you for joining us tonight. i'm noelle bellow, the co-founder of san francisco's glide memorial church passed away today at the age of 94 leaving behind a massive legacy kron four's. sara stinson spoke with folks at glide and community leaders about cecil's life. she joins us now live in studio with her story. sarah. >> within the first hour of reverend cecil williams, passing people filed in the glide memorial church in san francisco to honor him. remember him? many of them telling me they feel privileged to have even known him at all and grateful for the work he did to serve those in need influencing people across the world. >> this man of peace, this man of justice passed away hear but i really can't believe it's record. williams was the co-founder of glide. he was also a civil rights and lgbtq activist. >> was a larger than life figure. minister marvin white intern for williams when he was 18 years old and has

become his protege. he says he'll never forget with the reverend told him he said. >> i need for you to be you. >> glide put up photos of williams over the years with people of all walks of life from political activists like bobby seale and angela davis to politicians like nelson mandela and celebrities like marvin gaye in sammy davis, junior williams was also close friends with former san francisco mayor willie brown. more than 50 years. yeah. my friendship with cecil williams. >> in valuable him for me. it will never end. >> brown says he worked with williams and doctor martin luther king junior in the 60's during the civil rights movement before williams helped open the church. merry christmas to you. the reverend was known for making everyone feel like family opening the church doors to all making the institution. one of the most liberal churches in america, 2 women to poor folks to workers. >> 2 black folks to brown

folks too early. organizers. >> on and on and many say williams was not the same after the passing of his wife in glide co-founder, janice america, tony in 2021. there. >> many times that he would. audibly and sonically just whale just thinking about not being with her i think also he showed. that he have to keep going. >> in december, glad mark 60 years and williams passed the torch to a new ceo doctor gina, from are mister white says glide will continue to keep the legacy of reverend williams alive for decades to come. we can grieve. >> and mourn, but we can't lose sight of liberation. it's even more visible now because of this passing. >> clyde will have the sanctuary open this week for people to visit and honor the late reverend williams. more

to come on the service. i'm sara stinson reporting back to you. >> sarah, thank you. mayor london breed did release a statement about williams as well, saying in part, quote, reverend cecil williams was the conscience of our san francisco community. she goes on to say he led with compassion and wisdom always putting the people first and never relenting in his pursuit of justice and equality. his kindness brought people together and his vision changed our city and the world. governor newsom also released a statement tonight saying reverend williams and his congregation offered refuge and support to all who enter their doors. their tireless work to empower marginalized members of the community. put them at the forefront of key social justice and human rights issues driving positive change. all of us can take inspiration from his legacy. new at 11, the group leading the effort to recall alameda county district attorney pamela price is calling on the county supervisors again to set a date for the recall election organizers with safe sent a letter to the board

saying according to the state's election law, the board must set an election date during its meeting on april 30th. if the board is not safe, says that responsibility will be handed off to the county election official safe has also scheduled a news conference at a protest tomorrow morning at 10, 30 at the alameda county administration building the county registrar of voters did announce last week they received enough signatures for a recall election of da price. threats made over the phone for us to palo alto high school to go into lockdown. today. police said gunn high school received 2 separate phone calls. one was about a person walking around with a rifle. the other was a bomb threat. both calls were placed at the same time just before 2 o'clock this afternoon. the lockdown lasted about 2 hours as officers investigated. police say there was no evidence of any actual threat to the school. the calls origins are now being investigated. tonight, we're learning the body recovered from a reservoir is that of a san francisco man? 24 year-old

oscar rafael ca flores was swimming at the woodward reservoir in stanislaw county on saturday. officials say he appeared to guard tired and struggled to keep above the water surface and drowned. first responders found him about 45 feet from the mountain view point shoreline. authorities are reminding everyone to be prepared for emergencies. and if you plan to be outside in the water, you should be wearing a life vest. a man is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car in san jose. according to police, that man was walking in the area of south first street and hollywood avenue earlier today when he was hit. no word on the driver at this time. another big story we've been following. crews will be working all week now to fix the sausalito pier in hopes of getting the ferry service. >> back up and running again. the ferry route between san francisco and sausalito has been out of service since friday evening. a routine

