends and are deploying officers to areas that are experiencing more crime. they've also expanded foot patrols to now 14 officers. >> well, save alameda for everyone. the group leading the effort to recall alameda district attorney pamela price held a rally yesterday at the alameda county administration. building. they are calling on county supervisors to set a date for the recall election during next tuesday's meeting. now that enough signatures have been verified.

shelton is charged with 7 counts of child molestation. he's accused of touching and abusing a 5th grade girl at an after-school program at robert semple elementary school in 2022, he worked at roberts a simple since 2015, a benicia school district officials says as of the 2023 24 school year, shelton no longer works for the district. the suit also claims that he committed similar acts against a minor in alameda county in 2018 and according to the napa valley register, the napa valley register. he was acquitted of 6 counts of child molestation back in 2008. it's 6.37. in the east bay, a former account and charged with stealing hundreds of $1000 from her employer. investigators say angela fay brown embezzled more than $800,000 while she was working for viking. pavers in richmond between 2017 2022,