inspection found damage to one of the piers for terry spokesperson says while work to repair that pile began over the weekend, they can only work during low tide. so those repairs may take some time. the suspension and service is affecting about 500 people daily. >> it was kind of surprised because i thought it's easy to fix, but they could kind of looks like it's not easy to fix. so putin. it's not going to last. >> until the repairs are made, golden gate transit is providing bus service to and from the city. the pier was built back in the 70's. officials say there is a plan to replace all together, but construction on that has not yet begun. let's get you a check of your forecast. taking a live look at the golden gate bridge tonight where? a little chilly. we have some fog and clouds rolling in that. we have a couple more days of

sunshine in. the florence will sneak a little sunshine in the afternoon hours in parts of the bay area. but other parts, yeah, you're going to feel that fog. in fact. >> felt some of the effects today as the temperatures begin to cool down just a bit. some patchy fog moving in across san francisco, the bay now we'll see more of that by tomorrow morning. some of the numbers falling as much as 5. >> even 9 degrees in some of the north bay valleys. but tomorrow, much, much cooler, maybe 10, maybe 15 degrees cooler around the bay area all because that sea breezes kick bringing that nice cool air off the ocean waters. so highs today still warm in many spots away from the coastline. 80's in the san jose lemore in concord. so comfortable. 78 warm in santa rosa cooler, though, a much cooler to san francisco. only 62 degrees and 69 in oakland got the cloud cover that is work its way all along the from the south that suddenly search of fog is kicked in couple pop-up thunderstorms over the sierra nevada, but a mostly quiet day weather-wise around california that will likely continue to be the case. high pressure is going to kind of scoot eastward as it does. we're going to see more in the way of clouds and that means some

cooler temperatures on the way. we'll talk more about that. plus, the prospects for some rain later in the week. 2 coming up in a few minutes. thanks, lawrence. >> san jose apartments that are meant to help bring people out of homelessness are now facing a slew of complaints. there have been reports of break-ins and drug use and tenants a little to nothing is being done to try to fix those issues. kron four's jeff moment reports. >> its been held since i've been there. >> genome monarch has been at the renaissance apartments for 4 years. she talks to us with 3 other tenants. all of these safe living. there is feel r- tremendous amount >> and a lot i have been broken into my apartment exactly 10 times due to says when she reports these issues to property management. >> they're either met with silence or retaliation. i have many people that has just wanted to packet grab a kid least in there because got

making it their better and that claim to gina and others hits close to home. >> the apartments are run by charities, housing and are meant to be the first housing for people who haven't had a place to call home. they stay here for 2 years and then go on to a more permanent apartment. many of the people who stay here are recovering from years of living on the street. levi send witness. >> someone hitting at a woman. lisa mooney says her first year at these apartments she would still sleep outside. >> claiming it wasn't a stressful opposed to living inside. it's kind of discouraging 2 years ago, san jose spotlight published report of similar concerns and even reported apartment employees filming attorneys who are investigating the property apartment management denied the allegations reported by spotlight. everything got better. know theresa tovar. a tenant of 2 years says she also sleep outside her apartment most nights. she shows us the complaints filed against the apartment at letters her family wrote to those in charge. she says, though she

is not hopeful anything will be fixed. it just makes no sense to me that things that they do. there's just it right like i as to karl, my kid. now we brought all of these concerns from the multiple tenants that reached out to us to the owners of apartment complex. >> we did not hear back yet any side. jose jacmel but kron 4 news. >> today at the bay area was honoring earth day in the south bay volunteers from the san jose earthquakes and coca-cola planet. some new trees. on saturday. the group planted 30 new trees throughout japan town in san jose. they teamed up with non-profit our city forest for the 3rd annual tree planting event. volunteers have planted more than 40 trees across the bay area over the last 2 years. happening tomorrow outside lands lineup is set to be released. this marks the 16th year of the music festival in golden gate park. the three-day festival starts on august nights. you've got a

are now under review in alameda county due to the possibility of misconduct by prosecutors. >> alameda county da pam la price says her office has uncovered what may be a pattern of misconduct dating back almost 30 years. prosecutors may have purposely excluded blacks and jewish people from juries. >> evidence that we have uncovered suggest plainly that many people did not receive a fair trial in alameda county. and as a result, we have to review all of the files. >> to determine. what happened. we recognize how terrible this and it is something that we have to make

right. >> price says the review of the cases is now underway and families of those harmed those on death row are now being informed of what's going on. she says the alleged misconduct is not limited to just one or 2 prosecutors. and there are several cases that suggest misconduct. it is officially passover. tonight, the jewish holiday taking place all around the world here in the bay area. people are worried about synagogue security following the israel-hamas war. the ongoing war has sparked a cease-fire. protests here in the bay area and all across the country. it's led to both the rise in islamophobia and anti-semitism often seen oz, graffiti or hate crimes. just 2 weeks ago, a local synagogue was awarded a security grant from the state paying for extra guards during passover. >> very sad situation that we have to rely and security were thankful to the state of california for giving this

security grant. but it's really a shame that we have to do this. >> a local rabbi says these guards will help the congregation celebrate without worry of being attacked. the remains of a gray whale found offshore in alameda over the weekend is now at angel island after being towed across the bay today, the 40 foot long carcass was first spotted on saturday evening. experts determined it was an adult female gray whale biologist from the marine mammal center and the california academy of sciences are now going to be performing a necropsy on the whale trying to figure out what happened. >> we will open the whale up. we will look inside. it will look for signs of cause of death. and it's very sad, though. i want to know what happened. i'd like to know what happened to whale. >> it's not clear when that necropsy will be performed or how long it will take. officials with the marine mammal center tell us this is not the same whale that we reported on. that was entangled 2 weeks ago. this is however, the first reported dead whale in the san francisco bay this year.

california has a new state park. the newly restored dos rios ranch preserve is located in stanislaw county restoration of that park included the planting of 280,000 trees across 2100 acres. the official opening date is set for june. 12th. it will be the california state park systems. 280st park. take a look at this. cars had to drive carefully today on highway 24 3 cowboys. we're trying to wrangle some cows ended somehow got on the highway. this is right before saint stephen's drive and hidden valley road exit. you see those cows moving across all lanes. looks like 3 or 4 a horse trailer tried to help the cows kept escaping. as you can see here, it took quite a while. they did not want to move. >> off the highway doesn't look like, but i assume they eventually.

>> script and taking a live look at san mateo bridge tonight, not too many cars out there. >> lawrence is here to tell us about what's changing. yeah, we've got that cool ocean air beginning to kick up into gear and bring with it. some low clouds. >> and some fog. so, boy, we've had some nice days lately, but they should be cooling down a little bit as we head in toward the next couple days as chance we might see this brener deep enough overnight tonight that we could actually be talking about some drizzle out there as well. so that's something we're watching out trying to get prepared for us. we've got big changes on the way. so in the meantime, though, yeah, we are going to see those changes work their way into the bay. area's the clouds going to begin to move in. and as they roll on in. well, that means we're going to see what looks like. pretty interesting stuff out there as we're going to notice a the rolling in overnight into early tomorrow morning and then eventually going to start to break away a bit. so looks like as the clouds break up, though, we're going to see some sunshine as we head toward the middle of

day in the afternoon. also, summer pattern kind of settling in here. then the week ahead. yeah, that cooling trend. the slight chance of some showers as we get into late thursday and on friday, temperatures out the door right now. you're generally in the 50's outside, although holding on to 60 degrees right now in brentwood. 55 in cooler temperatures go. the breeze been kicking up quite a bit. and 53 degrees nap. in fact, we have some winds this afternoon. 39 almost 40 miles per hour in the san francisco that sea breeze continuing outside. the fog has been moving up the coastline more than on the way overnight and tomorrow to the marine. they're going deep in and roll on shore as it does. that means we're going to see chance of drizzle and cooler temperatures mid week and then late in the week we've got an actual cold front dropping in does not much energy to it, but there's a chance it could bring some showers. the bay area, not tomorrow. maybe a little drizzle. coast side temperatures much cooler 50's and 60's in san francisco about 58 degrees in pacifica. 58 in half moon bay inside the bay. the temperatures running in the 60's, the warming up down the peninsula. mid 60's places like redwood city, the south bay 60's and low 70's by tomorrow afternoon. so, yeah, these numbers that were in the
